this video and your release move guide just make me wish gymnasts used more hip-circle-based skills. The COP CLEARLY rewards them, and it opens up a great deal of variety. It would make UB look more unique again.
I like this video alot it lets everyone know how hard it is to do some of these dismounts. I was an elite gymnast at the age of 12, and my dismount of bars was a double front. I will tell you now it is very hard to land without falling alltogether or not taking steps back or forward. Blind landings were somthing that i was very good at.
1992-1994. She was born in November 1978, but she wore that leotard more than once so hard to tell what exact competition that routine was from. Maybe someone else will know.
I have absolutely zero knowledge of this sport, but i'm really curious: Why do the athletes have to stretch so comically extreme after they landed? Is it just "how it's done"? Still, very interesting video. How did I get here?! :D
It's to show they have landed at stuck it - only some woman in the sport do it and it's kinda "how it's done" it's more common the the 20th century and in college gymnastics too
Its called a salute and its to [on uneven bars] indicates the routine is done. Not sure exactly why and I'm a gymnast lol. Just like Kieran said, its how its done.
Yeah that...the Ma salto is lovely no doubt, but the difficult is not enough to outweigh the possible incoming deductions. It's too easy to land it with chest down and if anything goes wrong, a deep squat.
WOW! I always liked Ma's dismount, very dynamic, not to say that the others aren't. Why can't we see these skills performed anymore?! It's frustrating...
@silivas4ever its becuz of the music, it is not available in your country (which is?) some of my vids are unavailable in certain countries too im afraid there is no way for you to watch this unless you ask Mostepanovafan to change the soundtrack
Pues sí se llama Magaña, aunque en realidad la primera en realizarlo fue Svetlana Kozlova que lo realizaba más o menos 10-12 años antes que Magaña y en realidad el que es considerado el más difícil de todos es el Ray.
didnt shannon miler, svetlana boginskaya and yelena shushunova all do the full twisting double back dismount before oksana chusovitina even attempted it in a major competition ?
MostepanovaFan, does the code of points say the gymnasts that perform the skill, or do you have to involuntarily go out of your way watching bar routine after bar routine until you find the dismount.
professionally done Mostepanovafan........one question........these are all on the 09 code of points BUT a cpl of these arent even possible now days like 4:32 and 4:53 due to the bars being too far apart now...how can they make it onto the 09 code of points list I wonder???? anyway gr8 vid
@MaebySurelyBarely Thanks, but I wanted to know, if she performs a D dismount, will she just get a .5 for fulfilling a CR of another .4 for performing a D element, getting .9 in total?
You know I was always wondering do double layouts with split legs legal? Kind of like what Gutsu would do on floor. If they are legal are they the same difficulty of a regular double layout?
shoora blader Tia Orlando used to do it, it's still legal but it's too easy, that's why you never see it in competition. In modern elite competition there's a deduction for dismounting on bars, beam and floor with anything easier than a D element.
Does anyone know if there is footage of 6.508, the double front piked half out? It was supposedly done by Tunde Pentek, but I can't find footage of it. Just of her crashing on her head on a Jaeger.
I see what you mean - I just thought "they cant even do these couple of dismounts now in international competition due to the bars being way apart-how can they be listed in the points system with FIG" but yep I know what your saying
How do they determine the difficulty letter for each skill? I mean, some are obviously much more complex than others, but I would think different gymnasts find certain skills easier or harder than another gymnast would, & some skills look similar (to me anyway, an average viewer), so how do they come to a consensus?
In the descending order of difficulty: Posture: Layout > Piked > Tucked. Number of saltos: Triple > double > single. Number of twists: 3 > 2.5 > 2 > 1 > 0.5 > 0. Blind landings: Yes > No. Entry: In-bar > Clear hip circle > Straddle > Toe on > Giant swing. The rating of a certain element is usually determined by those factors.
Every gymnast is suited to their own style (i.e. some like twists, others flipping, , some like backwards, others forward). But universally it is just decided by the number of twists, number of saltos, and by form. layout is hardest, followed by piked, then tucked (layout has the hardest position to keep and longest flip speed, tucked is easy to keep and flips much easier)
im not a gymnast but im curious, what will give you better score a Bar or a double salto backwards straight with a full twist??? sorry if said something wrong im not an expert just a really big fan ^^
They are always there, but gymnasts usually do double layout or full twisting double backs because they are the easiest way to get a D rated dismount as to fulfill the composition requirement. As of 2019, they are still in the code.
Yes my bad, they aren't banned, they are just more exhasting to do, and most coaches aren't familiar with the best techniques to perform them, since they are so uncommon.

I LOVE Shawn Johnson's dismount. Double double layout! Awesome
I like this video alot it lets everyone know how hard it is to do some of these dismounts. I was an elite gymnast at the age of 12, and my dismount of bars was a double front. There was a Spanish gymnast who did a double layout dismount in the 1980's. Her name escapes me at the moment.
Tricia Williams Eva Rueda
what a delight to watch all these diverse ub dismounts!!
thanks for posting :)))
I love the "Kismet" music from bond!!! Great video!!!
Yay He Kexin is my favorite
Jaycie Phelps had the best Double Front with Half Twist! She nailed that at the 96' Olympics, and made it look EASY!!
This is perfect. Thanks for posting this.
Again more of my faves!
In Athens 2004 a Spanish gymnast did from the high bar double pike dismount
Shawn's dismount is just so epic. And the most difficult.
The code of points can be downloaded from the FIG website (it is in the Rules section)
I remember that two Russians did that dismount, I believe their names are Evgenia Kuznetsova (1999) and Natalia Ziganshina (2001).
People don't realize how bars is truly the most unique event in women's gymnastics
2:50 I love this win!
Well, as you can see with the Ma dismount, the hip circle can be done on one bar; it's different than the "belly beat" from one bar against another.
ok that is an amazing dismount guide... thank you for uploading
i love these videos that you're making! great stuff!!!!!
1992-1994. She was born in November 1978, but she wore that leotard more than once so hard to tell what exact competition that routine was from. Maybe someone else will know.
Thank you for these video 'guides' MostapanovaFan! You ROCK! ♫♫
Steffi Kraker should have been Olympic Champion on uneven bars in 1980. Awesome dismount she performed, even for today.
This video is great! My dismount is the clear hip hecht.
i love the dismount done by daria joura 4:10 and the fordward 1.5 twist at 3:57
I have absolutely zero knowledge of this sport, but i'm really curious: Why do the athletes have to stretch so comically extreme after they landed? Is it just "how it's done"? Still, very interesting video. How did I get here?! :D
It's to show they have landed at stuck it - only some woman in the sport do it and it's kinda "how it's done" it's more common the the 20th century and in college gymnastics too
it tells the judges that the gymnast has finished her routine
Its called a salute and its to [on uneven bars] indicates the routine is done. Not sure exactly why and I'm a gymnast lol. Just like Kieran said, its how its done.
It's a very 20th century thing - a lot of gymnasts still do it today though
The dismount Li Ya does at 2:29 is a dbl arabian pike with a half twist.
Someone needs to do the Ma.
The Andree Pickins dismount was going hard, I'm surprised I dont' see that more often now a days...
It's frustrating...
ill be looking forward to it. u wouldnt mind puttine ur other events on as well? i love u see ppl my age doing incredible gynastics
@luv4cookie1 not only that but she pulls her legs so far apart it's like she's checking that all her bits are still there!
I liked that. Nice work!
@silivas4ever
its becuz of the music, it is not available in your country (which is?)
some of my vids are unavailable in certain countries too
im afraid there is no way for you to watch this unless you ask Mostepanovafan to change the soundtrack
lol I used to be so confused by what Okino's ub dismount was- realizing it is basically the Comaneci in pike helps!
Check the description box! It's Kismet by Bond
Brittany Rogers does.
wow, i liked the hip circle hect
I love Uneven bars. :)
didnt shannon miler, svetlana boginskaya and yelena shushunova all do the full twisting double back dismount before oksana chusovitina even attempted it in a major competition ?
@TheGymSavant Yeah I watched slowly and I saw an arabian pike with a half twist. She also did a piked arabian without the half twist also.
Wow, great video, thanks very much for making it!!! :)
MostepanovaFan, does the code of points say the gymnasts that perform the skill, or do you have to involuntarily go out of your way watching bar routine after bar routine until you find the dismount.
Was there a version of a double layout where the legs were separated? I think I saw a video once and someone said it was an F skill.
Thanks for the help. Has anyone ever done a Magana with a half twist or would it be named after the gymnast who does it?
great video by the way
professionally done Mostepanovafan........one question........these are all on the 09 code of points BUT a cpl of these arent even possible now days like 4:32 and 4:53 due to the bars being too far apart now...how can they make it onto the 09 code of points list I wonder???? anyway gr8 vid
No. Nothing that is banned appears in the code of points, and there are a lot less banned elements than people think.
Go the hip circle Hecht!!!!
Is full in pike still a D?
MostepanovaFan: i saw the CoP, but how do find these elements one by one? and how long does it take to make a guide like this?
well done
why is there a diffrance between the two 6.405's and 6.407's and 6.408? it is just the same
if a gymnast does a D dismount in her routine, does it means she get an extra 0.5 automatically?
If someone were to do a Magana dismount but with a half twist, what would the difficulty level be?
Is clear hip hetch backwards salto a thing?
опа опа
Gymnast at 3.35, Tessa Pama, where did she go?
Can you even do the Hecht dismount in this day and age when the bars are so far apart?
Great vid.
@MaebySurelyBarely Thanks, but I wanted to know, if she performs a D dismount, will she just get a .5 for fulfilling a CR of another .4 for performing a D element, getting .9 in total?

MostepanovaFan PLEASE ANSWER ME
where did you get this information,,, i've been serching it and i can't find it
im confused but entertained
4:55 is soooo cool!
"on hb salto backward tuckd 4:22 " does this dismount still exist?
Yes! I'm actually planning on competing it next year
shoora blader Tia Orlando used to do it, it's still legal but it's too easy, that's why you never see it in competition. In modern elite competition there's a deduction for dismounting on bars, beam and floor with anything easier than a D element.
I was wondering the same thing.
people should start doing either of Ma's dismounts...just to add something different
aww my dismount isn't on there :(
Since the Magana has the highest difficulty value (G), a Magana with a half twist would most likely be rewarded the same.
@AbbyTumbler13 *sarcastically* ya right
I'd love to see someone do a hecht dismount! Not that I think anyone actually would haha
It was really popular in the 1960's, 70's and early 80's. I think they're banned nowadays.
I'd like to see hip circle hecht nowadays
@markedexclusive shouldn't that be maxi gnauck?
Are the last few not allowed any more?
THANKS so much! great video!! :)
why didnt u put the korbut dismount?
Toe on front layout ?
Does anyone know if there is footage of 6.508, the double front piked half out? It was supposedly done by Tunde Pentek, but I can't find footage of it. Just of her crashing on her head on a Jaeger.

Fabrichnova 2:42 have difficult F, someone know how many years she had on that video?
I love your montages. What happened to your old account?
Great! Thank you!
Thank you!

@MostepanovaFan about code of points.........where did you downloaded it?i want to download too but i dont know what to download in rules section
im not a gymnast but im curious, what will give you better score a Bar or a double salto backwards straight with a full twist??? sorry if said something wrong im not an expert just a really big fan ^^
Actually, the two will get the same score, they are both E element (0.5 pts).
ruyvenalton thank you, I wasn't sure about it. :)
Brava, MostepanovaFan!
the one at 4:25 is soooo cool
has anybody ever done a double forwal=rd salto in the piked position ?
Would anybody happen to know the name of this song? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
the SONG please
the underswing with front tuck salto didnt tuck very much... difficulty B, efficiency .5A
The last one was F difficulty so why do I ever see gymnasts doing hip circles off the high bar for dismount
are all the hip circle dismounts banned now? don't think I saw any of those at the olympics
Yes I think those moves are banned.
They are always there, but gymnasts usually do double layout or full twisting double backs because they are the easiest way to get a D rated dismount as to fulfill the composition requirement.
As of 2019, they are still in the code.
Yes my bad, they aren't banned, they are just more exhasting to do, and most coaches aren't familiar with the best techniques to perform them, since they are so uncommon.
it looks like li ya is doing a half in half out piked...not a full twisting double pike
Some of these couldn’t be done anymore simply because the bars are farther apart.
I miss the Gratt and the Pentek
