The TX22 is my carry gun. At 74, had to give up my Colt Commander .45 that I carried for 45 years. Old hands, weaker control, but TX22, I can unload 16 rounds into basketball size target in 3 seconds, I somehow miss the 17th round, but I'll work on it. Love the light weight and grip on the Taurus, better than any other gun I own or have tried.
There's a +5 mag extension that's relatively easy to install on the mags provided with the pistol, it's makes both mags 21+1 if you so would like to go that round

Just bought one of these. 3rd gun purchase in my life. Age 46. Also a Ruger 10/22 and Glock 19. Very much a newbie…learning a lot on this channel and enjoying the hell outta target practice!
Started watching in 2008 trying to learn about what my first pistol purchase should be. Got a g19. Never regretted it. And have never regretted a Hickok45 video since.
I bought the TX-22 last year. My first Taurus, but it has run really good with all sorts of bulk 22 ammo and was great to keep training during the ammo shortage and high cost.
Outstanding pistol...a close friend has put thousands of rounds through his with no issues. Absolute tack driver, I was hitting clay targets at 50 yards. Dirt cheap reliable fun.
The TX 22 is designed and manufactured in the USA. Mine fits my hand perfectly, in fact it’s the most ergonomic gun I have ever owned. I have shot a variety of ammo through it and it seems to prefer Aguila and CCI ammo. It doesn’t like the cheap bulk ammo like Remington or Federal although many TX22 owners have no problems with that ammo.

I just bought the Taurus 22 day before yesterday and went to the range today. Wow, what a great, fun little gun to shoot. A terrific plinker. I was just using bulk ammo of different types that was thrown into a bucket all mixed together. I didn't have a single failure of any kind. Amazing. Taurus finally got something right! Will be a good gun to practice sight acquisition and trigger control without breaking the bank on ammo.
My first purchased handgun and I definitely don't regret buying it. One malfunction but with proper cleaning and care, haven't had a single issue since!
Purchased TX 22 in early 2020 jammed with everything I put in it. Sent it back to Taurus they put a new barrel in it. Shoots everything now even the cheap stuff. Found another at a pawnshop. This one also shoots everything I put in it. Great trainer, great for plinking. Lots of trigger time.
I got that TX22 when it first came out. Had QC issues with the barrel but Taurus made it right and sent me a properly rifled barrel. Love this pistol so much more than the Ruger SR22!
He just sold 100,000 of these pistols for Taurus! When H45 said, 'gun smoke', the 'Rifleman' episode with Sammy Davis Jr. as a gunfighter came to mind!
I was just able to purchase one of these..just became Massachusetts approved..paid 399 for the flag ceracoted..was so excited I took it out without cleaning it and put 250 rounds of various kinds of bullets and it shot flawless..really liking it so far..comparing it to my walther p22, lcp222lr, sw victory and wrangler. I love them all!
I hired a TX22 at my local gun range and did appreciate it much. Went for seeing a Hickok45 video about that Taurus and... I'll have to buy it. Hickok45 influenced me for each guns and rifles I bought and never been deceived.
Love my TX22! Came from the factory dialed in and very accurate. While that didn’t come across in the early part of the video, he seemed to get a better feel for the trigger in the latter part. I’m super pleased with mine and the value!
I love my TX22, had it for two months now and have put probably 1500 plus rounds through it already and have not a problem or a jam at all.....perfect range plinker.
Sounds like he had allergies that day. That can interfere with vision and depth perception. Been there, sneezed that, usually on weekends with silhouette or paper punching matches. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's amazing how well Taurus USA/International has successfully and completely revamped their company to what it is today. Affordable, reliable, and great warranties/customer service. People that still talk negatively about Taurus are just from the leftover bandwagon crowd.
I own two of these Tx22's and I love them! each has had about 1,000 rounds through them each. One pistol had one single malfunction and that was as a magazine feeding problem. This is such a fun little pistol. It's accurate as heck. The trigger is dang nice too. If you see one of these and you have half a brain in your head you better snatch it up fast! You will not regret it.
My TX22 comp is an awesome shooter. Thousands of rounds through it by now and it’s at the top of my list for fun. If I head to the range for any reason it comes with me because it’s that much fun to shoot.
Picked one up a few days ago on Black Friday, all tan one for $285 after tax. Haven’t shot it yet but I love how it looks and feels. Really impressed by mag capacity and upgrades out there as well.
Thank you @Hitchcock45 for this review of the Taurus TX22. I have two of them and they're the only pistols I own that I can shoot in tandem. I think it's a beautiful gun, I love the full size, and I especially love the 16 + 1 rounds. I'm proud of Taurus for bringing their game up. And what a wonderful honor that Guns & Ammo chose the TX22 as it's Gun of the Year. I may have to start subscribing.
I bought this gun when it came out, I love it. My son has the glock 22, he shoots much better with the tx22. He wants one now. The bonus is the 16+1 capacity
I just bought the FDE one for $280, tax included for my oldest birthday gift even though this is October. This is because the regular one is $320 without tax so jumped on the deal. Can’t wait to try it out.
Have shot about 800 rounds through my tx22 and have had 2 jams. They will run any ammo you feed them. I’m very very impressed and they’re very accurate when u get the feel of it. Great video!!
It's Taurus's last chance for me. It's been a long time, and I've heard so many good things I thought I'd see. It feels incredible in the hand, fit and finish are perfect, and it so far is reliable and accurate. Good job Taurus, I'm very happy with this impulse buy. Slight bit of rattle in the slide, but it doesn't affect accuracy. My only nitpick.
I have just recently purchased the TX 22. I am in love with this gun. From the first bullet to my recent 300 rounds I have not had a single flaw. Thank you for the review. Continue your track in this life, God bless.
Congrats to Taurus for a total winner. I've recommended this pistol to many 1st time buyers. My son has a Walther P22 that can't make it thru a 10 round mag without a stoppage. I make him plow thru to learn automatic clearing...but my god...that P22 sucks. TX22 is a winner.
I have owned 7 Taurus pistols in my life and had issues with only 1 (PT24-7 9mm) which was sent back for repairs. Other then that all the other 6 have run flawlessly and my PT-1911 & PT-92 are 2 of my favorite guns to shoot. I clean and lubricate all my guns right out of the box and after every range trip. I continue to be impressed with their new offerings and I am a life long fan. Not sure where the bad reputation came from but their modern pistols are worth serious consideration.
I had the pt247 in 40 cal. I got rid of it because it would double fire on me no matter how I gripped it. Ordered one of these yesterday the competition version should be hear in a couple weeks and hopefully it's a good shooter.
I have the compact model...still waiting for my suppressor but it is a fun and accurate pistol. Taurus hit a home run with this model. Feels great in the hand and has a really nice trigger.
I ALMOST won the "Taurus QC Lottery" Everything was great until I put the thread adapter on there. Either the barrel was threaded too deep, or the adapter cut too short. The slide would not go fully into battery, and would light strike about half the time. Easy fix though- I took an appropriate sized spring and cut a single loop to make a washer/bushing/spacer to go on the end of the barrel. Has run fine since. Taurus is much better, but still Taurus.
You are very special my Friend! I love my Taurus TX22… I’ve added 20 rd extensions from Tandemkross and I like the added weight as well as the extra rounds. 500 rounds without a glitch! Pretty good for a .22! Keep on keeping on Hickok45… I’m 80 and I’ll be right here with ya as long as the Good Lords will in’ and the creek don’t rise!🤗🤗👍😎
Hi I bought the tx22 about a month ago. First time out had trouble with the #2 mag cleaned it. Been a reliable 22 every sense. One day I'll have to show you my revolver collection. Thanks for the video.
My rear sight set screw came out on the range. Aside from that, its been a great gun. Reliable & fun to shoot without breaking the bank. Taurus has really came up!! Never thought Taurus would be better than a Glock
I love my Tx22. I purchased it at the local Dunham's while it was on sale for $280. I have put thousands of rounds through it. Almost flawlessly. Mostly caused by the ammo. My only complaints for this pistol is that the roll pins in the frame walk out of the frame. Not a big deal if you catch them. And the rear sight seems to walk every now and again. I shot mostly supressed. All in all, I love the Tx22.
Thank you again for another great review! If your TX22 recoil spring has 33 coils (early version) stop using it and get the upgraded 36-coil version from Taurus. The 33-coil spring allows the slide to come back too far, batter the frame and eventually breaks off the front of the slide where the spring seats. The newer 36- coil recoil spring assembly will prevent the slide from going back too far.
I was wondering what Taurus did to remedy the situation. I’ve asked in the comments and posted a comment about it myself. Thank you for sharing this information!! I sent my Tx22 back to Taurus before I even shot it because the laser engraving was horrible that I paid extra for. I’d imagine it has the new one but I heard lakeline makes an improved guide rod and spring made from SS.

@@craigtayntor489That was difficult to read. I got the 502 and you’re right about the sights. They suck. I added a Holosun 507k to fix this but then had more problems. The 507k adjustment screws are like the size of a glasses kit screwdriver. I think I maxed out the adjustment to get it 2” low at 7y. Disappointing firearm and dot combo.
I have the TX22 competition. Bought a G44 waiting to find the tx. The first shot I was worried, I had spent almost a grand on a 22 pistol with my RMR. I worried it would feel like shooting a pellet gun and not an actual pistol. After 1st shot, I smiled and I smile the whole time I shoot it. That has quickly become my favorite gun I own to shoot. Several 100s of rounds later it just gets better and better as I shoot it. Absolute tack driver. Funny to nail our 8" steel at 100yrds with it. 22lr has really gained my respect. Fact that's all we can afford to shoot helps a lot lol
Really like the pistol. Every now and then the slide seems to “stick” such that it doesn’t always want to go into battery; especially with inexpensive Winchester and Remington ammo. If you shoot the less expensive stuff, I would highly recommend Agulia.
My Walter p22 does that a lot. Along with failure to feed, failure to extract, failure to fire. Fail to be a gun at all…. Even with cci mini mags. It’s a real bitch to shot. Still like the size and feel but I wish it was more reliable. I bought a ruger 22/45 lite and it’s night and day better. Never an issue.
What do you mean battery?? If you mean the slide, it because YOU HAVE TO CLEAN it! And dontuse inexpensive cheap low quality Ammo! CCI is perfect! Without putting anyone on bankrupt! 22lr even thought this isnt hammer fire externaly ,its still inside function is not fully strikerfire like centerfire Like Glock 9mm andother centerfire caliber! And REMEMBER Oil dont clean your 22lr! Especially. Because The lead.9mm is not coated but Jacketed Which is solid shell top lf the lead so it dont leak like 22lr. But Dont cheap!! Same for glock no genuine magazines ITS like uying a powerfull and good reliable BMW for brand new 40 000dollars but using cheapest gasoline??.... DONT DO THAT! I recommend. Peace! If someone want to do something for europe that would be appreciated, because in stores we have so little stores and are empty,i hope the makers think USA but also Canada and europe. Shooting sport/ hobby is safe and very helpfull and good and important hobby! It build so much good things like Concertration and Focus. Love it! ESPECIALLY now many started using non toxic primers! Which is so good for the weapon and for the person. Anyway i wish this helped and if not just ask more! But CLEAN it With brushes etc because that doesnt go clean only wiping it! You need solvent or clp and brushes, cloths!
And this 22lr pistol has always been for me "suspicious function pistol" because its too cheap..? And magazine holds more than 10 rounds for 22lr?.. Reminds me sig and Sauer mosqito(Disaster, cheap gun discontinued thank god) 22lr or glock 44(First 22lr non centerfire pistol with polymer, combined steel light slide, cost like 800dollars) Sounds Great BUT ITS total Failure!!!! Glock is Perfect on 9mm and 10mm and ok for other caliber ,some issues with 380. Or 9mm singlestack 10round magazines. And total Failure With 22lr! Aka RimFire! GLOCK AND SIQ &SAUER please dont ruin YOUR reputation for doing RimFire 22lr! leave it to decades of experience building 22lr but taurus TX 22 is shady... Too good and cheap to be true. Hickock please try the glock 22lr but Dont buy it! Its jamming almost everything after awhile CCI minimag Barely! Feeds. And costs in here about 800dollars.

I bought the tx22 last year. It makes a good light carry gun and training gun for the kids to learn with. The only problem I've had is shooting ammo less than 40 grain , will not eject the empty,, think it's just a pressure related issue,, thanks for your channel,,
I have the compact version, tx22c. Really nice gun for any money. It's lightweight, inexpensive, durable and will run any ammo I've tried which is rare for 22 pistols in my experience. Love it!
I've had my TX22 and shot it way over a 1000 rounds with no issues. I just love it. The trigger is wonderful and it the grip is very nice too. Wonderful video and blessings
My dad has an old colt revolver in 45 acp. I just watched your video on the old S&W 45ACP and the S&W 686. I Thought that you had to use the full moon or half moon clips for the 45ACP revolver. I have a 586 357 mag and is my carry gun. Everyone says I need an auto for a carry, I have semi autos but I love the 586. I got it for Christmas when I was 12. My dad has been to know creek several times for the full auto shoots. He loved it. PEACE ✌
So many people crap on Taurus. I think they're just mad because they've got one of the lemons. Or they need to justify is buying something else that was overpriced.
Used to be me. Had m&p 22 which was a piece of shit (not made by s&w) kinda stayed away from Taurus...ended up getting a TX22 WOW...maybe handfull of ftf out of 2k rounds, cant say enough good about it.
I’m really pleased with my TX 22. I’ve only put about 1,000 rounds through it but haven’t had any problems yet and it’s eaten everything that I’ve fed it. What I really like about it is that it’s a great training companion to my G3. The hand grip and frame size are pretty much identical.
Have 2 of these pistols now. The first one has functioned very well. Just got the second one and it came with a free suppressor (just had to pay the unjust stamp fee). The mag extensions from Tandem Cross make them 21+1, super fun to shoot.
I have one and it shoots EVERYTHING! without issue, fits my xl hand great aswell as a few ladies Ive let shoot it. Its a hit with everyone who shoots it. Like it so much I may buy a second just incase the first breaks.
I’m 42 and just purchased my first gun a month ago. I got a Henry 22 lever action because I saw this guy shooting one now I want this pistol. I like plinking I live in a small town that’s so safe nobody locks there doors. So guns are only for butchering, livestock or fun. No one needs protection here.
Absolutely love the TX22. Great pistol that's very reliable and a lot of fun to shoot. Can't wait for the arrival of the same suppressor to use on that same pistol.
I’m so pleased with my tx22. I run .40 grain 22lr (the smaller .22Lrs do not like to run in it like the Winchester red box 100 count, however it’s bulk pack ammunition and it runs amazingly. My advice is run .40 grain and see the difference!
I purchased one of these pistol when they first came out. My pistol like others from the first batch had a sewer pipe barrel. Took over a year to get a new barrel from Taurus. Their customer service and quality control are horrible. They never announced to the public to check the barrel of your new pistol, nor did they recall them from distributors or retail stores. if you buy a Taurus, you pay the money and take a chance, hoping you will never have a problem and need to send it back to Taurus. Be prepared for a long wait.
The tx22 is my carry gun. I can unload the 17rd i first magazine in a tad under 3 seconds, center mass, on target with a 2-3 in group most days. My first one was a first gen, maybe a month after it came out, had the barrel issue. They ended up sending me a new barrel no questions asked and said if it doesn't work after that, send it in. I ended up sending 6,000rd there about through it and stupidly traded it for an mp22c. That gun failed after -600rd while running it suppressed. Fixed and sold it, got another tx22. No issues so far. I carry 4 total mags and use stingers or velocitors as carry ammo. Still breaking it in, but as long as it has good ammo, i trust it. I have shot 100rd of the fed. Punch and it all functioned. After more testing, i will keep a few boxes of that just for the heck. Will keep using stingers. The only thing with the punch, DO NOT shoot suppressed. It will feed jam on you. Too hot. More videos to come on my channel. Have one up so far with a borrowed 9mm can on it.
I don't know when this was implemented, but my TX22 came with a thread adaptor for the existing barrel. Just unscrew the end of the factory barrel and replace it with the adaptor, thus converting it to a threaded barrel.

Bought this gun in May put maybe 2k rounds through it and I Love it. My young daughter shoots it well. It's a great trainer and it keeps running. 👍
Thanks for sharing, Wich ammo is best ?
This is by far the most I’ve ever seen Hickok miss in years of watching and he still shot better than most people you see on UA-cam 😂
Crappy rear sight on the TX22 and everyone who owns one knows it.
Another awesome video! I must say this is one of the few times that I bought the gun before watching Hickok45 review it.
Do you know if Taurus remedied the slide cracking problem?
hickok smokes so much pot its crazy
Darn hippie!
pot smoking fool for his age
FR 😂🤣
lulz
its the only thing that keeps him alive!
My TX22 comp is an awesome shooter. Thousands of rounds through it by now and it’s at the top of my list for fun. If I head to the range for any reason it comes with me because it’s that much fun to shoot.
This was my first gun, purchased It in December 2019 for a new shooter class still going good in 2021, zero issues 👍👍
.22s & silencers are like the crack of the gun world:if you have one,you want more & more & more....
So what is your feedback ? :)
I was so glad to pick one of these up in green. So fun to shoot suppressed. Excellent introduction pistol for new shooters too
Got it, 1k+ rds, no problems. In today’s world, it’s gets the most range time. I love it. Thx
This guy is an artist! He's like the Bob Ross of firearms. 😊
Picked mine up today. Can't wait to try it. So many people on these videos saying how good it is.
Did the comments live up to the hype ?
God Bless You Hickock. You’re a good man.
Gotta say this is the best 22 pistol out there. Puts the Glock to shame and runs better than the M&P as well. The most fun firearm I have in my safe.
Funnest gun I own
I have the compact model...still waiting for my suppressor but it is a fun and accurate pistol. Taurus hit a home run with this model. Feels great in the hand and has a really nice trigger.
I ALMOST won the "Taurus QC Lottery"
Everything was great until I put the thread adapter on there.
I bought a TX 22 the first of the year and liked it so much I bought one for my wife also. She is not able to rack a 9mm but does great with the TX22.
16 pencil-diameter holes in someone's chest will absolutely end the threat. 👍
I own a Taurus tx22 it was a present from my dad and I love it
You are very special my Friend!
Got mine for $285 w tax 3-19-23.
Tip: Clean and lightly oil firearm before first use, including magazine. 500 rounds so far, flawless I love it.
you can see how much happy this man is just by the way he shoots his guns
Hi I bought the tx22 about a month ago. First time out had trouble with the #2 mag cleaned it. Been a reliable 22 every sense. One day I'll have to show you my revolver collection. Thanks for the video.
My rear sight set screw came out on the range. Aside from that, its been a great gun. Reliable & fun to shoot without breaking the bank. Taurus has really came up!! Never thought Taurus would be better than a Glock
I love my TX22. Put all kinds of bulk ammo through the gun, runs like a sewing machine. Taurus got this one right.
Did you have to break it in with high velocity rounds?
My first gun I ever owned 10/10 such a nice tool saved my ass once.
Story?
How did it save your ass once?
2:11 hickok coughing from all that pot
4:04 hickock drymouth from smoking the pots
I love my Tx22. I purchased it at the local Dunham's while it was on sale for $280. I have put thousands of rounds through it. Almost flawlessly. Mostly caused by the ammo. My only complaints for this pistol is that the roll pins in the frame walk out of the frame. Not a big deal if you catch them. And the rear sight seems to walk every now and again. I shot mostly supressed. All in all, I love the Tx22.
Yup, my pins do the same thing. Otherwise, its a solid handgun.
How u get it suppressed
$354 now. Going to check one out wednesday at Dunham's.
Is there a remedy to stop roll pins and rear sight from walking or moving?
Sig 250 conversion kit. 9$ is rod, the spring 22$ BUTTER 2 FN502 so good. A heavy duty machine what's a legit tack driver. Only 1 issue, that's correct 1. Iron sight are horrible, more horrible than glocks 44 trigger and frame. Plastic toy with live bullets. Frightening. 1 fn502 with suppressor fde both. 2 tx22 3 berreta m9 22lr 4 sig ( endless issues) 5 glock plastic trash can .380 today Beretta 80x Cheetah SICK.92X Performance 💯 KEEP CZ ,KIMBER STACCATO ECT. HAD THEM ALL 92x performance ALL DAY 💯 no need for wilson or Langdon it's overkill or a conversation piece. The berreta 92x performance G. Mike drop with the Cheetah 80x double fisted. Bad day for monsters
Clean and oil it
My Walter p22 does that a lot.
Any leading problems with the barrel?
Just signed up to SDI because of you! Made sure they knew how I found out about them!! Former US Marine. Ready to take my firearms career to the next level!
Did you sign up and donate to any of the gun rights groups because of him? Of course not, because this geriatric fk never mentions it, he only mentions sponsors that pay him.
The audio is good quality. I can hear Hickok trigger resetting on every shot. Thanks for sharing.
Almost 7k rounds thru mine with the tandemkross extended mag extensions. Runs suppressed at all times .
Did Taurus remedy the slide cracking issue?
@@hardcore4476 No. Mine runs anything.
@@MortenDamm Did your slide crack?
@@hardcore4476 no sir! It’s just RUNS
@@MortenDamm Nice.. Glad to hear it!
New Taurus pretty amazing…. Tx 22 very few malfunctions for a 22 and mags are 16 rounds. Also love g2c and new gx4…. A few of my collection
Love your videos. About to get my first handgun, just turned 21 in July
My Hi-Point .380 I got for $75 10 years ago will outperform the fanciest $4K+ race gun out there...if I can just get the thing to fire
Used to be me. Had m&p 22 which was a piece of shit (not made by s&w) kinda stayed away from Taurus...ended up getting a TX22 WOW...maybe handfull of ftf out of 2k rounds, cant say enough good about it.
Mine's ran well suppressed as well
This video just came out how does it say 6 days ago
Congratulations on being first
@@turtleneck4206wtf I just released that
Or yeah? Prove it. LoL

Thank You hekcock 45 for your videos. 😊
I’m really pleased with my TX 22. I’ve only put about 1,000 rounds through it but haven’t had any problems yet and it’s eaten everything that I’ve fed it. What I really like about it is that it’s a great training companion to my G3. The hand grip and frame size are pretty much identical.
Thanks which ammo Brand is best fit ?
Picked one up a couple months back. Got 500+ rounds through it all suppressed before my first malfunction. Even fits one of my Glock 19 holsters.
Have 2 of these pistols now. The first one has functioned very well. Just got the second one and it came with a free suppressor (just had to pay the unjust stamp fee). The mag extensions from Tandem Cross make them 21+1, super fun to shoot.
Finally Taurus is getting the good recognition it deserves.
taurus is absolute junk, you must be smoking some REALLY good crack!
I picked one of these up for 249 last week at my local shop. So far I love it.
I have one and it shoots EVERYTHING! without issue, fits my xl hand great aswell as a few ladies Ive let shoot it.
Its a hit with everyone who shoots it.
Like it so much I may buy a second just incase the first breaks.
I liked mine so much I bought a 2nd one. The TX22 is a great rimfire can host.
Love mine!
If you get a new one, fully load the mags and let them sit a couple days before you shoot it.
It'll run perfect from the start.
I never did that mine shot perfect out the box
Wow that's wild the soda exploding is louder than the shot itself. Great vid as always!
I bought this pistol to get my wife into shooting... it worked great! She loves it! I need to get a suppressor for it!
I bought 2 during the pandemic for $280 each. Ended up getting a Competition version from Rural King for S450
Love your videos, thanks for protecting us from those evil 2 litters!
Love the content and really appreciate your dedication to your community. Thank you!
Also when suppressed, it always shoots about an in low and right. That is why he was missing. He didn't know where to comp for it.
I don't know when this was implemented, but my TX22 came with a thread adaptor for the existing barrel. Just unscrew the end of the factory barrel and replace it with the adaptor, thus converting it to a threaded barrel.
