- When we came to travel in Indonesia, we knew we really wanted to do an orangutan spotting jungle trek in Sumatra!!! Orangutans are so amazing!! Not only are they extremely smart, they're also the largest animal to live in trees! Orangutans are also critically endangered. They only live on the islands of Sumatra and Borneo.
Bukit Lawang Indonesia is one of the most popular places to do these orangutan jungle treks. There are different trek options such as a 5 day trek or a day trek. We choose the 2 day trek as it was still budget friendly, yet we really wanted to sleep overnight in the Sumatran jungle (so we avoided the day trek). This experience was AMAZING!!! Although it was also so much harder than we expected!!! Not only were we SOOOO sweaty, we got peed on by monkeys, Carles got leeches, and we had to shower in a river. We still can't believe we got to experience all this in Gunung Leuser National Park (an UNESCO World Heritage Site)! We really recommend doing a jungle trek, especially with the same company we used (Sumatra Eco Travel) as the guides were amazing and so knowledgeable!! We weren't aware how dangerous orangutans can be - they're 7 times stronger than humans and extremely smart which can lead to dangerous situations in the jungle. We had multiple guides with us the whole time pointing out animals and keeping us safe. This is not a promo video (we paid for everything) however we really recommend the company we used as they went above and beyond!

She has actually bit multiple tourists 😬 however we felt very safe with our guides as they have so much experience they can read Mina's mood by looking at her and then keep as far away as necessary.

The dry season is the right time to visit Bukit Lawang, because the path is easier not slippery like the rainy season and we can see more animals.

Orang Utan in Sumatra is different from the one in Kalimantan. In Sumatra, they use their hands to swing from branches to branches, while the ones in Kalimantan walk with feet like human, with the size of 1.5x of human size.

They both do spend most of their time up in the trees although it's true that Borneo orangutan are more likely to venture down on the land just cause there isn't any predator like the tiger in Sumatra
I am a North Sumatran and I live in the city of Medan. In North Sumatra there are many recreational objects, but the most popular are Bukit Lawang and Lake Toba. Lake Toba is the largest lake in Southeast Asia and a lake that was created from an ancient volcanic explosion on this planet.

This jungle track if for profesional lol. Look so hard for average people. But it's great you choose different type of travel in Indonesia not just Bali.
Lol we weren’t expecting it to be so hard, but we were really glad it was! It was such a cool experience we never did before! (They also have day treks which I’m sure would be easier…or 5 day treks which would be super hard 😱)
And yes DEFINITELY! This was my first time in Indonesia so the LAST thing I’d want to do is just sit in Bali the whole time!!! Indonesia is huge - we had to fit as much into our 2 months as possible!!! 😍 and there’s still so much we want to see!

Wow, finally both of you reached the jungle and met up the endangered animals Orang Utan there. Hopefully Orang Utan will be preserves and protect by all the people there and specially by the Local Government there and protect by The NGO for Animals Habitat such like Greenpeace 😊
We also hope orangutans will be protected! It was such an amazing experience to see them in the wild! 😍
The must put in your List : Borobudur temple in Central Java, Mt. Bromo volcano's, Tumpak Sewu water fall in East Java, Labuhan Bajo, Komodo Island to see the Komodo dragon, Giant Manta ray, giant Bat, pink beach etc. The best and wise way travelling in Java are take the executive class train, you will be paid with astonishing scenery along the way.
Just crossed Borobudur off your list if I can suggest.
Too pricey and it's not worth it .. anymore.
With restriction and stuff.
Until they fix the system, I don't suggest anyone especially foreigner to visit the place.
Just go to natural wonders instead.

Never stop checking what video you will publish next after you visit Medan city. Just knowing from your video that the temperature of the climbing in the forest was very hot. But your video about this trip to the forest and then its river was really cool. Exciting to learn about many animals, treck, hills there.
