The bassist ALE (AH-LAY) Created this bass groove when she was 11yrs old. Shared with the sister and the song was born. It's the Prologue to their concept album Queen of the Murder Scene.. absolutely brilliant concept album.. 🌎✌️
"Dust to Dust" sets the perfect tone for Queen of the Murder Scene, The Warning's second album, which is a concept album released when the band members were just 13 to 18 years old. The song introduces themes of mortality, guilt, and the weight of consequence, serving as a prologue to the dark and emotional story that unfolds. With its haunting atmosphere, it pulls you into the protagonist's psychological descent, laying the groundwork for a gripping journey through obsession and inner turmoil without giving away where the story will go.
Fans are used to Pau singing now . . . Its just what they do . . Yet those new to TW are astounded that she sings . . . Many of us have seen them grow and know they all sing very well . . . Eventually you will realise that the unicorn lead singer is Ale . . As she doesnt . Only when Dany needs to rest her voice . Its a magic moment . . Till next time take care . Bye from New Zealand 👍👋🇳🇿🍻twa
During the breakdown you can hear a sermon in Spanish. When The Warning first performed this live they were joined on stage by their manager Rudy Joffroy dressed as a preacher in black delivering a sermon to the audience. At the Lunario in 2018 that moment looked apocalyptic! Rudy had difficulty keeping time with the band, so now you only have his prerecorded sermon. Here you can see Dany and Ale ‘mouthing’ the sermon. For a while Dust to Dust at the Teatro was the apex. It has now been eclipsed by the performance at the 2023 Pepsi Center. You won’t even hear the sermon this time, as it sounds like 8,000 fans are reciting the sermon themselves! Epic!
Their newest album is verrrry bass forward. In fact, I would say, the bass is the star of keep me Fed. Check out Automatic Sun, Dany plays Baritone guitar drop tuned to A, while Ale’s bass is also drop tuned to A. Their OMV for it is filmed at Tecate pal Norte festival with studio audio.
Dust to Dust is first song on the concept album Queen of the Murder Scene. The album tells the story of a teenage girl who becomes obsessed with someone and eventually kills that person. The Queen then descends into madness battling her inner demons from the murder and kills her self (IMO). Dust to Dust is her funeral and she is inviting you to stay and hear her story ( ie- don’t believe everything you have heard) and where are you goin it’s better to stay here ( listen to my story). This song begins the idea of recreation or the circular nature of humanity as the final song of the album The End (Stars Always Seem to Fade) brings up the same themes of recreation. Creating the circular nature of life and the album asking you to listen again. Brilliant writing from DPA when they were all teenagers!
I just saw them in New Jersey with 6 other bands, including Halestorm and The Offspring. I only actually saw 3 other bands but The Warning outplayed them all. Of course Lizzy Hale was the best vocalist but all things considered the warning was the best. The greatest difference being timing. Their timing was spot on perfect for every song. Far above anyone else there.
One of my favorite The Warning tracks, epic intro to The Queen of the Murder Scene, even more mind blowing when you realize the main riff was written by an 11 year old Ale!
Pau’s greatest gift as a lead vocalist (not necessarily shown in this one) is her ability to give very emotionally moving performances. Some great examples of that are her vocals on 23, Show Me the Light, Black Holes, and Breathe. (Incredible performances of the latter two from the Pepsi Center CDMX were recently released on their channel.)
This concert from 2022 was the "gold standard" of their live performances. Now, they're releasing songs from their 2023 performance at Pepsi Center CDMX and this has taken over the "gold". The sound recording, video, crowd participation as well as an added string section for their 10th anniversary of them being a "band" is all that.🤟⚡TWA
The best part of The Warning's song writing is that they leave their songs open to interpretation!!!! We can all connect with a song's meaning in different ways!
Also a few have mentioned thar D2D is the prologue of their concept album Queen of the Murder Scene. If you're interested in that album live, they performed the entire album, in order (interspersed with songs from their first album between chapters), at the Lunario and it's posted on their channel.
There's nowhere to hide in a three piece rock band. Every instrument and voice is integral and has to stand out, The Warning have understood this from a very young age. They do use some backing tracks, which they record themselves, and they do fail sometimes. When that happens they carry on undetered and it makes little or no difference to their performance. Dany also uses a delay on her guitar to help fill out the sound. A good power trio has a tendency to rise to the top. Great reaction, thanks man. ❤✌🤘⚡🔥
This is the prologue to their second album, Queen of the Murder Scene, a concept album about a young woman’s descent from romantic infatuation to obsession to madness and murder. This song is told from the protagonist’s perspective. Recommend listen to that whole album in order as it actually tells a story. Look forward to more reactions to The Warning! 😎👍
As the others have already said, Dust to Dust is the prologue track to their incredible Rock Novel Concept album "Queen of the Murder Scene" that tells a truly amazing story. In this one the ghost of the protagonist of the story is beckoning listeners to enter and hear her tale at her funeral. The album is amazing and for me the best way to hear it is to listen to the Lunario CDMX live performances in order, with the next song being Crimson Queen. Dany, Pau and Ale wrote and performed this album when they were barely into their teens, in fact Ale was only 13 when they played the entire album at Lunario.
Like others have mentioned, if there is a performance of the song at the Pepsi Centre, available on their UA-cam channel, use that instead, as it is by far the best quality/performance yet.
The shows The Warning cancelled was in Atlanta Georgia and Nashville Tennessee. They were worried about the safety of everyone involved with the large hurricane that was on the way. Good call if you ask me.
There are plenty of bands that I like a lot more in person than their albums. This is the first band I can think of that I like their live recordings significantly more than the album versions.
There is a misconception regarding playing the guitar and singing. Most think the person is using his or her hands/arms, and they are singing as well, making a total of three "moving parts", so to speak. That holds true only for those who play rhythm guitar and sing. Strumming chords and singing is, while not exactly easy, not a very rare thing to witness. When the guitar player begins to play lead and lead-type music on the guitar and sings as well, that is a completely different and exponentially more difficult task. When the guitarist is playing lead and singing simultaneously, it's not three moving parts, but eight; both arms, five fingers, and the voice, which each require individual thought and movement. Not only that, but the picking hand/arm is now being tasked doubly, as each string has to be selected as well. It is common for folks to be amazed at a singing drummer, Pau, for example, but to not give the singing guitarist a second thought. It is every bit as, if not more, difficult to play lead on a guitar while singing. There are fewer people who can do that than there are singing drummers; WAY fewer. It's the reason many/most bands have a separate guitarist to play lead. Sometimes they have a rhythm guitarist who carries vocal duties and, sometimes, the band will have a vocalist who only sings, sans instrument. Dany is one of the unicorns who does play lead (and rhythm) while she is singing. Again, it is exceptionally difficult to do. Off the top of my head, I cannot think of anyone else from the world of rock'n'roll who does it. What she is playing during the verses of this song, for instance, while she's adding to the vocals, is mind-bending. I am not throwing shade on Pau, but rather shedding light on Dany. She is one of the most talented people in the music industry right now, and she gets very little notice for it. I challenge any guitar player to play a multi-note solo, of any degree of difficulty, and sing a song at the same time. Dany is AWESOME! Rant over.
My friend: The Warning... one of the Best Bands in the World!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You think this is good? (And it is!!) Wait until you check out songs The Warning are releasing from their concert at Pepsi Center CDMX (btw CDMX = Cuidad de Mexico, i.e. Mexico City). It is next, next level. Pau (the drummer) was very sick and her sisters were recovering and not at 100%. Despite being not at a 100% and at 7350 feet above sea level they put on an absolutely incredible show! Next, next level type of stuff!
A solid live performance that really gained them some fans is the 2023 VMA live performance they did of their song, "Evolve." Pau, the drummer, has a really fun moment in that song and I won't spoil it for you... you need to experience it for yourself. :-)
Only that … in this case, it is the bassist who keeps time... Alejandra is called the "human metronome" because she has an innate sense of time and rhythm, she even has an absolute ear for music... Paulina and Dany... David that all starts with Ale... Paulina synchronizes her snare hits with each note of the bass and the strong syllables or the strums of the guitar Dany marks them... or with Pau's drums or with the Ale's digitation... that's why the band sounds so tied up... literally, Ale is the one who leads them and assembles them... according to themselves in several interviews... it's not for nothing that many songs start with a bass...Ale tells them how to go...
Great reaction. Thank you. Like everyone said ... QOTMS is a great album written by a bunch of tween/teens. They got their inspiration from reading books, mixed with their own experiences and feelings. The music and lyrics are lean and mean ... no fat or fluff here. It's hard not to love their music from then and from now.
D2D makes A LOT more sense in the context of the album QUEEN OF THE MURDER SCENE (commonly referred to as QOTMS) which is a concept album in which a woman’s love for someone is unrequited-she goes on a murderous rampage and falls into a psychotic rage as her evil side takes over. Ultimately, her good side “wins” as she become repentant and kills herself. In Dust to Dust (D2D), the listener is at the girls funeral, listening to the Sermon by the Spanish-speaking Preacher-the song serves as both the Prologue and (in a circular fashion) the Finale of the story told on the album
I'm assuming you are in the UK. They are touring there early next year. If you have the chance to go to their show don't pass it up. Fantastic! Great reaction!!
I'm 55 and I've seen a lot of bands live through the 80s and 90s until music went to shit. This is the best sound and show I've ever been to when i went to see them live.
A weird few second blank section after the video intro... I don't know where that came from... first time that's happened... weird.
The metronome for the band is Ale the bassist.
Didn't notice the blank, so no worry.
This is how to make a great reaction to music!

Let this sink in. Queen of the Murder Scene was written when they were probably 17,15, and 11. Such an amazing concept album!
Nice watch brother ..... Yep.... If They are near you GOOOO TO IT !!!!!

I guess Lunario has been bumped to the Bronze standard.

Another Warning song that starts with a great bassline is Disciple. It's one of their best.
