I’m in Los Angeles. And a Consultation and check up is $40 and an X-ray is $190.. they can tell you a lot with an X-ray alone and other tests might be needed
I went to multiple vets and was told anything from asthma, to allergies to pollen, and it’s nothing to worry about it’s the breed. The day of my best friends passing that emergency vet couldn’t even diagnose with the obvious signs and told me a blood transfusion would be needed from just touching him, nothing more. It wasn’t until I raced to a veterinarian hospital I was told about heart murmurs etc. Thanks to atleast 4 incompetent vets I lost my best friend
I lost our family’s 6 year old Maltese due to a late diagnosis of diabetic coma (diagnosed the day of her decease (death), remembered bringing her in frequently for skin allergies but the vet failed to tell us about her weight and nothing was “wrong” with the blood work drawn on her throughout her lifespan. The excuse they stated was that she was drinking excessive amounts of water (mind you that she has done this all her life). Due to veterinary negligence, our dog deceased July 4th,2022 in the evening. Still pissed off to this day! Had they told us about watching her weight or blood sugar prior, she would’ve still been alive!
I wish I had researched more when they discovered our dog had a heart murmur, although the vet said it was common and never said that it was serious or require further checks. Eventually it developed into congestive heart failure, which she was treated for, but again the vets told us her lungs were clear when we rushed her there during episodes of coughing/breathing difficulties, suggesting that it was possibly a trachea issue. There was no urgency at the start and I wish I had pushed. She was fine between these short coughing/breathing episodes, but on the third visit, she had so much fluid build up that the treatment didn't work. We sadly lost her a month after the congestive heart failure was picked up. She was only 2 days from seeing a specialist when she passed. We will never know what was actually wrong with her heart, but the change was so sudden.💔
@@standforhumanitariancauses4756 I'm sorry to hear that. Yes, through the years he's gone on the usual visits, to an old school vet. He's actually improved noticeably since starting on dandelion tincture. The improvement began before any diuretic effect took place, so it seems to be from anti-inflammatory action of the dandelion. Especially with lung power. More zippy, less panting.
@@Individualati When my dog first began to show symptoms, i took her immediately to the vet, they've done a complete blood work, and X-ray imagings. She had a grade 4 heart murmur and an enlarged heart and pulmonary edema. She stayed on medication for one year and 3 months, before she succumbed to her disease. Toward the end, she had a huge abdomen filled with excessive fluid. It was an awful ending, and she took her last breath laying on the bed next to me.
How's your dog doing now? how old is he? how often do you take him for check up? and what grade heart murmur does he have now?? My dog passed away last week.
@@standforhumanitariancauses4756 I'm sorry for your loss rocky will be 2 in Dec he has recently had a check and they said they cant hear it any more and his heart sounds fine they said sometimes they can grow out of it he is doing really well how old and what breed was yours if you don't mind me asking
@@littlemissbossy1000 Thank you for responding. My Chihuahua was 12 years and 3 months old. She had pulmonary edema. Toward the end she had a lot of fluid in her abdomen area, but initially started out in her lungs and had an enlarged heart, She stayed on medication for one year and two months. But medications could only do so much.
@@bocamidtowneanimalhospital Hi Dr. How long can you prolong dog's life if the heart murmur is detected at its early stages? Does heart murmur cause CHG, or is mitral valve insufficiency, or dilated cardiomyopathy?
This all sounds expensive
Yeah we had to put our dog down due to this.
Very $$$$$$ ☹️

And most of these vets play on your sympathy and charge lots of money it's disgusting
My dog died of a heart attack because he had CHF and a heart murmur but they originally said it was an esophagus problem….
Please leave reviews on those vets websites and reviews with the veterinary boards

Thank u for the info. Help to see a 2nd opinion with seeing a different Dr. you opinion is welcomed.
Who can people afford all these test.
It is expensive and only slows down the progression of the disease.
That's what I'm researching now, tne progression and what if anything can be done. From Grade 4. And what happens at the end.

Im sorry frickin what? It's sad for the dog to have that but it's a dog, not a human. One x-ray is more than enough. A new dog costs a lot less.
