Love the Ma. It's interesting, complicated, difficult and unique-looking, but graceful as well. The first 'circle' (hecht ?) reminds me of Nadia Comaneci's dismounts back in her day. It must be harder to leave the bar with the last point of contact being at the waist, rather than the hands.
I really admire the ma dismount. I feel like very gymnasts would be able to generate the amount of power necessary to perform it, because so much of modern gymnastics is based momentum generated by arm and leg strength . this dismount obviously requires an immense amount of core strength. Concurrently, due to emphasis on power and height, I feel like few gymnasts would be comfortable being that close to the bar. the ma dismount also requires extreme situational awareness of the surrounding environment.
The Ma is my favorite on the list; the Ray would be second. Both dismounts require a lot of strength, timing, precision, and power. Gymnastics is such a cool sport!❤️❤️❤️
The Giovannini-Li is definitely my favorite on this list and needs to be upgraded to a F in my opinion (the tucked should be an E). I also love the double front-half out dismount, hope more gymnasts do that one as well!
Tbh, Shawn did it better than most men do it on the HB. A while back she and Nastia were rewatching their Olympic routines, and Nastia asked how she was able to do that. Shawn wasn't sure either.
I like the ray the most. I don’t think the Magana should be upgraded. - Exactly because of the risk of injuries. The one made by the inventor did not look safe. In MAG they have much more possibilities to gain way more hight in the triple back than the women. The men are therefor able to control the kick out and landing. The hight of the bar for the women and the set up of the two uneven bars create some considerable limits for to many rotations. I think there should be upgrading of dismounts that contain twists and that creatively push the limits of what you can do in the many different directions you can do a dismount - forwards, backwards, inwards and reverse containing. There could also be put more emphasis on placing of the twists. For instance a half in half out, full in back out, back in full out
Would just like to point out how great it is that this video does use the ñ in Magaña. Most others I see don't take the time to write the name properly. Ñ is totally different from N. So great job, and thank you.
Thank you, I really appreciate it! I actually searched for an interview in Spanish where the host said Brenda’s name correctly and sent it to the person who does my voice overs. I think he nailed it too 😊
@@gymnasticsmasterclass very much appreciated. Research is important indeed. And yes, Magaña is pronounced well in the video. Hope others will be just as conscious about proper writing and pronouncing. Thanks much!
Thank you so much for making these videos, we love them and I appreciate it even more because I assume a gymnastics analysis YT channel has a low ceiling potential in terms of views, subscribers, and money. I can see you do it for pure love of gymnastics, and we love you for it!
The Ma is just mind-blowing. Perhaps it should be upgraded? I don’t know enough about the sport to have a strong opinion, but I would imagine that it would be particularly tough to pull off
ITA that the Ma should be upgraded! Imo, it's much harder to do such a dismount from off of the hips, than swinging away from off of the hands and arms ( easier to generate height and power from a swing, imo).
It's sad how double double layout is probably a 'basic' dismount at men's bars or probably every male gymnast does this dismount as most probable or 'easiest' one but in WAG we will probably never see it again. 😥
I agree. The men even do a triple double layout more commonly too. It's very difficult to perform in women's gymnastics but I feel like the best UB workers would be able to pull it off. It's probably not done often since most difficulty goes into the routine itself which is why we see easier dismounts
Even though I like the triple twist I understand why nobody uses it. Most gymnasts don't clearly complete three rotations and I see a lot of room for the judges to take away credit for a triple. Underrotation also is an absolute nightmare for the knees, basically this dismount is an acl injury waiting to happen
The Ma, w/o a doubt. those bar workers were so darn impressive in the 70s and 80s. so creative and w/ difficulty that has stood the test of time (Mcnamara's mount, Ma's dismount, Comaneci flip, etc) im a 70s baby, so im probably a little bias.:)✌️🤔🤪
There were plenty of gymnasts from the late ‘70s onward who would have done just fine in the modern era. They had training & different styles but one of the biggest differences was how much more unforgiving the equipment & surfaces were. There was more emphasis on strength & control partly because some of the acrobatics gymnasts do today would have been borderline suicidal a few decades ago. I learned how to vault on the long horse. That sucker was scary AF!
I think it's because of the blind landing. I feel like more gymnasts that do a regular full-in could do a mustafina as well but don't risk it due to the blind landing. That's why we'll either see a full-in or fabrichinova instead
Can someone explain why the women have two bars of different heights and the men only have one high bar? I get it that the women have different apparatus than men except vault and floor but I don't understand why the women ever had a second bar to have to perform.

Me too. 🦋

Favorite is the Ray. Shawn Johnson performed this in her uneven bar routine.

Ray and triple twist are my favorite.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
I saw a female gymnast perform an Arabian double layout on Instagram and can no longer find that video.
shawn’s ray was sooo good!
i miss unique UB routines

@@rebeccasilver2181 on HB as release or dismount?
@@marthaambarura3756 dismount - not the toe-on straddle Tkatchev but the double double layout.
I would like to see a scoring system that incentivizes original elements. The sport can be monotonous
Me too! It’s missing artistry almost completely now!
Same!
shawn’s rays are just so pleasing to watch, her form is always so impeccable! the ray and the triple twist are definitely my favorites!
I would love to see anyone do the Ma. I could barely follow how it was actually being done. Super cool to watch!
The triple twist and Ray are my two favorite dismounts ever!
I like the ray the most.

@@gymnasticsmasterclass Honestly i appreciate your effort. Your videos are quality.
It shows too much respect to the gymnast and her legacy and that's so nice
@@gymnasticsmasterclass I aprecciate your commitment to your videos
Nothing brings me more joy than Shawn Johnson's Ray in her AA in Beijing 😭
My fav is the Ray. I like the clean straight leg positioning.
I love the Ma. It would add a nice punch of power to any modern routine.
Raise the Ma to G and state it is an exception of the dismount too close to the bar deduction
I love the Ray. Elise was such an underrated gymnast.
Thank you so much for making these videos, we love them and I appreciate it even more because I assume a gymnastics analysis YT channel has a low ceiling potential in terms of views, subscribers, and money. I can see you do it for pure love of gymnastics, and we love you for it!
The Ma has a badass funky look to it.

The Triple Twisting and Ray are my favorite dismount.
Only Ma can do the Ma. If it's a G maybe we'll get to see someone else do it.
The Mustafina is also rare
I would pay to see the Ma again.
never saw Ma in million gymnastic video on youtube... that is something
I liked all of them, I am leaning toward the MA
Victoria Karpenko also had Ray dismount even before Elise, also Leanne competed it at Dragon Invitational in 2021!
The last one was my favorite dismount of the list.
The Ma is so incredibly awesome looking! I so wish someone would perform that!
I miss the "hecht-ing" dismounts that were big in the seventies and eighties.
The Ma dismount is SO cool.
The triple twist is a beautiful skill.
It's sad how double double layout is probably a 'basic' dismount at men's bars or probably every male gymnast does this dismount as most probable or 'easiest' one but in WAG we will probably never see it again. 😥

Leanne Wong performed a pretty good one in 2021.
I love the Ma dismount :D
The triple twist needs to be upgraded because almost no one can generate enough height of speed to execute it properly.
Wow! Thank you so much!!!
Wow The Ma is super cool
Even though I like the triple twist I understand why nobody uses it.

Like as spanish speaker I loved that you pronounced the ñ 👌
I can see Elze Geurts may probably do Ma dosmount in the future.
Can you do a video on DLO deductions on floor and bars?
Is the Ma still allowed in the current CoP?
The Ma is so cool!
Actually, it’s interesting to see most of Magana falls it’s because it was overrotated-
Better over than under.
Giovanni li is my fav!
The Ray and triple twist.
the ma deserves at LEAST a g. its extremely impressive due to its necessary amount of situational awareness.
The Ma its my favorite ... Wow
Aliya Mustafina is the queen of uneven bars 🥰
The Mustafina is the rarest dismount because she's like the only gymnast to have competed it internationally.
I think it's because of the blind landing. I feel like more gymnasts that do a regular full-in could do a mustafina as well but don't risk it due to the blind landing. That's why we'll either see a full-in or fabrichinova instead
Something cannot be more or less “unique” if something is “unique” it means it is the only one in existence.
True. Same with "perfect." If something is "less perfect," then it's not perfect.
I feel like Simone could absolutely do a triple back I wonder why she doesn’t?
The Magaña 🇲🇽
Only the Chinese gymnast did the Ray actually laid put (In this video)
Bring back the classics! Everything is the same now.
The Ma was best. Secondly, the triple twist was the next best.
I saw a female gymnast perform an Arabian double layout off uneven bars on Instagram and can no longer find that video.
Komova over rotating the Magaña in a not-too-serious training and making us fans regreet her retirement again and again
Can someone explain why the women have two bars of different heights and the men only have one high bar? I get it that the women have different apparatus than men except vault and floor but I don't understand why the women ever had a second bar to have to perform.
Was ever competed 2,5 twist?
Yes, Alina Stanila did one in 2014
The Magaña
Ma needs to be a “G”
I’m just going to say this to get it out of my system
The Mukhina dismount is still in the code of points, but it is physically impossible
what is it?
The Ma should be at least a G imo.
i am waiting to see them in NCAA...lol
The 2004 Olympic Games were the last games with beautiful gymnastics
i love the content in this channel but the narrator talks too slow for me, I always have the video set at 1.25 speed at least
Ma is most impressive, arabian is most beautiful, and triple twist is impossible to get rid of monentum without a step.
it is possible if the gymnast is capable of a 3.5 but only do a triple twist for a safe landing haha
A pretty
tucked salto looks so ugly to me. even though it's difficult, it's completely visually unappealing.
I miss originality.
