Thanks for sharing this John! This thing looks awesome! Especially for the price. I don’t need another audio interface right now, but I still want it. LOL. That smart gain is intriguing and I really like the small size and the aesthetic. If it had the ability to run off internal batteries, like my Zoom U-44, it would become my iPad/iPhone audio interface right now. As it stands, I probably will still buy one. 🙄

Some months ago I bought Evo8. It's magic. With big knob you can set volume of 2stereo outputs independently. Exactly what I was looking for. You can do it with the software mixer, but playing live a big knob is perfect. I love this little device

Excellent overview. After careful viewing, you can actually get started with the Evo 4. However, I have a question; how will the Evo 4 (or Evo 2) behave as a DAC when combined with an iPad as a sound module. I currently own an iD4 (MK1) and have no complaints about it except for the large size (it's on top of a StudioLogic SL73). I really like the ergonomics of the Evo - just not sure if the interface swap is really necessary for me. BTW, I had the most ergonomic interface (real DAC) - M-Audio AIR|Hub, but unfortunately its output signal is not strong.
    Greetings.

Unit sounds cool in features but the software package is a bit rare to most producers .What do you guys think? No shade just being curious about it.

Well… it’s okay. And the automatic gain setting is a nice little feature. But to me, that’s nothing game changing. I want to make one thing clear: I am not about bashing on this interface. After all, the inputs are ridiculously high dynamic range, a very low Equivalent Input Noise (EIN). The gain is quite low. 41dBFS isn’t exactly much, tho truth be told, it’s only an issue on a small subset of microphones. So the inputs are actual quite decent for most uses.
But there are a few weaknesses here, that need to be pointed out: The headphone output can cause issues with low impedance headphones, because the impedance is rather high. And multi purpose buttons or knobs are always to be taken with a grain of salt. Tho they can be comfortable, you make more use of certain buttons or knobs that way, which inevitably will make them fail earlier, than If you had separate buttons and knobs. And even worse: to do this you need more software inside the device and in advance more controllers and computer chips, which can fail. Because of that, I prefer classical audio interfaces. Also, the build here - while not horrible - still isn’t as secure if it comes to interference shielding and not as robust.

Your analysis is perfectly sensible and I agree to all you've said. There's nothing pathbreaking or highly advantageous about this interface. Classical types are way better as far as life span of potentiometers is concerned as opposed to multi functional ones, also for headphones output impedance levels.

2:00 but can I have both (speakers and headphones) connected and controll them? or do I have to unplug one all the time?

To add to my first comment I have Rode dynamic mics and I like the crisp sound while we are live for the audience so which of the 2 interface that I mentioned on my last comment I can get more from? Thanks

I would probably go with the IO24 for the onboard EQ and compression
