  • Welcome to Part 7 of my Goodbye Camper, Hello Caravan series. In this video, I'll be installing the solar panels on the roof of the caravan, to complete the off-grid electrical system.
Thanks to my twin brother Rusty from Rusty's Metal Cut Signs & Designs for the use of his plasma cutting table to make the solar panel mounting hole template. Check out his channel here: / @rustysmetalcutsignsde...

Great work did you need to change your gas struts to accommodate the new panels

Hi Armon, yes, the gas struts were buggered, so in replacing them, I went for the next stronger rated size, and they work a treat.
I've not got my Starlink dish on a bracket attached to the cross arms, so I'm grateful for the stronger gas struts.

Will your solar cable interfere with the annexe

Hi Joe, you raise an interesting question. I don't have an annexe attached to the caravan, as I carry a 3m x 3m gazebo, so I don't have any issues with the cable. If I did add an annexe, I'd have to route the cables differently....either into the van on the other side, or space the annexe off the pop top roof, to clear the cables on that side of the van.
