Easily one of the greatest rock bands EVER!!! Caught Up in You, Somebody Like you, Like no Other Night, Back Where You Belong, If I’d Been the One, Fantasy Girl, and soooo many more!!! AWESOME live!!!!!
I have seen 38 Special in concert close to 40 times since 1982. Stoll awesome band live. Different band members except for lead vocalist and guitarist Don Barnes but still can rock. Met the band several times. Great down to earth guys. They are the best!
One of my all time favorite songs is What if I'd Been the One by .38 Special. I've seen them in concert twice and they're fantastic.
Saw this performed live, it was awesome!
Not very many bands had 2 drummers at the same time and it was Awesome. Other 38 Special songs to check out are "Back where you belong", "Caught up in you", "Like no other night", "If I'd been the one", "Same old feeling", "Teacher, Teacher", "Back to paradise", "Rockin' into the night". Love Don Barnes' voice!!
3 Guitarists as well
" Caught Up In You" is their best song.
My Dad used to jam with these guys back in the day whenever they were in town. This is Donnie Van Zant's band that became a kind of super group of sorts with great musicians in and out over the years. If you like them check out Molly Hatchet, Mott the Hoople, and Bad Company. They all toured around the same time in the same venues and pretty much hung out together on the road. My Dad was a touring guitarist then a venue player, which isn't common now but in the 70s and 80s some venues would hire studio musicians as backups incase a band member was too intoxicated to go out on stage or incase of an accident or something. My Dad did that here mostly in the northeast and my Mom was a venue photographer who would get press passes to take pics for the venue to use for posters and ads and sometimes she got to sing with different bands. She was a singer and this was a way to stay local, get paid, and occasionally sing on stage. In the 70s and 80s security wasn't as tight and the industry was more liberal about that kind of thing. Now you couldn't do that probably.
You are adorable! Love ❤️ 38 Special, my era, good times!
Live, no auto-tune...musicians playing their instruments and singing!
38 Special son grandes, muy grandes. Saludos desde España (Spain).
They were different because they managed to bring Southern Rock into the 80's which others couldn't seem to do. Also, dual drummers.
That's Southern Rock. One of my favorite bands. I grew up listening to this music. There is nothing like this now days.
There is - Blackberry Smoke has been playing since 2000 and are influenced by Skynyrd, The Allmans, Marshall Tucker, and the rest. Their other main influence is The Rolling Stones, country music, and Aerosmith.
D mont has great taste in music 🎵🎶
I just subbed
Greatest Party Band ever Live was better than recorded every time. Would make you bend in places you thought was broke! I'm not lying either.
I saw them in 1982, Huey Lewis and the news opened up
So glad to see young people like yourself enjoying the music from my younger days. I am from Delaware and was so excited when I heard they were coming to our great state fair last summer. The tickets went on sale at noon and by 12:15, I texted my husband to tell him I had gotten them! We went with our two 20 something sons and it was a wonderful night I will always treasure. Keep up the good work and keep enjoying that good old music!
From Texas but retired in Delaware.
Great live band then and still today.
They are so great live! Still rocking.
I like that they had 2 drummers 🥁
Saw them 4 or 5 times in concert.. always a great show!!
Saw them in 1981 right after their album came out. See them four more times. Great memories!
I’ve seen them in concert last summer man them old timers can still put on a kickass show 🤘
Caught up in you and rockin into the night (my fav) are great too
Did you recognize that they had 2 drummers? Their music is great! Please check out What If I'd Been The One! Also check Chain Lightnin'! Many hits from them!
One of the best bands/songs EVER‼👍
Great reaction dude!
Love to see you this reaction. The lyrics are really great, by the way. Sub.
Southern Rock had its own flavor that just is unmistakable!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
One of those you immediately love the first time you hear it
The Van zant brothers Donnie Johnny and Ronnie were members of two different bands Lynyrd Skynyrd and 38 special
LOVED this!!!! Keep em coming brother!
Hold on loosely but don’t let go, if you cling to tightly you’re going to lose control, words to live by!
Dude you rock. Great review.
Southern rock
Chain lightning is a song you would like on the special forces album
About to go see them live today at seaworld. I watched this video as a warm up!
Two drummers
How good were they? just great fun.
Nice reaction video!
Just sub great reaction
D. Mont, did you not notice that there are 2 drummers?.....I thought, you would be the one reactor that would pick up on this, since, you watched a live performance?!?!....getting a little lax, are we?....lol....😉🤭😁
Great reaction! I’m from that era. There was a lot of bands, during that time, that were pigeon-holed as “southern bands”. 38 Special and ZZ Top were examples of bands from the South, but not southern bands. Speaking of ZZ Top, try “I Need You Tonight”. You’ll see why Jimi Hendrix enjoyed his playing.
A lot of people don't notice they're 2 drummers
Ya gotta do some for SRV or Queensryche take hold of the Flame... on the other side... Pentatonix and Home Free!
The elusive quality of this classic rock that keeps people comin' back for more (for me) that modern RHYTHM driven music lacks (rhythm is too easy) ...is the fact that it's MELODY DRIVEN (harder to achieve good hooky melody than base rhythm). That's my excuse for never having outgrown melody driven, harmonic guitar based 20th century rock. If it isn't good 'ol guitar based rock i just don't bother myself.
80's had real musicians and talent,no computer voice bs
Chain lightning 🌩
Great tune.. But... check out "Caught up in You".. and "Secong Chance"//
2 drummers , like Allman's, Skynard ?
You really wonder what the difference between them and other 80 bands you hear of? Short answer, there was just so many. Where do I or we start?
The remnants of Lynyard Skynard, loved these guys. I'm really happy my daughter's boyfriend is really into their music now..he's 19!
Love Live ?
it's the long hair & drugs.
screaming guitar licks. what's not to like?
Caught Up In You is a nothing really good one
