Can’t wait to see how you’ll introduce the dirt in the cages 😊 I put some in a large glass jar that I buried in the substrate so that only the opening of the jar is visible, my hamster loves to dig down in it!
Omg I love this so much! I went to pets at home looking for this, but I was so sad because the coco fibre was all sold out :( Next time I got fingers crossed there is some. Btw you look so pretty and the hamsters cages are amazing xx
how do you store it when it's ready ? how long is it safe to keep once made ? thanks for showing us your method and i'm sure pets at home will be getting many people in to buy these coco fibre bricks .
I tend to just keep it in the plastic tub until I’m ready to use it ☺️ I’ll get back to you on the how long will it last when I change it out. One thing to do is if I dries out too much it can become pretty dusty so is worth having a little fine spray/mist bottle to spray it every now and then so it’s not too dusty 😊💕
Thank you ☺ You can check out my latest setup for the ikea detolf here ua-cam.com/video/yJuEjVcIRao/v-deo.html i also have another cage setup on the way for next week ☺
Just got two blocks, 1 for each of my hammies alongside live mealworms. Thank you for this, very helpful! x Will look lovely in my detolf and 134 really useful box bin cage! x
I buy little circular discs from Amazon (coco coir discs) £13.49 they are smaller therefore easier to hydrate also if using it in a glass dish/jar they are the perfect size.
Thanks lovely ☺️ yeah I’ve heard a couple of people say that, how annoying. Also I saw your Etsy page the other day, I’m definitely going to have to get some name stickers from you! 💖
I gotta buy some of this stuff, I did go into the petstore a couple months ago and had some in my cart, but it was like 12 bucks and I just didn't feel like it was worth it for the size.... So I didn't end up purchasing it 😅. Idk if that makes me cheap lol. Maybe I will buy some in future because I think it looks really cool and it'd be nice for a hamster to have different substrates. Very helpful video, thank you for making this! 😊
I'm setting up the cage now with some coco sub, but a bit paranoid about using it because it's moist. Its 90% dry but I'm worried about 10% of humidity getting trapped in my Detolf cage which is open on top and thats the only place where air goes in and out. Im so confused about this moisture business because aren't the hamsters supposed to be able to burrow and therefore the bedding needs to be a bit most to hold the holes? Some say organic soil is good, some say it's not safe. If completely dry, there will be a fine particle of dust more or less which isn't safe for them? I know from that reason people buy paper bedding, but the hamsters would not be able to find those in nature, right?? So going back to my question, will my 90% dry coco sub be safe for a hamster? Thank you so much in advance!
Can I leave this in my hamsters cage for a whole month or will it get to dusty (I spot clean but do a full cage clean evey month) I will spot clean it just like his sand but i usually don't fully clean his sand bat out till the monthly clean. Do u think it will be fine for a month? Xx love ur channel (subscribed) 🥰
I know this is 3 months late, but I finally found coco fibre ! Edit: thanks for seeing this 😂 I am just making the coco fibre now, while also following along with this video hahaha, I have added the first load of water right now, so I will update you on how snowy likes the soil :) Also how much does the brick multiply, I brought a container that is smaller than yours, but I am unsure if it is big enough 🤔 I will store the soil in the container, and if there is too much, I will just add in the soil to snowys cage right away 😘🥰
@@TianiSimoneX I am letting it sit now x It is filling up the container, luckily my soil isn’t as damp as yours looked, cuz urs looked very damp, that’s why I’m adding water in moderation, so it won’t take as long to to dry xx
Hi! So I just bought a brick of coco humus and I thought to add it to my hamsters cage. But im going away tommorow and will be gone for about 4 days. I'm just wondering if this product is safe for an syrian hamster?
Hello! Okay so iv got soil in my hamsters cages, I read somewhere that it shouldn't be completely dry? I'm confused 😂 mine drys out loads, is this okay or not?
So if it becomes completely dry I can become pretty dusty so you want it to have a little moisture but where it will not stick to your hand or clump together if squeezed if that makes sense 😂😊 you can also keep a fine spray/mist bottle to spritz it once it’s in your hamsters cage to spot it becoming dusty x
Ah I love moss in hamster enclosures! I brought some a month ago and added bits of it around the cage, but when I get more stuff (natural stuff) I’m going to add a moss section to give them more enrichment! :)
If you use it dry or allow it to dry out completely then yes it’s pretty dusty but as long as you make it up and use a mist bottle to prevent it completely drying it’s fine
Hey I was wondering if you know if the lose substrate of eco earth coconut fiber is safe for hamsters to eat? Cuz mine likes to nibble on it but I can’t find answers if it’s safe or not and I really wanna make her habit more even more natural looking
😂😂 it’s a little tender/tight when you’re moving up to bigger sizes but I wouldn’t say really painful or anything. I stopped stretching them about 5 years ago now so no they don’t hurt 😊😂💕
I've done this before, I just squeezed put as much water as possible by using my hands and a super fine strainer to push it against, Len left it in my airing cupboard (really warm) for a fee days
I accidentally bought this brick thinking it was soil and this video popped out in my recommendations, thank you so much, very helpful!

I have a large glass jar too that I’m thinking of adding into Albus’ cage, he loves digging around bless him 💕

I heard don't give live mealworms cus theyre bite the hammys checks inside and hurt them

There's way too many coco peat here in my country.

Honestly I’m exactly the same I’ll walk around with something and then be like no too expensive at the last minute 😂💕
Awesome video!
How good is this coco fibre for burrowing?
Mine love having a dig in it however because it’s super loose I doubt it would hold actual burrows even if there was a load of soil added x
Do you mix into the whole cage or just a section or large bowl for hamsters
I bought the exact same co co fibre about a month ago but I added too much water and it took a while to dry. I’ll try this next time 😅 thanks!
Yeah that’s why I like to make them up this way, tends to dry out soo much quicker 💕

Thanks a lot I appreciate it 🙏

Yes it's safe! My syrian loves it :)
