I'm getting the Kindle Colorsoft, because I also sometimes read comics/manga, and the color would be nice for that. It won't arrive for another week, but I was tempted to get the matcha because the device color is so cute! I was sad the Colorsoft doesn't come in fun colors!!!! At least not yet, maybe future versions of it, if they continue the Colorsoft line.

I already have a Kobo Clara 2E, so I really don't need another ereader, and I live vicariously through these types of videos. The color on this new Kindle is beautiful. I keep telling myself it's not worth buying just for the color though.

Whoa, I didn’t expect such a fast response, thank you :) To answer your question, I like my Clara 2E, but I bought it about 1-2 months before Kobo released a better version (the Clara BW), and color e-readers, so I feel like I missed out. Kobo is a better brand for sideloading imo (which is how I get my books), but I do wish the Clara was a bit faster. It can be quite laggy when I switch fonts and do other stuff in the menus. It is great for its main purpose though, which is reading.

I am happy that I have my Kobo Libra for that just so that my books are preserved and I can put whatever I want on it :)
I have a paperwhite 11th gen and I ALMOST replaced it with a matcha basic because I love that color so much. I have 200 books on my paperwhite and it's almost at 1GB used!
OMG! I didn't realize the storage could fill up that fast! You could definitely get a skin for it to change the color but as you see here, I was seduced by the matcha 😅
I use a little washi tape to hold my stickers in place :). I can tell a difference in the text on the new version, it looks more crisp & clear. I love the sparkly case!
Yes, I definitely need to use some washi tape or tape on the back and really make this one pinterest-level cute! I love the sparkly case, too! :) And how crisp it is!!! Now I just have to box up the old one - I feel kind of bad sending it back since I didn't have it for very long, but, it is what it is!
I have one and it’s absolutely lovely and perfect. I had the voyage (which I paid a lot of money for as it was able to connect everywhere and that feature only lasted for about 4 years as 3G was discontinued). The voyage was tiny, but the matcha is even tinier, which is perfect if you travel a lot or if you like reading outside (which is my case). It fits in cargo pants pockets, in small purses and jacket and coat pockets. After paying so much for a kindle and have it discontinued so fast, I decided to go for the basic and I don’t regret my purchase at all. I really love it and you can definitely side load on mac. Dark mode is enough for me, so the lack of extra warm light was not a deal breaker for me -also didn’t had it on the voyage, so… Notice that if you are outside the US audible is pretty useless as the kindle doesn’t have the bluetooth icon enabled :( -I am in Mexico so I would have to change amazon store to the US. Btw if you don’t mind my asking, which brand of nail polish are you wearing? your nail polish is gorgeous! ❤

You can put a little piece of folded washi tape behind each sticker and place it on your kindle. The washi tape is low stick so it will never leave a residue in your kindle and will peel off the sticker when you want to use something different. Then you can keep reusing them and change things up but won’t have the shifting
I still have a paperwhite 7th generation and works fine to me, the page turns normal, now if something ever happens to mine, I’ll def have a reason to buy the latest and color .

does not having warmlight or waterproof bother you? this is going to be my first kindle and i am really confused whether i should buy the paperwhite or the basic one. i want the basic mainly for the portability and the colour but i am scared that i might be missing out on the warmlight considering how everyone is hyping it but the new colour does not really screams me + i dont want to buy the colour black 😢
So this one is different than the previous basic if you ask me - it just looks more like a real paper page. The camera didn't do the *best* job of picking it up, but it is more warm than blue like the older model is, and that didn't even bother me with the 2022 model to be honest. I don't take mine too many places where it could get submerged (I have accidentally spilled a water bottle in my purse while my kindle was in it and it was fine, but I don't think it would do well with being fully submerged) so that doesn't bother me either. I think if you want something compact, easy to hold, that's not too expensive and in this color - go for this one. If you want the warm light/full waterproofing, and you're okay spending a bit more, go for the paperwhite! I just find the paperwhite is a bit heavier for me without a pop socket, and I reach for the basic more. Let me know if you have any other questions! :)
As far as the warm light is concerned, it may or may not be a big deal for you to not have it as a feature. Personally speaking, I don't relate to all the love the warm light seems to get online. I've tried it but I just couldn't get into it. My eyes find the color very strange and off-putting. It's NOTHING like the amber booklight I bought from Amazon when I use to read physical books at bedtime. That booklight felt like I was sitting by a cozy fireplace but the Kindle's warm screen didn't feel anything like that - which I don't understand at all. Instead, dark mode is what I prefer when reading at night. If you like reading in dark mode then a warm light setting probably won't matter to you. Hope this helps!

I really wish Amazon would release the same color for the Paperwhite. It is beautiful. But I ended up getting the Paperwhite because I can’t stand the recessed screen and I do like a bigger screen.
I keep the USB-A to USB-C with my USB-A charger blocks when I travel. That way if its' lost, its not a major loss but still functional for travel and as needed use. Can't wait to get mine in today! I sent back my colorsoft for this one. Ultimately, I think its a blessing in disguise because I always want it to fit in my purse so this was meant to be lol
I'll be getting a Basic black. The matcha color is so soothing, but if I decorate with reds or blues I feel like the colors will clash. I've been debating between basic and PW. I'm quite nearsighted and like to read without glasses, so I have my phone 6-7 inches from my face (S23 ultra). The Basic seems to be the better size for that close to my eyes. 😅 It'll be my first eReader and hope I don't miss the continous scroll and sepia that the app has.
I use dark mode quite a bit and it's nice that you can change the font size. I love the basic and I don't find that I need the larger screen. I haven't been reaching for my paperwhite very often, sadly! I hope you love yours!

You need to go into your Amazon account, click on devices, and “remove special offers” from it, and then the ads will stop. Thennn you go to your kindle and click display options in settings and toggle on “show book cover on Lock Screen” ☺️

I just ordered this for my wife she's decided to switch back to her Kindle from physical books and she is currently using the 7th generation Kindle basic from 2015 I figured she's way overdue for an upgrade

Ok so i love this color. 🍵💚 Green is my fav color. I may have to get one and the fact its so lightweight and easy to take with you when traveling. Do you prefer basic over paperwhite? Especially if youre reading books through libby too and not all purchased books to save space. Lately I've been preferring the basic, I'm not going to lie!!! It's just so light. My paperwhite feels like a paperweight after holding the basic and being able to take it places. I can't wait to see what the colorsoft convinces me of, but right now I'm a basic-lover. The matcha is sooooooo cute. I'm kind of obsessed. But... there might be a cyber Monday deal or something coming too!

I dont know if I should buy it, I dont use it everyday, but my kindle is from 2019, I can tell sometimes its very slow… I am still thinking, but the color looks great and it looks like it responds faster
I use to have the Kindle Basic (2022) for a time and can tell immediately in this video the screen contrasting is much nicer with this release. I think it looks really nice. I own the Kobo Clara BW that has the Carta 1300 screen, which is sharper/more contrast than the Kindle Basic I previously had. So it looks like this 2024 release has finally become on par with my Kobo ;) Generally speaking I do like the matcha color but there is something that rubs me the wrong way about it -- it's pretty subtle... though it's enough to bug me anyway. I think I'm a little butthurt they didn't just make it white instead lolol
It’s definitely much more crisp and looks like an actual page! It’s super nice. I think my brain was expecting the agave green on the front because that’s what my paperwhite is and I LOVE that. This is a little brighter. The camera picked it up kind of oddly but I did what I could to make it look right while editing. I am sooo with you on the white - why not just release one of those???? It would be so popular!!!

Hello! Thank you for such a great video. I wanted to ask if it's worth buying kindle if you don't have (and don't plan to have) kindle unlimited? Is it possible to download books on your own?
Oh yes for sure! Right now a ton of the books I want to read are part of the kindle unlimited catalogue but a ton of books I just buy on their own and read them!
You absolutely can side-load with the new Kindles. It's effortless to do. A bad article started this whole rumor that you can't. But it's not true and has been debunked a dozen times already. Except! Unless you have an Apple computer. Apple computers don't support the latest protocols to connect with the Kindles or newer devices that use the new protocols. Apple is known for being a bit behind the times, though. LOL! However, any Windows PC has no issue with the new Kindles.
@@SummerSayre Yeah, now that I look, I see that it was Good-E-Reader that initially spread that rumor through a bad article. But now they have released a new video debunking their own article. Funny how they haven't taken down the old article, though? But I know they are split between a U.S.-based office and a Japanese office, so maybe it will be removed by Monday. However, plenty of others have no problem side-loading books on the 12th Gen. I know I did it with my 11th Gen Paperwhite, which was updated with the same software revision as the 12th. (Since I haven't had a chance yet this week to open my 12th Gen.)
it's actually a non problem on mac too. The problem with it is that amazon changed the way the storage of the device is read by computers and mac doesn't have the same standard installed you can say, but you just need a minute to download something that makes you open it or calibre that has it integrated. It's more like an apple problem than a kindle problem (the same format is being used for android phones for example, and gives the same problem on mac)
i just got the matcha kindle basic and i looovee ittt but the ghosting is kind of bad on mine even after turning the refresh up, especially on dark mode :( is it normal to have ghosting on every kindle?? it’s my first time owning one!
Oh no! No, I haven’t had an issue with ghosting… I had it with the raspberry paperwhite when I first got it and unboxed as you see in that video, but it went right away. I would say if it keeps up after you use it for a while, I’d contact customer service!
I read a lot of Freida MacFadden earlier this year or late last year and I really enjoyed all of them. Although I loved it, I don’t have a desire to read no 2 and 3 of the Housemaids series. But I did borrow some others on KU a few mins ago including a Christmas short story that I didn’t know she wrote. I might read that tonight. I have all my books in Collections also. Without them being in collections, it would drive me nuts. lol

I've been deciding between this and the colorsoft since I occasionally read graphic novels but something I kept noticing that quick flashy transition with each pop up or when you're scrolling. I assume it may just be how the camera is picking that up but do you find that to be easily noticeable? I've never owned a kindle so I'm trying to do all my research lol
It was more flashy on the 2022 when the page refreshed for sure, the 2024 is better. I think on the paperwhite you can set how often you want the pages to refresh and do that. The camera definitely makes it more noticeable unfortunately! I'm getting the colorsoft in just a few days so I'll show what that looks like and see what we notice on the page refreshing/color screen! :) It's supposedly much better for manga/comics.
Did you buy it with ads removed? If not you might need to log into your Amazon account and click “devices” when you’re in your account. Then select that kindle and say “remove offers and ads” or something like that and then the option will show up on your kindle to display the cover!
I don’t use them all at once - I mostly hold onto them for videos when people want comparisons etc. I read different books on different devices and use my kobo mostly for arc’s! It helps me remember deadlines for getting those done. My basic I take with me everywhere and the oasis and paperwhite stay home since they’re the most expensive. I definitely use them all at some point within a week… but again, I am an e reader enthusiast! :)

I want the Matcha colour. only £94 with ads in uk. i dont read on my paperwhihte that much now. got the black 2022 kindle basic. is it silly to have to basic kindles? because if i go out with mum i can read on my black and when im not with her then i can take my matcha one out. i do read two books at a time. What do you think? i love the smaller size and the lightweight of it.
I honestly love my basic now, it’s the one I reach for over the paperwhite since I need the pop socket for the paperwhite. I do a lot of reading on the go or in bed and for on the go I need something small and lightweight and before I go to sleep I don’t want to sit up and hold it nicely and the paperwhite is oddly heavy after getting used to the basic! I say do it!

@@cheche975 did you see how I had to change the settings on mine? Mine was showing generic stuff for a while and I had to go in and turn on the "show book cover" in the settings! It was weird! Did you purchase yours without ads?

Cannot justify buying the new kindle paperwhite and I am not interested in the coloursoft. If I want to read graphic novels, I'll read them on my phone or iPad as they have much better screens. I usually only read text so the e ink is perfect in black and white.
just be warned with the flip cases that wake the kinlde up might muck the screen up. i had a flip to wake on my paperwhite and the kidnle had a mind of its own and took forever to do things that i wanted it to. just be warned so i just use a clear case now

I gotta say, the color really does enhance the reading experience. Having it in the peripheral view is so pleasant against the light or dark text.

You can put a little piece of folded washi tape behind each sticker and place it on your kindle. The washi tape is low stick so it will never leave a residue in your kindle and will peel off the sticker when you want to use something different. Then you can keep reusing them and change things up but won’t have the shifting

does not having warmlight or waterproof bother you? this is going to be my first kindle and i am really confused whether i should buy the paperwhite or the basic one. i want the basic mainly for the portability and the colour but i am scared that i might be missing out on the warmlight considering how everyone is hyping it but the new colour does not really screams me + i dont want to buy the colour black 😢
So this one is different than the previous basic if you ask me - it just looks more like a real paper page. The camera didn't do the *best* job of picking it up, but it is more warm than blue like the older model is, and that didn't even bother me with the 2022 model to be honest. I don't take mine too many places where it could get submerged (I have accidentally spilled a water bottle in my purse while my kindle was in it and it was fine, but I don't think it would do well with being fully submerged) so that doesn't bother me either. I think if you want something compact, easy to hold, that's not too expensive and in this color - go for this one. If you want the warm light/full waterproofing, and you're okay spending a bit more, go for the paperwhite! I just find the paperwhite is a bit heavier for me without a pop socket, and I reach for the basic more. Let me know if you have any other questions! :)
As far as the warm light is concerned, it may or may not be a big deal for you to not have it as a feature. Personally speaking, I don't relate to all the love the warm light seems to get online. I've tried it but I just couldn't get into it. My eyes find the color very strange and off-putting. It's NOTHING like the amber booklight I bought from Amazon when I use to read physical books at bedtime. That booklight felt like I was sitting by a cozy fireplace but the Kindle's warm screen didn't feel anything like that - which I don't understand at all. Instead, dark mode is what I prefer when reading at night. If you like reading in dark mode then a warm light setting probably won't matter to you. Hope this helps!

I keep the USB-A to USB-C with my USB-A charger blocks when I travel. That way if its' lost, its not a major loss but still functional for travel and as needed use. Can't wait to get mine in today! I sent back my colorsoft for this one. Ultimately, I think its a blessing in disguise because I always want it to fit in my purse so this was meant to be lol

I'll be getting a Basic black. The matcha color is so soothing, but if I decorate with reds or blues I feel like the colors will clash.
I've been debating between basic and PW. I'm quite nearsighted and like to read without glasses, so I have my phone 6-7 inches from my face (S23 ultra). The Basic seems to be the better size for that close to my eyes. 😅 It'll be my first eReader and hope I don't miss the continous scroll and sepia that the app has.
I use dark mode quite a bit and it's nice that you can change the font size. I love the basic and I don't find that I need the larger screen. I haven't been reaching for my paperwhite very often, sadly! I hope you love yours!

You need to go into your Amazon account, click on devices, and “remove special offers” from it, and then the ads will stop. Thennn you go to your kindle and click display options in settings and toggle on “show book cover on Lock Screen” ☺️

Lately I've been preferring the basic, I'm not going to lie!!! It's just so light. My paperwhite feels like a paperweight after holding the basic and being able to take it places. I dont know if I should buy it, I dont use it everyday, but my kindle is from 2019, I can tell sometimes its very slow… I am still thinking, but the color looks great and it looks like it responds faster
You can trade it in for 20% off a new one plus some credit… that helped me decide!
I use to have the Kindle Basic (2022) for a time and can tell immediately in this video the screen contrasting is much nicer with this release. I think it looks really nice. I own the Kobo Clara BW that has the Carta 1300 screen, which is sharper/more contrast than the Kindle Basic I previously had. So it looks like this 2024 release has finally become on par with my Kobo ;) Generally speaking I do like the matcha color but there is something that rubs me the wrong way about it -- it's pretty subtle... though it's enough to bug me anyway. I think I'm a little butthurt they didn't just make it white instead lolol
It’s definitely much more crisp and looks like an actual page! It’s super nice. I think my brain was expecting the agave green on the front because that’s what my paperwhite is and I LOVE that. This is a little brighter. The camera picked it up kind of oddly but I did what I could to make it look right while editing. I am sooo with you on the white - why not just release one of those???? It would be so popular!!!

Hello! Thank you for such a great video. I wanted to ask if it's worth buying kindle if you don't have (and don't plan to have) kindle unlimited? Is it possible to download books on your own?
Oh yes for sure! Right now a ton of the books I want to read are part of the kindle unlimited catalogue but a ton of books I just buy on their own and read them!
You absolutely can side-load with the new Kindles. It's effortless to do. A bad article started this whole rumor that you can't. But it's not true and has been debunked a dozen times already.
Except! Unless you have an Apple computer. Apple computers don't support the latest protocols to connect with the Kindles or newer devices that use the new protocols. Apple is known for being a bit behind the times, though. LOL!
However, any Windows PC has no issue with the new Kindles.

However, plenty of others have no problem side-loading books on the 12th Gen. I know I did it with my 11th Gen Paperwhite, which was updated with the same software revision as the 12th. (Since I haven't had a chance yet this week to open my 12th Gen.)

it's actually a non problem on mac too. The problem with it is that amazon changed the way the storage of the device is read by computers and mac doesn't have the same standard installed you can say, but you just need a minute to download something that makes you open it or calibre that has it integrated. It's more like an apple problem than a kindle problem (the same format is being used for android phones for example, and gives the same problem on mac)
i just got the matcha kindle basic and i looovee ittt but the ghosting is kind of bad on mine even after turning the refresh up, especially on dark mode :( is it normal to have ghosting on every kindle?? it’s my first time owning one!
Oh no! No, I haven’t had an issue with ghosting… I had it with the raspberry paperwhite when I first got it and unboxed as you see in that video, but it went right away. I would say if it keeps up after you use it for a while, I’d contact customer service!
I read a lot of Freida MacFadden earlier this year or late last year and I really enjoyed all of them. Although I loved it, I don’t have a desire to read no 2 and 3 of the Housemaids series. But I did borrow some others on KU a few mins ago including a Christmas short story that I didn’t know she wrote. I might read that tonight.
I have all my books in Collections also. Without them being in collections, it would drive me nuts. lol
The Housemaid 2 was good.... 3 was okay! I need to be better about collections - mine are kind of out of control! lol!

I've been deciding between this and the colorsoft since I occasionally read graphic novels but something I kept noticing that quick flashy transition with each pop up or when you're scrolling. I assume it may just be how the camera is picking that up but do you find that to be easily noticeable? I've never owned a kindle so I'm trying to do all my research lol
It was more flashy on the 2022 when the page refreshed for sure, the 2024 is better. I think on the paperwhite you can set how often you want the pages to refresh and do that. The camera definitely makes it more noticeable unfortunately! I'm getting the colorsoft in just a few days so I'll show what that looks like and see what we notice on the page refreshing/color screen! :) It's supposedly much better for manga/comics.

I don’t use them all at once - I mostly hold onto them for videos when people want comparisons etc. I read different books on different devices and use my kobo mostly for arc’s! It helps me remember deadlines for getting those done. My basic I take with me everywhere and the oasis and paperwhite stay home since they’re the most expensive. I definitely use them all at some point within a week… but again, I am an e reader enthusiast! :)

I honestly love my basic now, it’s the one I reach for over the paperwhite since I need the pop socket for the paperwhite. I do a lot of reading on the go or in bed and for on the go I need something small and lightweight and before I go to sleep I don’t want to sit up and hold it nicely and the paperwhite is oddly heavy after getting used to the basic! I say do it!

Cannot justify buying the new kindle paperwhite and I am not interested in the coloursoft. If I want to read graphic novels, I'll read them on my phone or iPad as they have much better screens. I usually only read text so the e ink is perfect in black and white.
The e-ink is so great for just reading! I'm interested to see what's up with the colorsoft but the price is steep.
just be warned with the flip cases that wake the kinlde up might muck the screen up. i had a flip to wake on my paperwhite and the kidnle had a mind of its own and took forever to do things that i wanted it to. just be warned so i just use a clear case now
