- I modified and tuned my cheap bmw to 500hp... Was this a Mistake? Well today we will find out. We go over some of the good, the bad, and the very ugly and the pros and cons of owning a car like this. This experiment was about buying a sub $10k sporty car and modding it (still keeping it under $10k) and see how fast, reliable, and fun of a car we can get. Maybe it's time to dump this car and upgrade to an even better supercar killer sedan on a budget.

Watching from Turkey and im suprised that F30 is so cheap there its dream for so many people in my country and it make me smile to see someone modify that correctly unlike my country they only put cheap m3 parts

If you guys know how to weld, I say you guys make a budget top mount turbo kit for this build, then sell it after if you want too. That would be sick! Also if your getting a 550i, don’t do it! They’re huge headaches and the N63’s are trash and will blow. For the n55 it can be very reliable as long all maintenance is good. You could even do the rod bearings, and the N55 will be stupid reliable. It’s not hard to do at all. I did my own on my N55 m235i. My m235i made 700HP on a bottom mount turbo kit with manual trans on a twin disk. It was very reliable. More reliable than it was on stock turbo.
If these donuts can’t even do a ofhg or valve cover gasket on a simple n55 a n63 will blow up in these guys hands 🤦♂️
N63tu is better and so far my 550 has been no headache

I have the same bmw with slightly more mods on e30. Beat a 2016 5.0 on a 40 roll. And mine is the pwg 2012 model. So idk what’s going on with that thing. But it’s rough 😂
seeing as you seem to lean towards complete dumpter fires for cars, you gotta be considering an m6. 550i isnt cool enough for the extra money, an m6 is where its at 👌

@@Mr77Trojan the world record stock turbo n55 makes almost 440. Owned by sunbish, his channel is small but highly informative on the b58 an n55. No n55 is making 500 stock turbo. Not even on ethanol and a custom tune that messes with waste gate duty cycle isnt gonna pass 450hp. I seen one guy go as far as putting a n52 cam in a n55 and he didn’t even make over 470.

your preventative maitnece …. valve cover , oil filter , fuel pump , fuel lines could make ur 0/60 higher times less throttle response n what not especially modding the exhaust right when i put a straight pipe i felt less power when i put everything on i felt my throttle response increased u should put stock exhaust on and see how it feels with down pipe / intercooler / tune

550i/m5 are very fast and very comfortable I’ve had both f30 335i and f10 550i and the f10 is far superior to the f30 imo!

Lmao. Yes, get the n63.. One of the least problematic BMW engines (sarcasm). We have a 550i in the family with a brand new engine, and the last engine spun bearings at 70k. I definitely wouldn't go for a budget car for that purchase. The TT V8 is dope, but it sucks to work on and has way more issues
If you happen to want to buy a 2012 550i with ~15k miles on a new factory engine w/many of the original n63 problems fixed, lmk haha. Bro has been trying to sell it for awhile now, but nobody wants to pay the price the new engine added. In WA though

I think thats a 2013 or 12 335i so probably a PWG N55 not making anything over 380hp without e85 tune to e20-40 and thats about 400-430hp to the wheels I barely make 650hp with an upgraded turbo. But I will say this, upgrade that turbo and NOT buy Pure turbos the pure upgraded turbos have a 50/50 chance of developing shaft play at 6k and sometimes below 2k miles my Stage 2 blew at 4k while only running 20lbs, but any other turbo that isnt an upgraded OEM will be stout so long as you don't moon tune it and daily it at 30psi and also stay on top of general upkeep. I recommend baffling the oil pan and while at it changing the rod bearings to the m2 performance ones just donuts alone can starve the engine and spin a bearing of which has a HIGH chance of cracking the crank. scoring cylinder walls at that point. fueling is obvious stay away from a full e85 tune. run e50 with upgraded fueling then methanol. This also goes to anyone else who is new to N55 reading this, I wish I knew all of this info before I made the numerous stupid mistakes with the car but now it's a machine.
