Minnesota is really beautiful. We have 4 different zones of scenery. The NE is where I spend most of my time. The Sawthooth Mountains follow Lake Superior from the north to the south. (Although they are not mountains) The landscape looks like the Pacific Northwest. The southeast is referred to as a bluff country with its rolling hills. Small little picturesque towns dot the landscape. Church steeples from the center of town can be spotted from miles away. The southwest has endless rolling prairies. In fact, the books Little House and the Prairie were based from the town of Maple Grove Minnesota. The Northwest is referred to as the red river valley. The land is farm fields for as far as your eyes can see. The soil in that part of the state is super rich. I believe that the entire area was once covered by sea. I guess we do have a 5th zone. Its the 5 county twin city area. I call this the arm pit of Minnesota because it stinks.
I had trouble hearing some parts of the video. I just wanted you to know you have inspired me to start fishing again. So this weekend I am going to begin taking the truck camper in search of honey holes.
Hopefully you have better luck catching fish than I do! Mandi just told me the same thing about the audio. I might have to start wearing headphones while editing.
Hey Kenny, love your camp videos. You're doing an amazing job with your camp experiences and videos. My wife and I are planning on buying a travel trailer. I have to imagine you deal with a lot higher temperatures then I do. We have a really high dew points around here. Temps in the 90's with dew points in the 70 's make it no fun outside. The lake was a great escape this weekend.

My all-time favorite spot is not in Minnesota. It is a dispersed site I found in the Wyoming Medicine Bow National Forest. The views were out if this world. I made a video of it a few years back while on a road trip. ua-cam.com/video/em8Gr5YASis/v-deo.htmlsi=-qyYSUsRr1uENpct There are soooooo many awesome spots in Minnesota. It would be hard to choose which one i liked the most. However, we have a number of negatives in the state as well. For example, the mosquitoes, deer flies, disease carrying wood ticks, super humid hot summers and insanely cold winters. But don't get me wrong, we do have a couple weeks of prime camping weather in the fall where we are not getting carried away by bugs...we just have to be careful of all the hunters in the woods during that time.
My husband and I camp at Hogback all of the time. Free sites but first come first serve. Fill up fast! There are other boondocks sites around if you just look
One day I'll have to do a two week portage adventure in the BWCA. 30 years ago, back in high school, I was part of the Natural Resources Club. We would spend three weeks hoping lakes. We would never pack enough food and end up eating only Northerns and mixing kool-aid with the lake water to make it drinkable. So many good memories. I think that would be an awesome video.
It's January 22 and we are buried in ice and snow in south-west Michigan. Rain and snow are in the forecast this week :( I am enjoying your talk about hot weather!
I had a good laugh about the skulls as I said to myself after you pointed them out .. well they at least are not human, then you spoke the very same thought !. I would imagine had you found the other you would have been on the phone to connections you know to investigate.
@@KennyOfAllTrades I'm sure you've seen plenty of bad to haunt your mind if you allow it to. Back to the animal skulls though, not far from the farm and on someone else's land within a ravine we used to ride dirt bikes and and there was a sizable skull that sat there on the ground and showed up as it sat on an area of ground that doesn't grow grass well and so one of my friends came up with a name for the place "Skull Hill" . I have not been there in many years now and that was back in the early 1980's when we frequented the place .. how time flies.
Hey Kenny, I would love to see and camp in that area up there and it would be awesome to have cooler temps!! My AC went out in the truck camper so I have been searching for cooler temps too haha. In fact my video that come out tomorrow (Wed) is in the high country of AZ under some shady pines. I now have the brand new AC installed so I’ll be heading out again in the next day or two to shoot another video. Not to brag but we have almost zero mosquitoes here haha 😂
Hello Brother Kenny, nice video listen what app are you using off road.. i saw go hunt. is that the name and if so how do you like it, im looking a terrain map for our travels, any input or recommendations i would appreciate it,,keep it between the lines and safe travels.djj
The app is called on X hunt. I absolutely love the app. I use it weekly. It does a really good job of showing you who the property owners are for every parcel of land. The property lines are always clearly marked so you don't end up somewhere you're not supposed to be. The app is very detailed with boat landings, dispersed camping sites and even Canoe drop off points. It is a paid app. $99 a year covers the entire United States. Or for $29 a year you can pick one state. I have been renewing my subscription for the past 3 years
I use a Go Pro 10 for the majority of the content. A Go Pro 9 on a chest mount, a Osmo Action mounted on the outside of the truck. And I also have a Panasonic G9 for crispy B-roll or if I want the blurry background. That camera only comes out when I have extra time though. The Drone is a DJI Mini 2.
Lol it's a Promedio. I bought it off Amazon. It works well. I have a video showing it. Definitely check out the video, I go over a few items on the camper. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask! ua-cam.com/video/VgiuUQ22Njw/v-deo.html
High temperatures, possible campground campfires getting out of hand with wind and sparks - so close them down. Here, on the West Coast of WA/OR/CA/ID ... and Rockies and Sierras (MT/WY/UT/CO/NV/AZ/NM we have the fire bulletin board signs in the forests (like a speedometer green to red). When its orange to red - due to heat and low humidity - all access is prohibited. Only lightning-sparked fires happen - not human caused (!). Seems that the Midwest only uses locked gates to show no entrance.
Hi Kenny! New sub here, love the channel and cannot wait to see more of your adventures! If you don’t mind making it public, what kind of camper do you have? Absolutely in love with your set up. Thank you 😊
I would love to see my Sub count grow along with the views! ......The last month my views and impressions have tanked! I'm telling myself it's because people are outside and don't have time to watch videos. I'm really happy you found the channel!
@@KennyOfAllTrades thanks for the info on your camper, it’s impressive when a camper that isn’t young looks young due to good care. Curious why your views tanked. Your video quality is on point but I wonder if it’s because YT focuses only on the most likes and comments :/
@Shannon Pargett I don't know why UA-cam dosen't share my videos more. The algorithm can be tricky to figure out. It's ok though. Most people on UA-cam put in years before they have a profitable channel. I'll keep grinding out the videos, learning new techniques along the way. I would love to create content one day for a living, or at least get a majority of my income from it. If I keep positive and continue working for it, it will pay off. Plus, this channel gives me a reason to adventure every weekend!
Another great video, buddy! I have to admit, I prefer videos with more time at the campsite(s) and less time driving. But, variety is good, too... Brian VE3KLT
Hi Kenny, I’m a massive fan of all your video’s,potentially your no1 fan. Delighted you got to cool off…which reminded me of your video: The Cremation Of The Pork Rib’s one. Can I ask how you cooled them off? Anticipating your next vid 😁stay safe🤟🏼
It's a 2004 Arctic Fox M860. I believe the last year of production was in 05. It's comparable to the 811. The truck is a 2015 3500hd Silverado. The truck handles great. Most of the time would wouldn't even know there's a camper in the bed.
It amazed me with living 16 (god awful years in South Duhkota) that we were actually on a plateau of 1200 feet elevation while the entire Mississippi and Missouri watershed was downhill and downstream to the gulf. You would figure that high elevation would be cooler in the summer, and obnoxious in the winter. Nope 90+F and 90+% humidity in summer (crops are growing and sweating) and you pray for the cold Alberta Clipper to come down and cause lightning and thumderstorms knocking down all the moisture in the air. In winter, -40F and yet 60+% humidity, no crops growing now, when you would think with your nose bleeding it was 5%, ... same for the god awful Detroit weather off Lake Michigan and suspected air humidity from the lake - but constant nose bleeds !) all the snow, freezing rain, ice, blizzards, you would pray for the warm Gulf air would come up and melt all the snow ! Entirely azz-backwards - on top of a plateau like South and North Duhkota, Minne-soda, and Wee-scon-sin to the East !
@Kenny Of All Trades ohhhh nooo we have to fix that. My husband is obsessed with his new find of your channel......"come to bed honey!"........." wait, just one more episode" lol
Check this video out. I was from a while ago. I was pretty green with recording and editing, but there is still good information. ua-cam.com/video/VN5VKfpROHI/v-deo.html
I hope you’re keeping your gas receipts, since you’re a UA-camr and travel specifically for your content, you can write off a good portion of that. Check with your accountant/tax person in your state, but he/she will probably recommend you set up your channel as a separate business entity like a LLC (not a big deal, sounds worse than it is), that way you’ll show a loss and more of that can come back to you…. Another fantastic video!!
Thanks! Great advice too. I'll definitely be keeping all busines related receipts. I do have a tax preparer. She told me to expect 30 or 40% of my UA-cam earnings taken as tax. I'm definitely going to be showing a loss on milage alone. Not including any equipment or monthly fees incurred for editing software. Thanks for traveling along on my weekend adventures.

Another great video, but you really are catching some local wildlife...the mosquitos! Curious how do you operate your drone and drive at the same time? I don't have one, but I particularly like those shots of you driving down the road from a bird's eye point of view. How far out from home do you normally go on your weekends, distance or travel time? It seems you put in more driving on this one, and the gas pump total shows that! Yikes, that's crazy, hope those ridiculous prices don't keep you from enjoying your TC and making videos!
Mad skills, that all it take to operate the drone. I normally travel 4 hours to my destination every weekend. It's a really expensive hobby. Making these videos usually cost me 1,200 to 1,500 dollars a month just in fuel! Right now I usually make 150 bucks a month from UA-cam. It's crazy when I think about it! A very expensive hobby, I would love to one day make it my career though.
@@doodles2814 I usually try to go about 3-4 times a year with Kenny. My job requires mostly weekends and Kenny is off weekends so this also doesn’t help..
I think we are in for another hot summer. Last year was also hot. This year we got the heat and the rain. We have had a number of bad storms this year. So many homes have been flooded around here. Hopefully things settle down.
Hey Kenny, quick question for you: Do you ever tow anything behind your truck with the camper on? If so, what hitch extension do you use? Also, is your truck a short box? thanks for the videos, I appreciate your style.
Thanks, I appreciate that! I haven't towed anything yet. I have looked at what I would need if I did bring the boat with. This is only my opinion, I got nothing to back it up with. If I had a little tongue weight I would run a simple 18" hitch extension. Nothing fancy. Something that could be picked up at Harbor Freight cheaply. If I was towing anything substantial I would use a quality piece. I have nothing but good things to say about Torklift. I would go to E-trailer and order a SuperTruss hitch extension. That's my opinion. Thanks for checking out the videos.
Truck Camper Compadre Here In Addition To Kenny's Response... I Tow Often With My 2005 C2500 HD Long Bed ( 6.0 Gas / Auto Trans. ) 2WD With A 2021 Northstar Liberty ( 3200 lbs. Loaded Wet ) Flush With Rear Bumper. I Upgraded My Factory Rear Receiver Hitch With A SuperHitch 20K Unit And Tires ( 3750 lbs. / 10 Ply ) Tow My Polaris RZR On A 5.5' X 10' Single Axle Trailer ( 350 lbs. Tongue Wt. ) Or My 2004 Jeep Rubicon On A 6.5' X 14' Tandem Axle Trailer ( 650 lbs. Tongue Wt. ) Both Tow With Little To No Effort. Just Stay Within Your Truck's Payload And Tow Rating ( Sticker On Driver's Door Jam And Inside Glovebox / Owners Manual ) Of Course Every Vehicle Has It's Regulated Limitations That Must Be Adhered Too. Just My 2 Cents ✌️
I ordered a 2" front receiver from E-trailer. I think it was 140 bucks. It took me 45 minutes to install. It dosent require any special tools. The most time consuming part was cutting the hole on the lower valance for the receiver to stick out. It has a weight rating of 500 pounds. The basket is from Harbor Freight. It's a rear basket for an ATV. It was on sale for 40 bucks. One day I'll carry a winch that is mounted to a 2" receiver in the back seat. That way I'll be able to get out of trouble on the logging roads I find myself on.
Not much wildlife, but a helluva lot of bugs! I went to a cabin up above Toronto a number of years back for the cool weather (I'm in Texas), and the bugs almost carried me away. Need to make a treaty with 'em to let us have the summers bug-free. Any fish in the streams you're passing?
@@KennyOfAllTrades I'm trying to get in one last trip to Colorado.. getting too old and creaky to handle some of the work involved with my camper, certainly no more ladders, but I do need a trout stream to ease my mind.
I have a thermacell that I keep on the steps of the camper. During the mid summer and fall they work good. During a spring or early summer hatch not much will controll the mosquitos. They will darken the sky when they start swarming after a big hatch. It can drive a person insane.
It's a rearview camera. I picked it up off Amazon. It's called Jansite. It cost 49 bucks. I suggest anyone who can't see behind their vehicle to have one. It really comes in handy.
Yes. I went to the Black Hills a few years back. I took off the camper so I could drive Needles Highway. I found a bunch of free dispersed camping outside of Custer. Funny enough, if you go to my channel page, the banner photo is at that exact campsite.
I know we had a few fires last year, I should go online to see what is open and what is closed. So far I didn't come across any restricted roads, but I saw a lot of signs saying to keep on the road in order to not stir up embers. I'm surprised our 8 months of winter dosent squash the possibility of flare ups.
The frequencies between the dash lights and the frames per second on the camera line up, and you see a flash on the video. It doesn't flash when I'm driving, only on film.
I am your friend but I too was disappointed not to find some cooling trick I could use here in my hot texas kitchen. Swamp cooler in a bamboo laundry basket came to mind. Till next time.
@@KennyOfAllTrades Don't cough ! Here its $10/lb for 80/20 hamburger (up to $12-15/lb steaks), grocery store small roasted whole chicken $10, pork $8/lb. Even a bag of salad (!) is $5.
I hear you. A lot of people gave that suggestion so I've changed it up. This video is from last year. I've cut out the adventure of finding a spot. Most people said they didn't care how I got there. They only wanted to see the camping. Initially, my idea for the channel was about the journey of finding the perfect camping spots. I have two days off work a week to make a video, so i would get in the camper with no plans and search for a remote campsite. But a lot of people say they are not interested in that. So now I've been focusing on the camping more.
While yea some of the views were beautiful especially the drone shots Iwas bored with all the driving to get there video not to mention the wasting so much gas the way things are today to find a spot. Sorry but this was boring.
I totally get it. Which is why I mentioned it at the end of the video. I only make videos on Saturday and Sunday. I work a regular Monday through Friday job. I can stay close to home and do more hikes, or drive and do more scenery shots. This time I chose to drive. But thanks for watching.

Every Spring gas goes up in price, every Summer the price goes up and not just a few cents either. I don't remember what the price of gas was in the Fall or even now, sorry.
Please say hello to Mandi for me and take care you two! 👦👱

Love the scenery! Always wanted to go to Colorado but Minnesota looks pretty awesome.
Minnesota is really beautiful. We have 4 different zones of scenery. The NE is where I spend most of my time. The Sawthooth Mountains follow Lake Superior from the north to the south. (Although they are not mountains)
The landscape looks like the Pacific Northwest.
Hi Kenny, every time I watch an older video with the original steps, I wonder how you ever got in. The new steps are awesome!
Right! Sometimes, it was a challenge.
Your videos are so relaxing... People from Brazil here thank you a lot!
That is awesome! Thanks for watching.
Vow what an ideal life and awesome shots
Hey Kenny, love your camp videos. You're doing an amazing job with your camp experiences and videos. My wife and I are planning on buying a travel trailer.
Question, can you send link on those fire starters please. Would like to purchase. Thanks. You should get a sign that says "I'd Rather Be Camping" 😁
Thanks for watching! I'll send you the link to the Fast Fire. You can find them at Cub Foods, Cabelas, Rural King, and Amazon.
Cub and Rural Kind sell them at the lowest price, 6 bucks for a box of them. Amazon has the same box for 18 dollars.

Nice.
Looked like a really good trip
In mountain summers, I look for places where it's raining/cloudy. Usually 20° (or more) cooler.
Pretty area. I did a canoe trip thru Voyageurs Park, many years ago, and would love to get back up north.
I have to find some time to do a video in the BWCA. I think that would be fun. It's been quite a while since I've been in a canoe.
So nice! This is just completely foreign to me being from Southern Arizona, but I love it! Great job Kenny!
I have to imagine you deal with a lot higher temperatures then I do. We have a really high dew points around here. Temps in the 90's with dew points in the 70 's make it no fun outside. The lake was a great escape this weekend.
Another great vid sir, even if it was a lot of seat time…scenery is beautiful nonetheless!
Hmm 🤔 should we take a poll on whether or not you caught a fish or fishes? Lol
Suggestion…leave your new hoodie in the camper…then you’ll have one for the next time you don’t bring one with ya 😉
Lol....it was a super clear lake with no vegetation and gravel bottom, not that im making excuses.....you'll have to watch next week to see how many monsters I did or didn't catch!

I like that park mileage sign - hummingbird mosquitoes .
You go to so many fantastic camp grounds, please share with us what was your favorite spot to camp.
My all-time favorite spot is not in Minnesota. It is a dispersed site I found in the Wyoming Medicine Bow National Forest. The views were out if this world. I made a video of it a few years back while on a road trip.

There are soooooo many awesome spots in Minnesota.
Another great vid kenny. I have been exploring Voyagers for 45 yrs and it never gets old. Alot of those campgrounds are entry points into the BWCA
Thanks Kenny ❤
Really nice place.....
Thanks, a lot of miles in this video....but it all good. Tomorrow's video will be showing more of the area without as much traveling.
Great video if I could tag along you can park free in the National Forest 😀
I had a good laugh about the skulls as I said to myself after you pointed them out .. well they at least are not human, then you spoke the very same thought !. I would imagine had you found the other you would have been on the phone to connections you know to investigate.
Lol. That's something I hope to never find on an adventure. But at least it won't be my report to write!

I have been renewing my subscription for the past 3 years
@@KennyOfAllTrades thanks brother and have a safe 4th and celebrate with enthusiasm.
Very nice video. Out of curiosity, what are you using for a backup camera?
I use a Go Pro 10 for the majority of the content. A Go Pro 9 on a chest mount, a Osmo Action mounted on the outside of the truck. And I also have a Panasonic G9 for crispy B-roll or if I want the blurry background. That camera only comes out when I have extra time though. The Drone is a DJI Mini 2.
Ha! Actually I meant the rear view mirror camera!
Lol it's a Promedio. I bought it off Amazon. It works well. I have a video showing it. Definitely check out the video, I go over a few items on the camper. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

I ask myself what I'm doing here!!! Last week, it was in the 90's with dew points in the upper 60's it SUCKED!!! I'm either sweating or freezing!
Great campground. My husband and I grouse hunt near there........did you catch fish???? I struggle at those two lakes.

Hey Kenny I love your videos .Which video had info about your generator that you carry on the rack in front of your truck?

When I go I drive while Kenny flys the drone. ;)

In Addition To Kenny's Response...
I Tow Often With My 2005 C2500 HD Long Bed ( 6.0 Gas / Auto Trans. ) 2WD
With A 2021 Northstar Liberty ( 3200 lbs. Loaded Wet ) Flush With Rear Bumper.
I Upgraded My Factory Rear Receiver Hitch With A SuperHitch 20K Unit And Tires ( 3750 lbs. / 10 Ply )
Tow My Polaris RZR On A 5.5' X 10' Single Axle Trailer ( 350 lbs. Tongue Wt. )
Or My 2004 Jeep Rubicon On A 6.5' X 14' Tandem Axle Trailer ( 650 lbs. Tongue Wt. )
Both Tow With Little To No Effort.
Just Stay Within Your Truck's Payload And Tow Rating ( Sticker On Driver's Door Jam And Inside Glovebox / Owners Manual )
Of Course Every Vehicle Has It's Regulated Limitations That Must Be Adhered Too.
Just My 2 Cents ✌️
Good video. How is your front basket hooked onto?

I should find a trout stream one of these weekends.
@@KennyOfAllTrades I'm trying to get in one last trip to Colorado.. getting too old and creaky to handle some of the work involved with my camper, certainly no more ladders, but I do need a trout stream to ease my mind.
Have you every tried a Thermacell for the mosquitos? I've heard they work good.
I have a thermacell that I keep on the steps of the camper. During the mid summer and fall they work good. During a spring or early summer hatch not much will controll the mosquitos. They will darken the sky when they start swarming after a big hatch. It can drive a person insane.
Have you tried the stickers on your clothes for mosquito repellant? They’ve just started advertising it in the last month?
I'm going to look for them. Thanks for the heads up.
What is the apparent video recording rearview mirror?
It's a rearview camera. I picked it up off Amazon. It's called Jansite. It cost 49 bucks. I suggest anyone who can't see behind their vehicle to have one. It really comes in handy.
Orange tire to mark a great camping spot. WEIRD 😊.
Do you ever take the camper off the truck, so you can use your truck to cruise around
Yes. I went to the Black Hills a few years back. I took off the camper so I could drive Needles Highway. I found a bunch of free dispersed camping outside of Custer. Funny enough, if you go to my channel page, the banner photo is at that exact campsite.
The McDougal lake campground is closed because of the wild fire last summer.
I know we had a few fires last year, I should go online to see what is open and what is closed.
So far I didn't come across any restricted roads, but I saw a lot of signs saying to keep on the road in order to not stir up embers. I'm surprised our 8 months of winter dosent squash the possibility of flare ups.
After watching many of your videos I was kind of wandering how many miles you put on your truck in a year?
I keep my millage records for taxes. Last year, I had 11,500 miles worth of weekend adventures.
@@KennyOfAllTrades That's not bad. I figured a lot more. I really like your style of videos. I try not to binge watch them to much.

Maybe cut off some of the time getting the spot and more time at the spot and actually doing things while camping there.
RIDICULOUS is a good word especially when The United States was energy independent 3 years ago. You can thank demented Joe Biden for those gas prices.
