Joint Medication for Dogs (Carprofen)

Joint Medication for Dogs (Carprofen)
My cat is 16 this year, and she's eating but not pooping, she's also loosing weight rapidly
So do the side effects, which can be quite troubling, make the extra year of life worth it? I would want my dog to have a wonderful last year, not a year of being force fed medication that causes vomiting, diarrhea, and even death.
My old cat had a thyroid problem!! Thyroid numbers way way high !!
What are the supplements? Because the site has nothing for hyperthyroidism in dogs at all
I have been using a generic version of Carprofen and vet recommended a 100 mg tablet cut in half twice a day. It seems to have helped my pup but the cutting in half is not working as the tablets crumble.. I do not seem to be able to find 50mg tablets what do I do?
Rovera aka Carprofen is a terrible, disgusting, and toxic "medication" that killed my dog by causing him to bleed to death in the form of bloody diarrhea as well as VOMITING BLOODY POOP! My dog vomited actual crap because of this worthless drug.
My cat used to weigh 18lbs 3 years ago then for a year he was 15 and in the past 12 mos he is down to 8.6lbs. My vets only have expensive solutions. I don’t have $3500 for a Diagnosis.
Thank you for your time for making this video. I love dogs more than kids, the kids never leave.
Love the clear info and also Beasily!
These meds don't work
my 7 year old dog was diagnosed with hypothyroidism so i was old from one friend to consult with Planet ayurveda for herbal medication and my dog started showing improvement very soon
What supplement did you give your dog? Would love to know. Thanks
You do lose muscle mass as you age. Which means you lose weight from age… no?
My 13 year old chihuahua, MoMo, has a stage 5 to 6 heart murmur. He can go into heart failure anytime now and vetmedin seems to be making his day to day life better. He is sleeping and he is not crying every minute of the day. I always knew his murmur was getting bad but the vet didn't prescribe this till its about too late. If your dog is coughing (wet) constantly... Tell your vet and get medicine. I am sad because my dog didn't have to suffer. There was medicine out there to help but I didn't research. By the way, all my pets see a vet every 6 months. It can be expensive but I volunteered myself when I got pets. Also, there is a generic. For 10 pills, it was about 90 dollars, generic is about 15. I didn't know there was a generic until I said I can't afford it but then changed my mind and came back with a credit card.
How's your dog doing now? My Chihuahua passed away last week. When did you find out that your dog had heart murmur?
@@standforhumanitariancauses4756 it was about 4 years prior. At first it was a small one. My cat has had one her whole life for 15 years and never progressed. She will probably put live me, (that b*tch) lol. Momo is getting worse. Some days are better than others. Upped his pain meds and about to do x rays and other test to see if there is other medicine that can help. To be honest my baby is driving me nuts. I can't sleep and neither can he
Out live me I mean
How do we go about buying meds off you guys???
How can I order from your pet mart?
Had my 16 year old cat bloods done told there better than a four year old cat. So why is he losing weight
Same with our 15 year old cat. She’s now 2.1kg extremely boney and lethargic yet eating like she’s never been fed, drinking excessive amounts of water and all blood works normal.
Thank you for the information. Makes me feel better about my Senior Cats condition. Taking her to the Vet.
Thank you so much for the very informative information.
i adopted a 6 year old dog last september , she was heavily overweight and shortly got a very bad ear infection, which until today is still present . I have been to 5 vets , did all kind of blood works, CT scan, steroids, antibiotics etc NOBODY could help. I've given up on Vets all they want is $$$$. As i said her ear infection is still there, not as bad as it was , but. I have changed food (home cooked 50% Meat 50% vegetables) Olive tree capsules , Lions mane , Multivitamins , Salmon oil , green lipped mussels, chia seeds etc. after watching a few videos on Hypothyroidism in Dogs, i think that's what this dog have ? I can't get those supplements here in the UK but i ordered some other Thyroids supplements, lets hope it will help/heal this dog . She is still overweight and sleeps most of the time .
Our dog who has hypothyroidism also had issues with ear infections! I think they are linked I’d defo recommend getting it checked out (and similar conditions - diabetes, Cushings etc). Worst case you can tick them off the list
I don’t love the price
It’s $120 a month here. Wow. Have to get yet another source of income to cover this one
169 here (for one dogs ) he take 3 times a day and my other 2 daily In total just for one month 271$ plus furosemide plus another one
£45.36 here in the UK for 60 tablets with a prescription from the vet which allows you to order online compared to buying from our vets for £160 for 60 tablets.
My little Annie takes this and she’s really benefiting from it.
This is good , my dog has used it and it did help. You need to condition afterwards as it dries the skin up
Not it dry the dogs sink
Great video with such important information. This is a growing concern as more consumers order prescriptions online. Thanks for sharing!
I took my 13 year old cat to the vet and they did a blood test which came back the GLU is 202 . They told me she has a high blood sugar and to not give her more then 15% protein.. but I read that cats blood sugar gets to 300-400 temporarily from being stressed or anxious idk if anything they told me is right .. my cat was 3 kg now she is 1.7 kg plz help I don’t know how to make her gain weight
My cat is about to turn 20. He's been losing weight for years and has been checked twice since he started. I was told they sometimes just get old and don't eat as much, but he's down to about 7 lbs. He was about 15 in his prime. Guess its time to have him checked for a third time. Poor old guy also has a tumor in the corner of his eye and nobody thinks he'll survive anesthesia to have it removed.
Way to expensive!
What is this medication even called? He didn’t mention it or list it anywhere.
Vetmedin. It helped my dog for a year and now her symptoms are back. She faints when she gets excited...its awful and extremely traumatic to watch every day. We have another Cardiologist appointment in a week. She is a 17.5 Bichon Maltese. I know she's old but she still wants to play and again she can't.
My German shepherd 6 year old female was diagnosed 3 weeks ago and she continued to LOSE weight. About 20 pounds. She had all the other symptoms except weight gain. We’ve been three weeks in medication and she doing better. Not all herself, but more alert. Vet said it takes a while. I’m hoping for the best..
I found out my dog has it too it really shocked me
Isn't there for cats?
Boehringer Ingelheim Owns ( Merial labs )
I found out that my dog has hypothyroidism. I find it funny that he and I are taking the same medication, and almost the same dosage even.
What medication is it?
This is absolutetly wrong! My dog was 1month on this shit and he has now stopped eating for 2days, lethargic, diarhea, heart beating like a bomb not even letting him sleep, its shaking his whole body, vomiting. I stopped it today and he started eating, he had energy to go outside pee, came for cuddles and actually walked. He could not on this med! He also started having cloudy eyes! This Medication is killing dogs! People should never give this medication to their dogs!
Interesting to read as my 16 yo jack russell is recommending this for her. He also recommended it exactly 12 mths ago but I took her off due to side effects. After 1 year she's doing great on herbal supplements. Like your dog, her heart rate went through the roof on vetmedin it was like she was drinking red bull. If a dog is at deaths door it may be of use but I've read many opinions like yours to make me wary of it.
I too experienced the same with my dog. Back to his old self two days off of this vile medication.
Carprofen kills dogs. Do not trust any vet that prescribes it. Google "carprofen" and "death" or "carprofen" and "seizures".
My vet prescribed this for itching cause by a grass allergy. She said it stop the itching. I update once I see results.
Famous last words
@@xkb360x well mayb he or his dog dead already lol
Mine both lost weight...all tests I had done came back nornal...
This helped me with my cat gaining weight, buy chicken heart, liver, and gizzard, prepare foods throughout the week and try to have them wean off of kibble as much as you can, I put a little bit of kibble, some eggs and stir it all up with the chopped liver, heart, and gizzards. search up raw cat food diets and try to learn from there, it also helped my old man with his bowel issues
Same, my cat is seventeen and I just got back the same thing. We got him eating wet food instead of kibble. But, he's definitely not eating as much he may even be lethargic.
I want this maedcen
thanks
My mom's dog got put on heart medication for a heart murmur and within just a few weeks he went from normal happy dog to just a mess. He's now completely blind with thick cataracts in both eyes, he has no energy, he can't walk straight but just spins around in circles which he got put on another medication for that which just fucked him up even more, he can't shit properly it just comes out of him as a mess if it comes out at all. He shits all over himself smells up the whole house. It's just miserable. When my mom asked if she should lower the dose of the heart medication the vet told her she shouldn't even though the dog's now completely fucked up.
If your dog is still with us I urge you to try herbal remedies which are highly effective Hawthorn Berry ubiquinol are 2 brilliant substitutes
My beagle has heart problems. I put him on low sodium diet. But I use Q10 and Dandelion and Hawthorn. He better.

If you see your cat loosing weight at around 12-15 years, hyperthyroidism, kidney failure or diabetes is probably the culprit. The choice then becomes yours as to how much you want to spend on your cat to possibly extend his life expectancy. All tests and treatments cost money. There is no guarantee that treatment will work without side effects. There is no telling how much longer the cat will live even the ailment is correctly diagnosed and treated. A veterinary clinic is a business. They are generally staffed by good, caring, animal loving people who are trying to make a decent living. Cats will live without vets. Vets will not live without cats. There are many kittens and other healthy cats looking for homes. The choice is yours.
It’s not ALWAYS the culprit
Good advice, we love our animals but trying to extend the inevitable with tons of money is not fair to you or your pet. Most drugs do harm to other organs so your trading one problem and unfortunately creating another problem. The paper that comes with the drug explaining all the horrible side effects is not in black and white for no reason at all. Believe what you read not what the Vets telling you. Because this is a money-making business.
I was just thinking about this. I lost one of my cats four years ago. I took him to the vet, & spent thousands of dollars, & he still passed away. They were charging me to keep him for three days & they knew he was dying. It was some type of disease that took his breath in the end. He died gasping for air 😢. I wish I had just put him to sleep 😢, instead of listening to those damn vets. And I've been going to them for years. But he was loved to the end. Now his brother is sick & rapidly losing weight . He has an appointment in a few days at another vet clinic. I love my fur babies so much. I hope they can save him.😢👏🏿
Vets will take advantage of the love that you have for your cat. At the end of the day it’s your cat that dies not theirs. I am facing the end of live with my 19 year old cat now and I am having a hard time with it. Very confusing as to what to do. A trip to the vet is very traumatic and the last time it took our cat 2 weeks to get back to normal. I don’t want to be bilked out of money but at the same time I want to do everything I can. She has a good appetite but is losing weight. She broke her leg up close to her hip a few years ago and I know that is bothering her. According to the vet she is going blind. She is on a special purina food for her kidneys. The vet did a close to $600.00 thyroid surgery on her 2 years ago and I think the tumor on the thyroid is back. She has had 3 seizures. Actually I am thinking they were strokes because her right side was paralyzed briefly. I have actually started digging her grave. I am getting too old to dig it all at once so little by little I am digging it. This will be the last cat that I will have. It’s amazing at the expense involved in taking care of just one cat. The special food alone is not cheap. Some people don’t understand how hard it is losing a cat that has been with you for years. It’s like losing a family member. I want to thank you and the other people in this comment section. I’ve read this thread of comments and all have certainly helped. I realize that I am not the only person who has lost a pet.

5 Tips for Helping Your Dog with Degenerative Myelopathy, see here www.dogfollowers.com/5-tips-for-helping-your-dog-with-degenerative-myelopathy/
I made the mistake of putting my dog on a grain free can diet. at least it was canned but omg it contributed to his chf. dont use grain free and do your homework on food. i had to dump all my grain free Blue Buffalo and went to regular Blue and Natures Recipe no more grain free. its true! I thought my dog had a respiratory infection.. ha..thank God i took him to Vet ER
I have been using this here in California for my cat for her full life-span of 5 years now, and it's great! I love this product and you can find it for a better price on chewy.com. I highly recommend this product it works up to 12 weeks, so pretty much every 2 1/2 months - 3 months you would re-apply it.
Surgery IS available overseas with high success rates on the various heart conditions. My cardio doctor outright lied about it, which they all seem to...so my dog died. You all need to know that they can get help other than pills outside the U.S. Japan, and London, among other areas. Yes, it's expensive, but if your dog is too young to die and you can get things rolling immediately, you can save your dog most likely!
How much is the surgery? what's the success rate? My dog passed away last week. It's been really difficult.
to bad it cost way to much
Well worth it tho! Don’t have pets if your can’t afford them
i went to the vet because my cat is 12 years old and he’s really skinny but apparently he just has a really fast metabolism
I hot mine's thyroid checked and it was okay so he must have diabetes or kidney disease :(
@Spiritdove Yeah. Could be kitty aids even.
That’s how my cat has been for almost 2 decades. I always thought he was skinny so when I took him to the vet he was actually 9 pounds when he was 12 pounds almost 2 years ago
