    Pro tip: before you start messing with the deck, make sure the tires are all inflated. I spent a good hour trying to figure out why my deck was HIGH on the right side. Turns out, the left rear tire was deflated. 🤦

    Thank you for your post. After searching for the past 5 hours, your video turned the light bulb on in my mind. My problem is, my Husqvarna only has 6 settings and I would like to mow even higher. In the highest 6th position, it cuts at about 3.5 inches and I would like to go higher to 4 plus inches. Have fescue in North Georgia and it looks good cut high and less trouble when it comes to the bagger. And I certainly don't want to hit anything! So now thanks to you I know how to raise the entire deck above and beyond the 6th position. THANK YOU. GOD BLESS!

    I solved this problem on mine by buying anther adjustable lift link like the one on left side and put it on the right side, now the whole deck can be adjusted to where I need it.,,,, and the left link fits on the right side perfectly.......

    Nice fix! I recently ran into a customer's issue similar to yours. This mower would cut lower on the adjustable side than the other. I took the adjustment rod off the mower and put a slight bend in it to raise the left side. It worked, had to do it a couple of times to get it right, but it solved the problem. Bad engineering by the manufacture not being able to adjust both sides.

    • @doublewide6
      @doublewide6  7 років тому +1

      I thought about shortening the rod, but I did not want to do anything permanent to the customers mower.

    YOUR CLOSE ! What I 've done is swap the 2 rods . I put the Ridgid rod on the LH side (Control Side) and put the adjustable rod on the RH side. Works perfect and lasts a long time. My height adjustments read 1=0, 2=1.0" 3= 1.25" 4= 2.0" 5= 2-5" and 6=3.0" Front to rear is .25" up difference in the rear of the deck. And the adjustments were made with Mulch blades installed and Oregon Height scale.

      Oklahoman, I'm trying to level mine or at least get all of the 1-6 adjustments to function. I can't seem to get all 6 heights and when I read your comment about number one being 0", I'm wondering if it's because I'm trying to adjust everything on the concrete. The little deck wheels are hitting the floor at #3... Any advice would be greatly appreciated 👍

    For side to side level measurement, I use a 4 -5 inch bolt, put 2 nuts on it (the bottom nut keeps the top from moving once you set it) I go to the chute side and place the top nut to where it just fits under the cut side of the blade. Then on the opposite blade side whereyou can't see, you can put the bolt there and feel if it fits. If not you raise it until it does... usually you can place your thumb in the spot where the blade hits on the bolt to get an idea of how much you need to move it.

    Just bought a 46" cut Craftsman and it cuts my yard just like your neighbors. After checking tire pressure it was shipped with some over inflated tires on one side. I adjusted the pressure and raised the front of the deck up some, it was off about 1/4 inch lower than it should be. Mowed and it appears to be mowing level.
    UPDATE: Noticed some streaking in the yard and checked the blades and found one side to be 5/16" lower than the other. Tried the pin but it didn't do anything. Calling Sears to get some direction. If they can't fix it, they can come get it.

    Great video Bob, I believe Husqvarna builds these. So with that being said I will look at my Husqvarna, however, I have not noted it cutting uneven, I also changed the spindles. Maybe that took care of it? Take care my friend.

    • @doublewide6
      @doublewide6  7 років тому +1

      Yes, same as Husqvarna. The lower you have the deck set the better the cut will be because of the wheels. This mower cuts very low you need to be on setting 5 or you will be scalping the grass.

    Why not just cut that rod,thread it with a tap and die set and add a rod coupling nut from Home Depot and add nuts on both top and bottom of it to lock it. You should be able to adjust it with the rod coupling nut

    Cool video. I have a low end Troy bilt riding mower that doesn't have deck wheels. Any ideas on how I can get an even cut with it? I'm assuming I will have to retrofit some deck wheels but I wanted your input if you don't mind.

    • @doublewide6
      @doublewide6  7 років тому +1

      Start by leveling the deck. Cut blocks of wood at 2.5 inches, put them under the blade tips and adjust the deck. Turn the blades front to back and do the same thing but keep the front 1/4" lower than the back. Go cut and report back the results.

    I gave up on my Husqvarna and turned it into a cart pulling tractor. I found my deck to be sprung soon after I got it and the spindles on the blades were out of alignment. I tried shimming them to no avail. I even had the middle blade shaft on my commercial New Holland mower deck bend the mounting surface on the deck. That metal was at least an eighth inch thick. I think it hit a stump and bent the deck. There is a lot of force in a spinning blade. I mow my grass three inches high and I still get into trouble. Of course it is from operator abuse.

    • @doublewide6
      @doublewide6  7 років тому

      If you have a bent deck from hitting something it is very difficult to spring it back to where it should be. You are best looking for a used deck that you can swap out, if possible.

    I have a Husqvarna yth22V46 and it has just one adjustment and a rod like is on your craftsman and I was wondering what size hair pin did you use for the rod to help with your adjustment and what is a good blade height to cut grass on for the manuel states 2.5 inches on cool days and 3 inches on hot days. I was cutting mine on setting three, not sure what the inches were and had a weld break on the deck where the handle the lifts the deck to the bracket is was broke had it repaired and they adjusted it and now my 3 setting has gone to a 4 cause the 3 setting is now to low and the 4 setting is to high, can you help with this issue?

Still, the left side (oriented when you’re sitting on the mower) is still the low side. The side where you installed the hair pin, is the high side. Any suggestions?

    • @doublewide6

      Great question:::: Only 1 pin needed. The side that you do the adjustment on leave it alone. The opposite side from the adjustment gets the pin. You will not believe how well it cut. Make sure you pitch the deck from front to back.
