I originally got the TX-22 as a range gun to train newbies with and have fun with but after seeing how accurate and reliable it is I started using it as my daily carry, I could carry a 9mm or a .45ACP but honestly accuracy and speed is more important to me and it's less heavy making it easier to carry, it's less disorienting and loud if I ever did need to use it in self defense, it's easier to rack the slide if needed and holds 16 rounds, Ammo is cheap and I can shoot it more and overall it's my favorite gun I own.

I love my Taurus TX22. I have right at a thousand rounds through it and only 2 issues and both were ammo related. The first five hundred rounds was cheap range ammo I inherited from my Dad and it was about 30+ years old and stored in his toolshed for most of that time. Ran like nobody's business except for the two failures to fire. Thanks for the video.

Love my TX22....as far as a "carry" gun, not what I bought it for...It's a plinker out on the property and cheap to buy at that! I have ran all kinds of .22 ammo thru it with no issues...great review. Gun channels crack me up when they all want to show us the gun is "cleared", like it gives us piece of mind... makes me feel so much more safe at my kitchen table that it is not going to discharge and go thru the internet to shoot me 🤣

I have a Taurus TX 22 and have found its performance very good with a wide variety of 221r ammunition. I might mention that Taurus has just released its newest 22lr semi-auto: Taurus TX 22 Compact. So the concealed carry size issue may be mostly resolved compampared to its bigger brother! I will find out soon since I recently ordered one from Bass Pro. While the compact version is very similar in design, there ae a number of design changes. The Compact version supports 10 and 13 round magazines (comes with 2 magazines) and apparently will also support the 16 magazine from the larger TX. It seems the size will be very similar to the S&W M&P 22lr Compact.

  • @joeflowers9084
    @joeflowers9084 2 роки тому +5

I'm glad they made a Compact that's Optic Ready (and the ejection port has been expanded). I do think for the large size of the grip, they could redesign mags to hold more rounds; however, 13+1 isn't bad. I would have preferred the P322 be a bit smaller overall (closer to a 365XL) and hold 15 instead of 21...but I do love they have 25rd mags as well.

I loathe Taurus, but the TX22 punches above it's weight. At six K rounds through mine I have to concede it's a good gun. Fun to shoot, as reliable as any twenty two except perhaps the MUCH more expensive Mark series Ruger's.
I have the G44 Glock and the P322 Sig.
I think they are both more robust than the TX and have other advantages. However, when it comes to making even the cheapest ammo go bang when the pin hits it, the only 22 I own that beats it is a Mark Ruger.
Feeds better, goes off when asked... is easy to shoot.
Not as accurate as the Sig... that fixed barrel and great trigger on the Sig wins there. But the gun costs a hundred and fifty more at the LGS in my area.
On the other hand I had to buy a new barrel for mine after only 600 rounds. Warranty is sort of good, but shipping the gun back to them cost more than they wanted for a barrel.
Besides that, the gun has been outstanding.
The Ruger is better in every way, but at twice the price...
Buy it if you are willing to possibly wear it out at less than 10k rounds.
How many people really shoot that much? And for the price you can buy a second one.

I don't think this was made for a carry weapon, more of a really nice backyard trainer that you could run 1,000 rounds a weekend for $70. Really get pistol handling down, and learning the sight picture, and still getting a few mags of your 9mm carry gun to put what you learn on the .22 into practice. Without spending 4x the money on 9mm. I believe even the most budget minded people should be able to practice and defend themselves. The real reason this gun exists...it's just so cute and fun. Lmao

If you are using the gun in a defensive role spend the extra couple of dollars...I can find regular CCI target 40gr .22 for 10 cents a round, velocitors or stingers for 20 cents a round...of course any brand bulk ammo will be less expensive, and that ammo fine for range work...but don't jeopardize real life to save a quarter (.25 cents) on ammo...

As for bulk .22 we like the cheapest brands available, noting that certain guns seem to prefer certain ammo brands...our .22 autos (both Rugers) run Remington Thunderbolts beautifully, so we keep a good supply on hand...other folks will mention Blazers, Aguila, and Federal...if any of these brands really, really makes your tx22 sing start buying...

Taught ladies for five years, used bulk federal copper plated. I explained to them of stopages that could occur and what to do to clear and get the gun back into action quickly. Within a few practice sessions they cleared and reloaded quickly. Value of cheap ammo. CCI minimags proven performers, nose shape is important for anything you feed it. One thing I have learned the most is clean inside of mags at least 1/2 way down inside with a good bristle 32 or 38 brush. That follower needs a clear path. Carry ammo that you have proven WORKS 100% IN YOUR GUN. BE WISE.

I just got the tx22 compact. Most of the tx22 reviews are very positive and I figured they have it refined. I've put some 300 rounds through my compact mostly minimag and aguila super extra but some stinger and velociter. I've had 4 feed fails, 1 stinger 2 aguila and one if the others. They all jam feeding the bullet into the top of the barrel. Its irritating and certainly not worth tge $330 I paid. I bought into the hype. I'd give it a don't buy. He just mentioned tge Remington golden bullet. Just yesterday, 012723, one of those Remington blew up in my Ruger mark 2 target. Blew powder in my face, blew the entire end- the primer cap off, never found that. A box of 525 Remington golden bullets are trash! I was hoping, but I was taken on the tx22 compact. It's accurate, when it works it's fun, but I'm always waiting for it to jam. Good review, but I feel like they sold the junk of old days in the compact.

Your "Gun Snobs" have every right to stay away from The Taurus Platform because of their History of Problems in the past and this also applies to the Kel-Tec Platform with similar problems in their past. Having said this, I gave Taurus a Second Chance a while back with several models to the .380 and I soon gave up again with problems with these guns and I also gave Kel-Tec a second chance when the Ammo Shortage/Price Increase started to happen and I purchased my Very First .22 hand gun. I have to say that this Kel-Tec P17 has been, to my shock, a Great Firearm and after shooting over 1000 rounds with No Failures of any kind, I decided to buy another one and I now have Two Great .22 Guns. I'm sure Taurus has made a fine .22 and I wish them well but I will stick with my two Kel-Tec 22LR Guns which have proved to be Great Guns for my needs!

I am crossing my fingers. I just ordered a TX22 that I will pick up this week. I am a little hesitant though. On the taurus firearms forum, plenty of folks with issues and recent buyers too. I pray I have a good one. Glad its worked out for you.

It was a good one so far, 300 flawless rounds through my TX-22.

I have one also. And it jams miss feeds, fails to fire , fails to eject. I don't recommend this gun. The gun to get is the Sig Sauer P322.

Let me get this straight, a .22 LR as a carry weapon? Are you people NUTS? I think you better do some ballistic research BEFORE you decide to conceal carry this caliber.

Military testing shows that 22lr is definitely a lethal round. It always comes down to shot placement with handguns. I would trust a TX22 to be reliable for carry. But I don't carry 22. But if I didn't have enough money, this could be a good option because ammo is expensive.

Some of these are lemons just buy a sig322 for the money or a p17 they eat everything and way easier to clean

It's a fun gun. Not a carry gun PERIOD. It does well with a can attached.

    Not a good gun...constantly jams...always has since new..cleaned mags, different loads, doesn't matter...just a bad design..
