Just got the LE. Here’s some practical things that I was wondering before I bought it. - It’s about as loud as an air-compression nail gun. Meaning, if you have nosy neighbors, or don’t have a lot of backyard space, you’ll probably get their attention when you practice, unless there’s usually a lot of construction going on. fire up the leaf blower if you’re nervous about it. - It’s very light, slightly more than an airsoft pistol. - when you practice, use a brand new CO2 cartridge. The first round Fired pierces the top of the CO2. use the whole co2 cartridge when you practice, then replace with a brand new co2 before storing. If you leave a priced co2 a slow leak over the weeks in storage means you won’t have volocity if you need it. - don’t worry about people saying it won’t stop a person (ignore the videos of people being shot with it and barely flinching, if you’re your using a pre-leaked CO2 cartridge, velocity can be as low as you want to look tough on UA-cam). I put .5” deep gouges in an oak tree. -I expected no kick, but there is a slight kick each shot. Nothing that would give anyone of any size trouble.
Not necessarily talking about Byrna, but I think these manufacturers have overlooked a very important demographic---Women! A lot of the launchers with all companies are too big and bulky for either concealed carry or for women's much smaller hands. I ordered the T4E Walther for my wife and it was absolutely too big for her hands, she couldn't even reach the trigger. I wound up giving her my HDR 50 as it was easier for her to hold. In short I think whoever could bring these to market the quickest would do quite well
They actually make quite compact launchers, with less shots though. Dont forget these projecitles ate much larger than bullet and the CO2 cartridge has to be somewhere.
Please test the byrna, pepperballs on soft surfaces like jerseys or jackets to see if they pop, and release pepper, because all the tests is done on people with t shirts, or hard surfaces, what's the use u buy one and it don't pop

The Byrna is like a Refined Tipx pistol great for chemical rounds but the real test is kinetic rounds I would say anything less then 30 joules might not be enough. And then there's the weight of the rounds. If it can push at least 5grms at 30J that would be a serious consideration.

Question, can i load this - so, its ready to go when i need it? because, i heard the co2 cartridge will leak or not work well. Can you explain that to me before i buy it?
From my understanding you can load it with the c02 cartridge but it doesn’t puncture until the first shot. You don’t want to leave it in the pistol once it’s punctured.
While a Byrna may be better than nothing, it may not be much better than nothing against an attacker with pumped-up adrenaline who is intent on killing you. I'll choose lethal.
Very cool. Are you able to remove the boost front portion from the LE model to reduce the overall frame size and simply use the 8 gram Co2 cartridges? If you remove it does it have any performance impact other than reduced number of shots from the 8 gram cartridge vs the 12 gram? Thanks
Its not true at all in fact 340 fps on a 3g projektile (and that is what i guess they messure their speed with) is around 16joule .. a fsc or tcp pistol can shoot 340 fps on a 8g projektile what is 42joules.. beside u have many more possibilitys to swap barrels out and use differnt projektile to get even higher fps 🤫
