Was the V10 F1 era the greatest sounding era of any sport?
Yes
Yes
Yes, but Top Fuel Dragsters a close second.
Honestly an amazing sound. I think the 2.65L turbo charged cart cars from mid to late 90's was just as awesome! Love them both for sure. Watching the 2024 Bahrain F1 race and want to puke!!! The young fan has no clue what they missed!
Yes
V10 engine that can revs until 19.050 rpm. What a beautiful sound!
That 50 is what makes all the difference
@@jishan6992what? Modern F1 uses a V6. V10 was last in 2006 when Torro Rosso ran a cosworth v10. They have been gone almost 20 years from F1
@@SirRobbins ain't no way, i was told they use a V10 tho! They should bring it back would make the races a bit more exciting to the ears and shake up the grid
@@jishan6992nope. Only one team used them in 2006, the rest stopped in 2005. They went to V8s and then to V6 starting in 2014...
Sounds like 190.000 RPM 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
I Listen to This for hours, easily 🌟🫅🌟
In those days, you could FEEL it, in the air, in the ground, in your chest, in your dreams at night for the rest of your life....
Yeah, that's what F1 at the track was all about... That brutal sound and vibrations and feelings of these high end machines all over your body. You could feel the pure power.
It always felt as if the world was going under when these cars screamed by a few meters away from you...
And that satisfying feeling when you were almost deaf after a 3 hour qualifying Friday or a 2 hour race... ❤
Never gonna come back unfortunately.
Exactly. It was pure adrenaline
It was amazing, you could also close your eyes and know exactly what car was coming by the engine note.
@@TheUsmc0802yes, I remember that as kid, in late 90s Peugeot and Mugen Honda has most authentic sound. Pure enjoy, can't explain that to friends who start going on truck last couple years.
You only get that from top fuel now
I think we can all agree that these cars were waaay too loud, small, manoeuvrable, racy, exciting, and they needed way too much driver skill to get the best out of. I’m sure we are all glad we now have quiet, SUV-sized grip monsters that overtake via a button on the steering wheel and always finish in pace order. That’s what people love most about motorsport.
The passive aggressive sarcasm is insane
If i wanted the pole winner to not win i wouldn’t watch the race.
Honestly I want chaos like motogp. Sometimes in a new circuit, 7 bikes just lose grip simultaneously in a corner.
They were more exiting machines for sure but the racing itself wasn’t any better than it is today
😂😂😂😂
The last Williams that was in a title fight :(
Yup. Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher.
Is it just me, or do the v10 cars sound better going around a circuit rather than doing burnouts?
100% no load on a burn out
I hate it when they do that. Show me the speed, acceleration, braking and cornering ability. And the sound speaks for itself than. That's what I would call a demo
@@rofufoja I agree however someone owns all these cars and many are priceless
@@sparkyplug28 should probably keep them away from Pizzonia then 😄
its the camera microphone which breaks under the noise.
it cant show us what the people really heard^^ its cutting out
Those donuts into a rolling burnout was absolutley incredible!
These engines and funny cars dragsters are the most insane piston engines..
This is how a Formula One Car should sound...2014 was the year the music died....
whatever
clearly you are not experienced....clearly@@lordzuzu6437
@@johnshears1091 2006. V8 started in the 2006 season x)
Millennial !
Those V10 from the 2000s is just amazing! Crazy sound!

Back then life was not perfect. Looking back now, it was...
back before woke idiots were around
For real.
This man deserves the applause cause he gave an amazing show!
I agree.
Those V10 is the closest you can get from 'mechanical furia'. It's almost a scream.
❤
3.5 V10 and 3.0 V10 were so cool 🥺
And not so efficient, powerful or light
@@balintgalambos691The current cars might be more efficient, but they are only slightly more powerful 950hp and a lot heavier 800kg the cars at the end of the v10 era made around 900bhp and weighed around 600kg
@@balintgalambos691 WIth modern tech they could make a 3L NA V10 that makes 1000 hp easily. Probably close to 1200hp as well.
@@balintgalambos691 In what world is 900hp from an NA 3.0L not so efficient or powerful?
@@CliffNark In a world where you can get 300hp from a 1.6L road-going turbo I3. The second-fastest racing series behind F1, however (especially with the slow tubs in WEC at the moment) actually uses I4 engines, and I believe with total freedom to develop racing engines, it would go that way in F1 as well.
This was more exciting then watching a modern F1 race to be honest
By a significant margin.
❤😊
cause your buddy lewis isnt winning race after race anymore?
@@ltg8382My driver Max wins nearly every race and the V-10 is still better.
@@ltg8382 Or maybe cause F1 sucks nowadays
I was lucky enough to be at Indy in 2004. My first F1 race. It was incredible to see Michael and Rubens taking 1st and 2nd in front of Me. The F2004 was awesome!
Ha My first F1 race was in 2004 as well at the Australian GP in Melbourne. The sound of the V10s astonishing seeing the great Michael Schumacher on his way to another F1 crown. I will never forget it. I saw the V10s once in 2004 then saw the V8s once in Malaysia. The modern cars would not be as much of a spectical I think. Maybe I'll see them one day
@@paulholmes8398 2004 was an awesome time for F1!!! Love that sound.
@@J1Z06 absolutely, i was at monza that year... The Honda was sooo loud 😅

You damn well know the owners were pissin their pants as they watched him almost crash the car several times.
Well there weren’t any “owners”, it was the official BMW Williams car and Pizzonia was one of the F1 drivers.
Pizzonia is a professional racing driver and actually raced this car back in the day. He didn't almost crash it several times, he showed amazing control several times.
He almost lost it.
He really did.
At least on 2 occasions.
@@RafitoOoOsure, that’s how you enter a corner with „amazing control“ at 1:09 …
@@tangofoxtrott7971 He is playing to the crowd, its a PR day for the team in front of a car loving crowd at a hill climb. That's just what they do. The fact that he was behind the wheel of an F1 car means he was one of the worlds best drivers at the time. Why does a youtube keyboard warrior think he knows better
WOW, what a machine!❤ These need to come back!🎶🎵
Headphones on, cranked to 100. Musical Therapy 😌
Colleagues look at me different if I listen to V12 and V10 F1 engines... I love it, it really is music :D
I feel sorry for your ears hahaha
I’m all for awesome sounds like this, but hearing loss just isn’t worth it
hahahaha i got my speakers full vol with my window open
That thing is so mental! Love it and miss it!
Massive respect for the driver showcasing the F1 car's drift control and spinning donuts for the cameras.
I played this car on a video game- Hot Wheels Williams F1 Team Driver in 2004.
当時鈴鹿でこのサウンドを初めて聴いた時は鳥肌が止まらなかった😊 ストレート、コーナー、ピットイン、アウトどこで聴いても大迫力のサウンド。
He nearly lost it😅
He certainly did😅
There where beast of f1 engine if you didn’t Respect them they would bite you Alonso Räikkönen all found out
It's Pizzonia, look up him crashing a Jaguar road car at Barcelona
Nearly is the difference to 😏
Part of the thrill :)
Even Goodwood agrees the V10's were the GOAT
Im glad this was the era of my youth. Even had the pleasure of hearing one in person. Never heard anything like it. The sound will stay with me forever 🥲
I used to live in a village called Kemble back then. They would regularly test F1 cars on the local airfield. It was bliss
The word that best describes this era of F1 cars for me is…….violent. The sound, the gear shifts, the handling & braking. Everything was just so raw and violent. You never forget hearing the V8, V10 or V12 n/a cars in person. Watching on TV we only have sight and sound. So sad we lost what was a huge part of the experience of those cars. It’s definitely not the same watching a race now.
Now we have efficiency, power and lightness
@@balintgalambos691 lightness?? You must be joking. The cars are 30% heavier and bigger than these. 595 kg vs 795 kg.
@@seashackf1 but the engine is lighter.
Lightness lol actual cars look like turtles when they exit chicanes and slow corners compared to F1 of V10 era@@balintgalambos691
@@balintgalambos691 The current minimum engine weight is 150kg the old V10s weighed about 95kg in 2005
The Toyotas were considerably louder than the others. They had an extra raspiness and aggressiveness. Amazing machines.
The Jordan 2005 had a distinctive misfire and some hard clacking. the toyos were ripping the ear drums but i cant remember if they were more than a tad louder, but it hurted much more in the ears
Not better or worse but the Honda engine for a few years sounded quite distinct. Not sure why.
You forgot Honda from 2004 & Banging Gear Shift Sounds. Thats the loudes one. Also BAR Hondas were the loudest in 2001 old Hockenheim Forests. Fact. ;) Why? Because im the original F1 V10 man John Cash ;)
Toyota was crap and the Honda engines were the most unreliable, during 1 season Honda had 19 engine failures.
That driver made the run very fun for the people, great!
Nothing sounds bettet than this!
Getting goosebumps by just listetning on my phone! I can only imagine hearing this real-life on a track, amazing feeling!
Only to get replaced by a flacid V6s.
That tank slapper at 1:10 was a huge butt pucker moment lol
I love this car can’t believe Williams didn’t win the championship with this,I am so lucky I have a part of the sidepod at home.
Ferrari was on its game back then
Pizzonia was insane, he rolled an s-type jaguar on track braking at the same brake point as an f1 car, gotta love the guy
true! I remember that story from F1 Racing, this was Barcelona turn 1
what a sound
I can't get enough of this sound this my 4th time listening.
1:08
"MANY POOS SHOT OUT OF MY ANI"
Perfectly manageable slide, you seen it all the time years ago
Now that's an F1 car
Can we get a few of these to perform at this year's FOS... pretty please
For a second when Pizzonia slowed down I thought the engine blew and I was like “yep, that’s the Williams BMW I remember”
Beautiful car, fantastic sound 🔥😍🤩
I didn't know it was going to happen, two big tears welled up suddenly. I _really_ miss that noise 🥺
I was at Indy for the Classic Race Weekend deal back around 2012 or so. I had never heard an F1 car in person. After watching all the various Tran-Am cars and others lap the roadcourse, the driver of one of the actual 2007-ish F1 cars lapped while other racecars were out there. It blew my mind at the sound and fury and outrageous speed. Nothing sounded like that car.

1:08 lucky lucky boy.
glad i witnessed that time and even before, until 2014 f1 died. i also miss that williams with ralf vs michael in the ferrari and alonso in the renault. THAT was F1, not those ridiculous huge trains we have now.
1:08 that was a close call...
yeah. almost binned it.
"A Lot of poo shot out there!"
The perfect sound.
as of today, NASCAR has the only engines that make the ground shake and your blood boil while passing at you at 150+ mph. F1 USED to have that. Indycar kinda does on the ovals too, not so much on the road courses. WEC and IMSA has its moments, and Dirt Rally and Motorcross have a different feel that isn’t blood boiling and spine tingling.
went to a race the first time they hosted COTA, the 2nd loudest race i’ve been to in America. the start off the line was extraordinary and you felt the growl in the engines compared to now.
I remember Marshalling races during this era, trust me I could hear these cars for a week ringing in my ears.
What an absolute mad drive up the hill. Stunning. What a final hurrah.
This is F1!
even goodwood road and racing knows what is the perfect f1 soundtrack
Great show! I appreciate the risks taken here. Also, what a beautiful monster.
Short wheelbase, narrow track, screaming engines, and twitchy cars requiring dedication. Miss this F1, current Woke 1 is garbage.
@@TheUsmc0802 huh??? Stop yapping, grandpa.

This was incredible, that is how one should be driven and thats how a real race car should sound and perform, thats absolutely insane, goosebumps. You tell me you youd rather be watchin and listenin to an EV around a track than this masterpiece? Anyone would be lyin if they said that. Period.
Now compare this to what we have today... Ugh. I know, times change, the future is now, blah blah.
You mean faster.?
Today's engines are a lot faster
@@aswadsaswad1759 No one cares if it's faster when it sounds like a fly trapped in a jar.
@@coldvoid other way around.
Who cares about sound when they're 2 second a lap slower!?
They're not much faster if you actually look at the lap records. Give a 2005 car DRS and slick tyres and those two elements alone will not only close the gap but maybe be faster. Who cares though. The lighter, smaller, more nimble chassis + the incredibly aggressive sound, they look and sound so much faster on the track. Far more entertaining to watch. Also, the older cars demanded more from the driver. Much of that has been replaced with computer tech and sophisticate aero.@@aswadsaswad1759

I'm so happy i've seen them in real life in this era on multiple race weekends, you could really feel them in your entire body when they came screeming by.
this engine touches all kinds of emotions ...
Didn't know f1 cars could reverse
???
Of course they do? If they spin off or lock up into a narrow escape road, quite often they'll need to reverse. Most will try doing a donut if they have the room though because it's quicker.
There's a several step process to getting into reverse, so they avoid it
@@nbain66 and to minimize weight, I would assume they just leave out the reverse gear as it's not as often that they need to reverse
@@subilasikwese5459 it's there, it's just very small and fragile hence the long process
so glad i lived through it. always was and will be my Favorite era for F1. also let it be said that his skills thankfully kicked in. that was a terrifying tank slapper. 😂❤
Wow, Mr. Pizza had some close calls in that run lol
Missing the high-rev gear changes at the track. They were glorious
After witnessing 5 french GP from 2002 and 2006, feeling each of these beauties going round every corners of Magny-Cours, having goosebumps and trembling eardrums, i got to witness the belgian GP in 2014. Oh, Spa, what a marvellous track...but...a terrible thing had happen to the cars...the wonderful melody was gone...and part of the emotions with it...
These early 2000's Williams machines were genuinely astonishing, just looking at the history of Williams and the fact they were collaborating with various 3rd parties to make these early 2000's cars and yet were able to compete against Ferrari and McLaren with larger budgets is just ❤ admirable.
The SOUND is part of the racing experience no matter what discipline
And he drives it like he stole it, what an absolute chad of a driver too!
It’s not just the sound, look how violent that thing looks.
0:03 that little head nod that says this is only the start

The guy is a legend. Superb driver
I loved this car..when they won their second consecutive 1-2 in Montreal with Montoya leading the charge, I was in a state of bliss

What a sound. I heard tese at Indy in 2001/2001 and they sounded even more amazing in person. I guess I didn't realize they had reverse gears back then.
I actually like the V8 Cosworth sound better but this is awesome too! I love a real clutch and shift lever also.
Never was a huge F1 fan...went to the 2004 US GP at Indy. The two things that stuck with me after that race were how fast they could stop and how unbelievably loud they were. The only thing I can think of that is louder is a Top Fuel dragster.
