  • Come with me and my prospecting buddy, Rhys, as we head to the goldfields of Western Australia, around Paynes Find, Agnew and Leonora as we chase the elusive 'yellow rocks'.
    Along the way I'll show you around the heritage trail outside Sandstone and discuss the reasons for forward planning as we detour to buy fuel, believing there was no fuel available at Sandstone...according to the details on my HEMA Explorer ap on my ipad.
    The Navara has a 145L long range fuel tank and on the trip I averaged 14L/100kms, giving me a range of just over 1000kms. Even so, I had room in the camper trailer for 2 jerry cans of diesel, which I'll pack next time.
    Being late in the year, the daytime temperatures were in the mid to high 30s, which caused me to struggle in the heat, even with the precautions I was taking...wide brimmed hat, long sleeve shirt, drinking plenty of water and trying to stay in the shade where possible.
    Heat stress is no fun and can be very dangerous, hence the decision to pack up and head home earlier than planned.

      I know it's not 'outback camping' related but you might be interested in my new channel, dedicated to my CNC plasma cutting business. The channel is called Rusty's Metal Cut Signs & Designs.

    Great video Rusty, you find the same shit as me,,, I only have a Gm1000 detector though. Thinking about hiring a sdc 2300... Maybe you could meet that guy Nigel from the desert collectors on TV lol and sell some of that stuff you got lol...
    I hope to be heading out about March little bit cooler, would be awesome to catch up, I. Usally go by my self with my doggy mate...
    I drive a grey and blue delica 4wd van with a orange x lighting trailer.
    Last time I went, I met up with a face book group called Perth amateur prospectors, that was fun, out Coolgardie way. :) one of the guys walked 30 feet from his car and hit a 800 dollar nuget.. :) on the first night!!!

      Hi Christie, yeah, I find a lot of junk and not a lot of gold, unfortunately. It's way too hot at present so I'm also waiting for the cooler weather. The first time I ever went prospecting, I found a nice size nugget in an area that had been heavily worked....so there's nuggets still out there!!

    there is a bowser at Sandstone. I was there 2 weeks ago and 4weeks before that.

      According to my HEMA Explorer mapping software, there wasn't any fuel available in Sandstone. It wasn't until we got there, that we found the unmanned bowser, opposite the pub!

    Odd that there wasn't any fuel at Sandstone. Was it just a pump problem or empty storage? I thought there was 24 hours fuel there...

    • @RustysOutbackAdventures
      @RustysOutbackAdventures  2 роки тому +1

      There is fuel at Sandstone, via an unmanned 24 hour fuel depot, BUT, I'm using HEMA Explorer on my ipad and it was telling me that there wasn't any fuel at Sandstone....something that I need to address with HEMA.

    I tuned in to watch you get gold not junk lol not enough gold getting on your channel. You should have detecting in the damn area for gold that got washed downstream when there was water 💧 lol

      I suppose that's why it's called 'detecting' and not 'finding' gold. I'd definitely like to be finding more gold, and did so on my latest trip. Check out that video to see me finding gold!!
