    You're the man! Why has it taken so long for someone to think of such a simple yet, amazingly practical reticle? Now, I'm not saying designing it was simple I'm saying it's not a complicated reticle.

    quick question and I apologize if I missed something: at 2:30, you say "this target is BIGGER than the Chevron", but it looks like the (width of) the target is slightly SMALLER than the Chevron (?). Everything else makes sense, assuming that was a verbal typo. It makes total sense that since the Chevron width corresponds to 300 yards and if the target is smaller than that Chevron width, then it would, in fact, be past 300 yards. I hesitate to ask this question, as it seems like I have missed something, but any clarification you could provide on this point would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Trying to pick my first scope is a difficult thing. I keep coming back to the PA 1-8 accs then the raptor pops up making me second guess my choice. I want to buy one scope and not have any buyers remorse later on. Your friends are lucky they can try out all your cool stuff first. Thank you for the video.

    I was looking for a scope for my newest build, a 458 Socom and I came across something that I hope you could confirm. ACCORDING to STRELOK, this scope could be used for the 458 socom. Using a zero of about 120 yards for lighter loads, the bottom line for 600 yards .556/.308 comes close to 300 yards. The wind dots are closer to 4 & 8mph rather than 5 & 10 mph. Also, the hash marks for 400, 500, 600 can be used for ranging but instead of 18 inches, it is equivalent to 9 inches. 9 inches is still usable for ranging, just use centerline (zipper, belt buckle, etc) to the outside.

    I want that one. When I built my Spikes Tactical 223/5.56 AR I was running low on funds and bought Primary Arms' first Gen 1-6x w/ ACSS reticle. Then the expensive $1200 or $1300 1-8x came out which I wanted but couldn't and last year you guys release a 1-6x and a 1-8x with the new chevron instead of the dot which made me mad cuz there was a cheaper 1-8x out and now here's a more simplified version of the ACSS w/out the range finder on the right side. I've almost everything I've ever bought for ARs which is more than 2 but less than 10 I bought from Primary Arms and got my coworker and dad ordering from there. I alone have probably spent $6000-$8000 ordering from there. Figures no new I'm better stuff is coming out I can't afford any new toys. I really want a 1-8x ACSS Raptor scope. 😭

      I put a Raptor on a 13.7" carbine I built. Love the optic, but haven't had a chance to field test yet going between 100-600, back again and all over yet. According to Strelok Pro, 1" high at 100 should make everything line up super nice with 55gr FMJ. Gonna have to test with some M193 and some 75gr HPBT handloads to see how they line up, but Strelok has always done me right and gets me on target out to 1200 yards with other rifles.

    on the 3x micro prism, with the raptor 5.56 yards reticle, how many MOA is the bottom of the chevron?
    based on my calculations, if the 300 yard hold over is also 18" @ 300 yards, then that would equate to the bottom of the chevron( from left tip to right tip) would be approx. 6 MOA.

      Yes the BDC Tree will be off because its calibrated to 100yards. There are several graphs which show the basic velocity and trajectories of 55gr and 62gr for various zeros. Use those to gues-i-mate your BDC if zeroing outside of 100yds.

    It was stated in this video that the donut portion of the reticle is etched, so it will always be red despite possibly despite having a dead battery. For mine, that is certainly is not the case. Are there other models of this scope that I may not know about?

    • @nativewarrior5052
      @nativewarrior5052 2 роки тому

      The reticle being laser etched, means that the reticle will ALWAYS be there, and doesn't rely on batteries to function like a holographic sight or red dot.
      The ILLUMINATION makes the reticle red and runs on a battery, but the optic doesn't need illumination to have a visible reticle.
      I only use my illumination in low light situations.

      I'll be listing the MOA of the Raptor Ret here in a few days when I figure it out. Why Dimitri didnt include those figures.. IDK... He did say a target from the bottom of the chevron to the bottom line is 500 yards away...so I am ass-u-ming that is based on a 5 foot 10 object, so 70 inches at 500 yards, and from the top of the vert line to the bottom is 600 yards..again ass-u-ming 70 inches at 600 means the vert line is a MOA of 35 so 5.8 MOA at 100 yards.

      I believe with a FFP scope you should be able to measure on any power. Thats the benefit of it over a SFP scope. As the target grows when you dial up the magnification, as does the retical, ensuring the retical to always be a true representation and available to measure.

    What specific bullet weight/load for 5.56 was used for the bdc? I recently attended a class shooting out to 650 yds shooting 55gr ball. Obviously not the best long range round but nevertheless the bdc was way off for that bullet weight. I was holding way off into space at the bottom of the scope at 575 and not able to hit anything past 525. Could have been the ammo but even at 300 I had to hold higher than the bdc indicated. Btw I’m shooting a 16” BCM mid length. Shot the instructors 14.5 BCM shooting 77gr OTM and was getting 1st round hits at 650 with his dope on a mil reticle with a wind hold. Set it at 1x and the circle essentially becomes a single dot for cqb. Take into account height over bore just like a red dot.

    • @gunsandcommissions
      @gunsandcommissions 3 роки тому

      For longer shots (50-100yds), you can choose a different magnification or whatever works for you, but out closer to 100 yards, use the point of the chevron (if it’s sighted at 100yds). In closer (25-50yds), use the height over the bore to make an estimation. But we’re talking about fractions of an inch.
      You’ll need to adjust if you’re using a different sight in like 50-200, but this is a ranging reticle, not a precision reticle (although, in the right hands, it’s plenty precise).

      and just to de-fang this incorrect statement by you...graduation marks are simply marks at a set distance apart...things effected by gravity fall at the same rate, their velocity extends only the distance that fall occurred in. Dropping a 1oz pill takes X time to reach the ground, and shooting a 1 oz pill 100 miles an hour still takes the same amount of time for that pill to reach the ground, it just reaches the ground farther away from the place you dropped the other other 1oz pill. the difference between 1oz and 1,1oz and even 2oz would be nearly indistinguishable as would 110MPH or even 125MPH... so in the PA manual it shows that 5.56 M855 62 gr fired from a 14.5" will have the same trajectory as a .223 55gr VMAX, and 7.62x31 / 308 M80 147 with only a +1" upward deviation at 100yards...it also shows the +/- of elevation from sea level giving dope for 1000ft, 2000ft and 3000ft above sea level..this is due to air density....you need to read the manual...

      @@sailure1 only hold over you could use is 100. This is just a 300 chart comparison you can see how bad it gets at just 300 let alone more. Wasn't trying to start an argument just sharing it didn't makes sense to me when the bullet drops are not even close.

    Great reticle, just sucks it's in such marginal glass. PA is excellent at being average. I'd gladly pay more if it meant y'all would step up your glass and turret game a tad.
