That surprised me, too! The lag on the kindles is real and I was expecting that to be the same on the kobo. I was shocked when it reacted so quickly!!!
I’ve been using mine since a little before July 1st and love it but Im trying to get away from the Amazon ecosystem so I think it works well for me. Kobo Plus is not as good as KU unfortunately. Hopefully they start offering more competitive options even if it means you have to pay a little more since it’s already cheaper than KU. I did find a few things I did want to read on there though.
@@SummerSayre haven’t had any issues on my eyes and I have notoriously bad eyes lol yeah I’m not sure about the indie author thing either. The one I wanted to read wasn’t available on there but I don’t read a lot of indie author books honestly
I just ordered mine today- I’ve had the hardest time w-my kindle paper white which was my 1st reader. I’ve been researching this device all day & heard this is very user friendly & very “basic” for the ease of use.
I can’t decide if go for kindle paperwhite signature or kobo. I am worried that authors I like would be unavailable on kobo or that selection of book will be limited on kobo 🤦♂️
I’m going to order one of these simply because I’m curious and the besties on my channel are interested in my opinion as an almost 100% e-reader user. This review was helpful tho! I’ll mainly use mine for Libby books I think so I’m not having to buy more books on a different platform
It’s cool but prefer the kindle system I couldn’t find enough stuff i want to read on kobo plus and i love audiobooks/audible way cheaper than kobo’s. Im happy with my kindle fire plus its in colour and i added the goggle play store so can get any app on it plus cheaper than kindle they are so expensive now compared to back in the day. Im waiting 4 the kindle colour my eyes dont hurt but i do wear blue light glasses plus i read audiobooks so not hurting my eyes all the time and get other things done like i love reading a audiobook while walking my dog or doing housework or while travelling. Loved this video
I do miss the white option for the Kindle. Could you imagine what that would have looked like as metallic?? (the new signatures are metallic where the regular paperwhite is a matte like color). Is the back of the kobo textured?
I wanted to love mine. I returned the kobo. Because of th color and they way it’s built, the letters are less clear than kindle paper white and it was super glitchy and the “note taking” was awful. Plus I don’t need color I only read books. I might get the new green scribe though

BUT until that's up, I'm wondering if you'd like a Kobo Clara Colour! It basically has the shape of a kindle (no page turn buttons so it's more compact), it is color, android, and has audiobook support. If you want the pen that is the Kobo Libra Colour though! For less ghosting, you can turn up the page refresh count which means it will refresh more often and therefore have less ghosting. @jela9706 yes, the Clara colour is a bit smaller and it doesn’t have a pen (I checked) and does not have page turn buttons. It’s very cute and sounds like it would do what you needed! It has tons of 5 star ratings and I’ve heard people truly love it
How is the battery life compared to a standard black and white e-reader. I love the colour e-readers especially for comics. Overdrive integration is great but in Australia our libraries use another system. I have Prime subscription so more likely go for a colour Kindle if the battery life is good. Nice review.
Battery life seems a bit shorter than the kindles in my experience! Not bad, but not the everlasting type the kindles have! For comics I think it would be a great experience!
Great video, I got a kobo a month ago and love it, if you do figure out how to get that ‘sleeping’ off the screen I;d love to know, its so annoying but if you cant I can cope with it 😊

@@SummerSayre i am looking to replace my e-reader. I had purchased a Boox C 2 color tablet and I have to say that I was unimpressed with the color part of the device. The color was so washed out and the response was so slow that it made all the extra features available from the Android universe virtually unusable. Games and video were unplayable/unwatchable. Apparently somehow the screen had too much pressure on it (while carrying it in my bag along with my iPad which was fine) that it broke a seal somewhere and will not boot. Since "user damage" was not covered by warranty, I am not going to spend more than half the price of the device to have it repaired ... when I wasn't that big of a fan in the first place. So your video is very helpful as I decide between Kobo and Amazon Paperwhite.
