Hi, my sweet baby is 14years old and before with problem in her heart. The December the doctor say to give her vetmedin 2 times the day. From when she start to give her that pill it start to have many effects side, one of this is with her eyes and some times is not stable suddenly and also the cough is getting worse. and today almost lose her. She had like epilepsy episode, but without shacking. She falling back and crying and her body it was like a stone at the begging and then she stop breathing . I thought that I lose her. I take her to the doctor and her heart is bigger, 12,5 points and she have also and at trachea, because of her heart, liquid and trachea is not in the right place because of hear heart is to dig. I don't understand if that pill help the dogs with so many effects that not only my dog have but and other dogs. And why to not stop giving that pill? I mean the doctor say to take that pill for the rest of her life. But my dog it getting worse and not better. If someone have some opinion or anything that it will help me , I will appreciate . I don't wanna to lose her.

Hi please give Vetmadin only once a day. Do NOT give Vetmadin 2 times a day. My dog also fainted like epilepsy with twice a day. Please please just once a day. For coughing use one drop (1 drop only) Food Grade Hydrogen peroxide (make sure it I'd Food Grade).
Start cooking for your dog vegetables. Brocolli, spinach, chicken
Add Omega 3 ask the Vet.
Put a humidifier in the room. Give them warm water with coconut oil.
My dog is 14 also I'm giving with CBD oil and RSO Phoenix Tears. You need to Google all this.

My baby is 14 yrs. He has been prescribed this medicine when he was coughing . Doc examined and said he has heart condition. He has been taking this med since 4 months. No improvement. Condition getting worse. Panting a lot after only 10 minutes of walk.
Your dog is probably still coughing because it has water in its lungs. My dog takes vetmedin as well as lasix which is commonly called furosemide. Together these two drugs work miracles. Furosemide takes out the water in the lungs. However it's got some bad side effects which is liver damage. In order to prevent this you got to make sure your dog drinks lots of water and pees outside. No problem I always keep lots of water for my dogs and make sure that they drink a lot of water.I also have several places in the house with pads so that they can go pee there or I also take them outside a lot of times.
I was given vetmedin and lasix .
Is there a natural one instead of furosemide
My mom's dog got put on heart medication for a heart murmur and within just a few weeks he went from normal happy dog to just a mess. He's now completely blind with thick cataracts in both eyes, he has no energy, he can't walk straight but just spins around in circles which he got put on another medication for that which just fucked him up even more, he can't shit properly it just comes out of him as a mess if it comes out at all. He shits all over himself smells up the whole house. It's just miserable. When my mom asked if she should lower the dose of the heart medication the vet told her she shouldn't even though the dog's now completely fucked up.
If your dog is still with us I urge you to try herbal remedies which are highly effective Hawthorn Berry ubiquinol are 2 brilliant substitutes
My beagle has heart problems. I put him on low sodium diet. But I use Q10 and Dandelion and Hawthorn. He better.

I switch from Vetmedin to Cardisure (pimobendan) as it was much cheaper and its in a flavored chewie. I'm sure you wont have a problem if you switch to Cardisure. Its the same ingredient (pimobendan)...just a different brand.

I just gave my dog half of vetmedin pill because doctor said he needs to take it from now on for the rest of his ramaining days and he vomited all night and shacked

Can I just stop giving my dog vetmedin? He has been taking it for two months. I do not want him on it any longer. He is also on flurosimide. He has an enlarged heart and a heart murmur. He has been coughing for years. He is 10 years old. The research I'm doing shows that his liver is going to be destroyed by this medication. It appears that letting it alone gave him a longer lifespan. This way they say six months till the liver is destroyed.
Hi there. I just started my 15 yr old mini poo on this medication as well as the other you are using and a blood pressure pill. She’s on her second day. I was wondering what your experience was with your own dog...mine is still fainting with hardly any exertion...And hasn’t wanted any food today just water...I’m hoping I will see positive results as she has the will to live.
Hi Tanya & Ronda, I will be starting my mini long haired dachshund on Pimobendan as well as Frusemide and eventually Benazepril when she develops congestion. These medications was perscribed by a cardiologist and i have ordered the pills. Will get it in two days and reading up on Pimobendan. According to all the physicians it seems like a great drug that would benefit dogs with MMVD and Heart Murmurs but reading customer reviews I'm now totally freaked out about the side effects and I havent read one good review as yet.

That is not true! It does NOT destroy the dogs liver. Stop lying! Smh. My 13 year old ShihTzu was prescribed this his vet and cardiologist and they said your statement is a complete lie. Please do not believe this liar.
