I always aim to look into the meaning of the lyrics in the songs i react to. I think understanding what the song itself is about makes it more impactful.
I see you already go the answer, but yes this song was mostly written by the guitarist Hizaki for there member Yasmine You that what has been announced died by a decease.
However some fans have suggested that it could just as well have been suicide, what ever way he passed it's sad.
And in the earlier renditions of this song live you often saw Hizaki cry at the end part of the song, however I really like the simulated silent minute in this specific live version.
This live performance was very special for Versailles because all of the original band members had set as a goal to eventually play at this prestigious stage in Japan, and this was there first time performing there.
If you want to go for more Versailles, I would probably suggest the song Masquerade.
It seems a common theme for Japanese bands, like X-japan having Hide's guitar onstage regularly after his death too. It's a beautiful sentiment rarely seen in other musical genres.
"In that place in the dream we saw..." This performance is played in 'that place' (the Budokan stadium.) So it makes this performance extra dramatic.
Awesome. Versailles has been one of my favorite bands since they released their first single (The Revenant Choir) back in 2007. Faith & Decision is my favorite song ever. I used to listen to it every day from around 2011-2016, Lol. It's still my ringtone. Haha. Versailles ❤
This is my 2nd fav song from them, 1st being God Palace. I see FaD as their most dramatic song while God Palace as their most Epic song
Too bad you checked this version instead of the Holy Grail live performance, that one is far far superior imo, bass is way more prominent and all the melody sounds way better, since it's also in the original tone, while this one was toned down, never understood why
Because Kamijo can't sing that high anymore.
It's a common thing in bands, tune it half a step down so the singer can keep it right
I liked this version a lot, even with a little mistake at the beginning 01:56, but it could be the signal of Hizaki's guitar, or due to the downtone. I don't really know, I worried a lot about that, but HIzaki did his best at this moment, I feel like the public was frozen as me, but he did a step ahead and the public reacts to this... I almost cry of emotion with his expression like "Everything will be ok, smile and enjoy!". Also, the camera man did a great job, some parts behind Kamijo and Teru were epic, specially at his solo moment. The silence at the last part, and that melodic notes, there's nothing more than sublime.
I missed the way Masashi played the bass on Holy Grail version, when he lifts his bass to his leg, at the moment he is playing a note doing a bending, loved that detail.
The music to me isn't nearly on the same level, plus the song was created on a higher tone, changing it can only harm the melody. It's not the only imperfection, for example even Teru's first solo is less impactful, he cuts a part of his virtuoso play where he lifts his guitar. You might get more emotion out of it, but if the melody isn't on par, all the rest can't save a lesser performance for me. Bass also is way lower than what it was in Holy Grail, you can barely hear him here, while there he was so in your face and i loved it
