    Please explain how you got the piece back from the thrift store?

    • @DebisDesignDiary
      @DebisDesignDiary  2 роки тому +21

      You are not the only one who asked that question so I guess part of it was confusing to several people. The piece that was at my sisters house never came back from the thrift store. The buffet that I painted came from my niece which came from another house that I heard was haunted. I don’t think thebuffet has any spiritual issues but there were two separate pieces. Sorry for the confusion.

    Debi…..at age 71….I have been a fan since before the pandemic…..I so appreciate your willingness to share the backstories of your life…..as a high school history teacher whose Master’s program was to bring creative arts into the classroom……during a time when the arts were being cut back terribly in Washington State…..it was cringe-worthy…..I was using extra Pennie’s to find supplies so high schoolers who have multiple ways of learning beyond reading…writing and math strengths could share their mastery of knowledge of the curriculum with paper, paint, poetry, music and storytelling…….etc…..versus standardized testing which became the norm……..this my Dear Debi brings me back to your strengths of creativity and You Blessing us with your stories as you create masterpieces ……I believe this journey with the ability to CREATE is as grueling and tormenting at times as any other profession ….and Yes opening portals of evil in all of our lives is real…..so Dearest Debi “keep on keeping on” with this QUEST for piece of mind in all endeavors……

    I think that little something that pushed you to continue changing this piece knew exactly what it was doing because this turned out to be a masterpiece. The colours are amazing and the few transfers applied are a perfect addition. And, as sad as it was to sand the top back, that was also a brilliant decision. The way the wood/veneer was laid out in a starburst pattern is beautiful so, apart from the overall composition of the piece being improved, it is also nice that the pattern isn't hidden any more.

    Debi, your testimony, your story is so true. I was brought up the same. The odd thing is we went thrifting yesterday, and I woke up early hours smelling an odd smell. The Lord told me I brought something in. So I need to pray and ask which item it is and which needs to go. To God only be the glory. Thank you Debi. Jesus put this video in my feed today for a reason. Thank you.

    I totally agree with you on angels and demons. I brought some of my ex mother in law's furniture in my house after she passed. I felt like I moved her in. House housekeeping went to pot. I got rid of some PCs and prayed over the rest. I bought a storage unit and brought the contents home for my booth. I prayed over them and pray over my booth when I restock.

    I helped my best friend move into an apartment, years ago and the place gave me the creeps, to put it mildly. It was a Saturday and we had a dinner planned with our church group that evening so I went home to clean up and get ready. I made it to dinner and we all were sitting around, talking as everyone arrived, catching up with each other etc. My friend was not there and everyone was asking me where she was. I figured she had just got caught up in moving in and lost track of time, and told them so, but a little later, when she still hadn't arrived I decided to go see what the hold up was. I pulled up in front of her apartment and as I walked up to the door and I could hear this low moaning sound coming from inside her apartment. It was interspersed with comments like "please stop, please go away, etc. I could tell it was my friend and so I started calling to her and telling her I was coming in. I pushed on the door and it opened a little, but she was cowering in the corner behind the door and blocking me from getting in all the way. She kept saying. "Don't come in here, don't come in here" but there was no way I wasn't going in there and I finally got her to scoot so I could come in. I got her off the floor and asked her what was wrong and she said that as soon as I left earlier she had gone into the bathroom and something attacked her. At first I thought she meant someone and I told her that she was safe, that no one was there but she told me again that some Thing had attacked her. Well, I didn't wait any longer. I pulled her out of that apartment and into my car and took her to the restaurant where our friends were. I went in and got our group leaders, an older married couple, and told them what was going on. They came out and prayed with us in the parking lot and then went back with us to her apartment where they prayed over every opening. Every window, door, the heater/ac vents, everything. I tried to get her to stay with me that night but she insisted on staying there and when I checked with her the next morning, all was well. After talking about it, and based off some of the stuff that had happened to her, we surmised that whomever had lived there prior to her had been involved in demonic stuff.

    I lost my parents 18 days apart first my Mom then Dad, both unexpectedly. There was a clock my parents both loved and my Mom and I always set it so it was fast, drove my Dad nuts. One Sunday morning a week after my Dad died the clock was set to the right time. Nobody else in the house.
    When ever I lose something important to me I ask my Mom for help finding it and the item will appear on the floor near some bookshelves the next day. It's nice to know they pop in on occasion I do miss them even though it has been several yrs since they passed. They were my folks but they were also great friends.

    You can get yourself a bunch of white sage (if you have a local crystal shop they might have some) and just "smudge" each piece you buy. This means simply lighting up the sage, blowing out the flames and while it's still smoking pass the sage all over the piece (above, under, inside) so that the smoke touches all the parts.
    If you think this is too "woo woo" just remember that many cultures (including indigenous Americans) from all over the world have done this for centuries (purifying with smoke) and also, in many churches they burn incense and walk around the church with the incense burners - maybe not so much nowadays but this used to be common practice.

    It's good to see that you didn't do this in an hour! It's beautiful. Sometimes I have to leave things for a while before I try to finish. I wait for inspiration. And I've never done anything on this scale. I used to be a real estate agent and I met a lady once who had all this lovely antique furniture and she said it all came from the side of the road. She said if she found something, she'd sit on it till she could get someone to come pick it up for her. She said sometimes she thought there was the spirit of the person who used to own it before her sitting in the chair.
    I have a question. I know you can't paint over wax. If I wax something , and I don't like the tone of it, can I mix the powder with a clear wax and then go over the wax again with the tinted wax.

I have always prayed for protection against experiencing any of those scary things because they scare me half to death and in all these years it has worked. I never even have a nightmare. On the other hand, I have experiences on a regular basis with good spiritual entities that help me and have on occasion even saved me from great harm. The presence is palpable. I was raised by a “psychic” mother who read tarots, interpreted dreams (not in the Godly way), believed in numerology, and took me to a spiritualist church where people would read our auras. When I became a Christian in my early twenties, I really struggled to give some of that up. For quite a few years, I would go to tarot readers even though I knew it was wrong. I shared with a Christian friend at the time and she said that the readings might be right, but they’re not coming from the right source. Amazingly, that comment totally released me from the grip it held over me, and 25-odd years later, I’m still never tempted to go back there. My faith is solely in the One who speaks Truth. Hallelujah! 🙌

    That dresser is absolutely gorgeous, the ray of sunshine on the top needed to be revealed. If I did anything like you, it would look like a hot mess. A friend of a friend had a spirit living in a wardrobe, so yes, it does happen. She would come out and move things on the dressing table, bless her.

    Wow! Love this piece! I really get you’re whole story. I too know we can invite tings into our lives that should not be there and it can really cause us grief. I also struggle with the creative process and can get caught up in trying to do too much to a piece. I appreciate that you persevere through it though and share the good and bad of the process with us.

    I love your stories! You express details so we'll. I feel the same about things having spirits attached. I brought a rocking chair home for my kids room I wanted for bedtime stories. The same night I put it in their room they all were crying as if in fear. I told my husband about how I think spirits attach to objects. He burned the chair!

    Yep. I have a similar story but I think you’d find it too scary-suffice to say I agree with you. It’s important to be on alert, not paranoid, just careful. Careful of outside influences, and inside thoughts. At the same time I think what is negative for one might not be for another. I have a good friend who uses the Tarot and she is a good and kind person, and a positive influence in my life and others… I’ve never felt fear or anxiety. Your piece turned out beautifully! For all the challenges you experienced I think it is a natural process when you’re trying new things, and complex things like you do, to have it go haywire sometime. The key is to persevere and you always do! By the way I had to pause the video several times so I could see the cute little hummingbird in the beginning, and then the other bird crossing the street at the crosswalk! I guess I am alert to birds. Love your videos Debi and all the inspiration you continually provide!

    I love the wAY this piece shows the journey you went through struggling with the dark side. Evil is nothing to be cavalier about and you seem to b extra sensitive in being aware of it's presence...as a lot of artists are. Keep Jesus as your shield and the beauty will come through.

    Debby darling, when can we get DIY paint in Italy. I've been trying to figure out how to make it. I'm going to experiment until the real thing comes along.I loved that piece of furniture the first time with the blue top

    • @michaelsnider2484
      @michaelsnider2484 2 роки тому

      Dear Ms Latici, Yes! Use what you have or you can get now until better comes along! Never wait on your creative impulse, and by experimenting you will find solutions and be able to move forward. Paint is paint after all and you can get all of these effects with regular paint! Surmounting challenges is part and parcel of the creative process. Now, I understand with certain projects we need certain items but I never let what I am "supposed" to use stop me from making things! Don't let it stop you either! Go for it! 🤗

I'm just starting out painting my own dingy furniture.and enjoying COLOR and whimsy in every piece. it's slow going because I change my mind or get a new idea or inspiration. I hope with time, practice, and courage to just go for it I'll create what I love. I wonder ifcthose ladies followed the haunted dresser to the next home.

    Hello Debi, thanks for your very inspiring videos but I am wondering, do you paint the inside of the furnitures (drawers, shelves, doors etc. ) as well ?
    Can't leave it with a beautiful outside and some old paint inside...

    • @DebisDesignDiary
      @DebisDesignDiary  2 роки тому +1

      I’ve never painted the inside, of all the hundreds of pieces I’ve painted I have yet to run across furniture that has the drawers painted on the inside they are usually left un painted. I see some furniture artist painting the sides that pull out and it looks very pretty but I don’t.

    I am glad I am not the only one that has felt that way about this subject. I try to only bring home items that I am totally delighted by and that I feel happiness around. I also leave them in a building for storage sometimes so the spirits can get aired out of them. I guess someone mentioned old mirrors can be the worst for this. Who knows I have purchased 3 over the years one is in storage and will go over my vanity in my bath. Two are very strong solid feeling this one is light and feminine. I do have a small east lake dresser I got on marketplace came out of a cottage on s local lake called east lake. It has wood pulls all original everything in tact. But the minute I unloaded it a pull got broken. I am a bit iffy about it. I like it but am having issues placing it in my decor. It's not happy. I feel like it misses the lake. Dumb to think this way kind of woo woo weird I know.

    Debi, that looks beautiful! I need help, why does the liquid patina stay tacky? I have decoupaged a few items and after weeks it is still tacky. What can I do? I have also used clear wax with same results.

    • @DebisDesignDiary
      @DebisDesignDiary  2 роки тому

      Sometimes liquid patina can stay tacky in a really humid area. If you can put the project in a place that is dry and give it some time it should cure. I’ve never run across this issue but I’ve heard of people living in the Midwest in the south during the hot humid seasons say that they have run across this
