I saved this video years ago, when I tried on my own hair and failed. Hadn't tried again since. Watched it again yesterday and was able to do 4 solid, nice-looking cornrows on my daughter's hair, on the first try. THANK YOU.
Jess Raw I appreciate that!! To me it’s a no brainer. She’s my child and I’m responsible for her hair. Period. I’m sorry that it’s unique or special when a white mom learns how to do their child of color’s hair! 😩💜 I posted a video recently of our wash day and style routine! I love her curls!!

I'm here for the same reason. I work at a youth shelter and one of my kids asked me to help her with her hair. I felt so bad telling her that I literally had no clue how to help or take care of it. And neither does she because she's so young. I tried to put it in a pony tail today when she saw it she gave me the most clear WTF look. 😂 So I'm learning some new things.
A “Teacher at its finest “ been trying for years to learn how to braid and this just taught me . I have a doll head I use to practice showing the first corn roll to the second has to be the most accurate thing ever and idk why it actually helped me while motivated me like would you look at there !!! By her placing that in the video I knew I would finally learn properly how to braid . I immediately realized what I was doing wrong during her teachings. When you have someone who genuinely wanna see others “Learn “ what they “Know” that my friends is called a teacher . Many may wear the tittle but very few have the heart and passion while being genuine. I thank you so much for this video and shout out to me because thanks to my teacher I finally graduated from not “knowing “to have learned how !! Thanks best teacher ever ❤

I'm here in 2022. I have multiracial children. My youngest has hair that's good for braiding and cornrowing. I had someone doing his hair but life has gotten hectic for her. So I'm hoping to learn. I know how to basic braid. This video gives me more hope. I just need that type of comb and a doll to practice on. Because my youngest is 3. I had to hold him and bribe and distract him while my neighbor was braiding his hair. But he loves having braids. He would repeatedly walk to the mirror and look at his hair with a huge grin. So cute 🥰
Thank you, it wasn't perfect but with your thorough and visibly detail tutorial, I was able to do my very first successful cornrow on my daughter's hair.
This is a fantastic tutorial. My daughter's friend stayed the week with us, she got her hair all wet and was worried her mom would be upset. So we washed and conditioned her hair and were able to do it exactly like she wanted. She was happy, her mom was happy, and my daughter felt very good about doing something for her friend. So, thank you very much.
Finally I found a video that’s simple and actually helpful. She does the braid in a certain place which is easy for me to try instead of around the ear like everyone else. I can’t even explain how good she gave instructions, I really thank her because now I can just rewatch and understand more with such simple directions.
When I saw that broken comb I knew you knew your stuff. I didn't know how to do cornrows until I had to practice with my daughter. She's 9 now and I feel like I'm just getting neat enough work to experiment, but I don't blow dry her hair before braiding. Her hair is mid-back now but shrinkage is a beast so it usually hangs just past her shoulders in braids.
im sitting here crying at that broken comb comment, since i pause the video to start looking for comments like that lmaooo! ok now, back to the video. lolllll I cant!
Thank you for this video! I work in a nursing home, and due to covid, visitors and visiting time is restricted. We have a black resident who has not had her hair done in forever. Now, visitors are allowed, but not for long enough to be able to do her hair. We have no other staff that know how, either. I have watched your video a couple of times, and I am going in (on my day off) tomorrow to braid her hair for her. Your video was very helpful. Seems kind of like a French braid (but you take the hair from under...instead of over) and doing it in a smaller area. I just hope I can make her hair look nice for her. :)
She was the first one who started the gap in the comb. Everybody else followed suit. You're the GOAT when it comes to technique and braids. Been watching you since 2015.
This is so helpful! I’m a white 14 year old learning how to do this for my 8 year old black cousin and she always tries to explain it too me but honestly this video has taught me perfectly!
@@kysalenay thankyou! I do try to help her and living with her these past couple of years has taught me to appreciate even more the efforts black people have to go through with doing their hair! People really need to understand their efforts a lot more
I just came back to this video to say THANK YOU SIS. YOU ARE THE TRUTH!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😭😭😭 I went a whole LIFETIME not knowing how to cornrow! It was one of the things I was always ashamed of as black woman. I watched dern near EVERY VIDEO ON YT. I found your video 3 months ago, and I was able to cornrow sb entire head nicely for the FIRST time in my life! I practiced everyday since on my daughter's hair and now I've gotten so good, ppl are shocked when I tell them I only learned a couple of months ago. I can even cornrow my own hair now, so I'm no longer confined to twists! Thank you for uploading, Idk what I would've done without this video! 😭😭😭
Im learning how to braid my black boyfriends hair. Hes never had braids before and he was SO excited when i said id try for him. Thank you for teaching slowly and step by step! I hope mine comes out good for him ❤
Kat Slat where I'm from (The Bahamas) literally everybody in my school even in the seventh grade knew how to row (that's what we call it down here) and I always felt kinda embarrassed when I would say that I don't know how. But a few weeks ago my friend taught me how but it wasn't coming out neat and I didn't like the look, so I came to this video and I got better now I'm going to keep practicing to get better and neater.
I've read comments from people who've walked all different lives, and I'm here to add to that. I am a doll collector, and this has taught me so many good ways to braid both textured and non-textured hair for my dolls :)
No one taught me how to braid growing up, your videos help me a lot, you taught me how to box braid on my hair knot and crochet. I want to thank you from my whole heart🤎🤎.
I’m not black, but I wanted to admire how much time you all spend making your hair look so FLAWLESS AND BEAUTIFUL and I’m so so so loving this 👍❤️ this is absolutely gorgeous
Her: before you learn to cornrow you must first know how to do a simple braid. Me: I can do that. Her: *starts braiding very fast at expert skill level* Me: I can't do that
LOL! it took me almost an hour to braid my daughters hair. i was thinking maybe bcuz shes only almost 2 yrs. but then i realized...nope...i just suck :(
After 6 years of braiding single braids and watching UA-cam tutorials on how to conrow I finally learned because of this video. Thank you so much, you explained it so well. I am so proud of myself .
as a left handed person this type of cornrowing took me a really long time to grasp. my hands were braiding in the wrong direction. with lots of practice i finally got it. thanks for this tutorial
This video is so old and yet it is still teaching people like me to braid!! I successfully did a full head of cornrows on my 7yr old tonight!! First time ever. This is a great tutorial!! I watched several before finding this one and this was the winner!! Thank you for teaching us🥰
This is 1000% the best how to cornrow video on UA-cam. I've sent it to my friend. This is the only video that has properly broken down the process for people who don't know anything about this. I'm forever grateful and you have opened up my hair to knew more beautiful styles. I've also gotten better at styling my friends little sister's hair. Best work I've done in ages. Thank you so much!
I FINALLY LEARNED HOW TO CORNROW MY HAIR!!!! Thank you so much for this video. My cornrows are a little jagged and uneven but my hair is braided down and my hair looks great!
@@brendanmoll4799 imma be real with you... I don't care about the back as long as it's secure. 🤣🤣🤣 I usually just crochet over the back, anyways. I can understand how it's hard if you want it all to show, tho. That's just my solution, lmao!
You were very patient and clear in your tutorial thank you! I discovered that I do not have the proper fingertip grip I use more of second knuckle grip and it makes a looser braid and hand fatigue. I also grab the entire row of hair to add to the braid instead of splitting it into 3 additions. I will try your technique. I feel encouraged!
I just learnt it... Wish I could show you my work... I honestly got better as I went and it was obvious. Now I'm doing it without a mirror... All in just 20 minutes... Thank you so much. You're a true angel
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've been trying to cornrow for YEARS and it has never worked. I watch 6 mins of this video and OMG it worked. You are Great!!!
Because of you, I can now care for my daughters hair! I didn’t learn until I watched this video 3 times! Thank you! I’m sharing this video on my blog so other moms can learn!
Guess what !! I have been watching this video for two days ago so today I have tried to do it practically on my friends hair and I have done it perfectly just like you , thanks alot 💋💋😍🥰🥰
I see these 10 year olds learning how to braid but I’m 14 and corn rolling is the harder than math. edit: I meant corn ROWING . as long as yall knew wtf I was talking ab it shouldn't matter how I spell it 😭
Thank you! I've been wearing my hair super short for years and now I'm getting my hair done in crochet. Next step is learning how to braid so I can do my own crochet. You're a good teacher.... calming my nerves reassuring me I'll get better with time.❤
You are so talented! My daughter is African American and she loves to wear wigs but needs her natural hair braided to wear them. I’m now able to do that for her thanks to your video. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this video! I FINALLY figured out what I was doing wrong. I was adding pieces of hair to the left and right sections as I went, instead of the middle section! I did my first successful cornrow and I want to shout with joy!!
Niki kimbro its still adding to the sodes, but she grabs the side first and then adds more hair to it instwad of trying to bring all the hair to the middle in one sweep.
I've tried to learn how to do this for years and could never get it! I watched this video about ten times and gave it a try. I FINALLY GOT IT 😃😃😃😃 Thank you so much for the step by step guide ☺ Fantastic video 👍
I absolutely agree! I've been trying for 5 years to braid my baby girl's hair without having to explain to other people that I have just learned. This lovely lady is a true teacher not just skilled at what she does. My baby's hair looks super cute today 🎉🎉😀😀
Thank you so much! This is the most helpful tutorial video on how to cornrow for beginners that I have ever seen. I actually cornrowed for the first time ever watching your video. You're a great teacher! Thanks!
Sooo after going through literally every cornrow video on UA-cam I think this was the IT video for me., I just cornrowed my little sisters hair and I can gladly say that it is presentable I was soo pumped to see that I got the hang of it. I'm not perfect yet but I did it and I'm super excited to do more cornrows for myself and family members in the future😍🤩🤩

Thank you so much! My husband has coily hair and it gets caught in his hard hat at work. Your video is the only one that was so clear and positioned perfectly so that I could really see what you were doing. I also love how able you were to describe what you were going to do and what you were doing while doing it. The tips you added in were so helpful and wonderful! I didn't do great and they aren't pretty but because of your video I was able to braid my husbands hair into 6 sections so that he can be more comfortable at work.
As a dad with a 5 year old, im about to seriously get a mannequin and start practicing this. My daughter wont have the patience for me to keep trying in her huge head of hair. Awesome video 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I am so excited that I just cornrowed my daughters hair while watching this video. I was doing it reversed before and ending up with inverted looking braids. I love your other videos and I came across this one and said ‘oh, she braids really well I should watch it’ With practice, I will finally be able to do lasting styles. Thank you so much.
I'm actually he're to thank you Exactly one year ago I knew nothing about cornrows but now I can even make my own hair Thank you so much, you're an amazing teacher. God bless you
Wow, your video is the only1 that I have ever seen with excellent instruction, no rushing. You had all my attention. Very cool to see and hear your details. Fantastic I enjoyed watching. Thanks for sharing!
This is the absolute BEST braiding video I have come across where you really show the detail. Unfortunately, I braid with a different finger placement, but it's more difficult and takes longer. This really helped! Thanks so much!

Her hair is mid-back now but shrinkage is a beast so it usually hangs just past her shoulders in braids.
Notthecoolmom broken comb.. Just caught me off guard 😂😂
I said the same thing! Any legitimate braider has had an old faithful comb that seems to get better as the teeth break! Lol
It's not a broken comb. It's a parting comb lol
Notthecoolmom h
im sitting here crying at that broken comb comment, since i pause the video to start looking for comments like that lmaooo! ok now, back to the video. lolllll I cant!
God bless you
You’re such a sweet human, I’m sure she loved them ❤️💕
Thats sweet. Hope her hair looked lovely
How did it turn out? Have you done her hair since?
wow queen may the gods bless you eternally
She was the first one who started the gap in the comb. Everybody else followed suit. You're the GOAT when it comes to technique and braids. Been watching you since 2015.
This is so helpful!
I’m a white 14 year old learning how to do this for my 8 year old black cousin and she always tries to explain it too me but honestly this video has taught me perfectly!
That’s so sweet 🥺
@@kysalenay thankyou! I do try to help her and living with her these past couple of years has taught me to appreciate even more the efforts black people have to go through with doing their hair! People really need to understand their efforts a lot more
How refreshing to see a video..of natural hair and it's beauty. ..
good in you girl. ...teach the black women how to appreciate what they have.....

I hope mine comes out good for him ❤
I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to show how exactl you do cornrows. I am more confident now that I can do my child's hair. THANK YOU!
K Slat great
K Slat bjhhhuhy
same here ❤ still wondering how to do the top though 😔
Kat Slat where I'm from (The Bahamas) literally everybody in my school even in the seventh grade knew how to row (that's what we call it down here) and I always felt kinda embarrassed when I would say that I don't know how. But a few weeks ago my friend taught me how but it wasn't coming out neat and I didn't like the look, so I came to this video and I got better now I'm going to keep practicing to get better and neater.
So people can dislike a video on how to braid hair......ok😐
Prob salty cause they couldn't do it. People will dislike anything.
Preach!!!
Kaili Ayyy I swear. Jealous ass bitter ppl. Smh 💯💯
Kaili Ayyy lol
I was thinking the same thing it doesn't ,are any sense
My mama plus this video helped me. Now I can finally braid my own child’s hair without depending on others 🙌🏾
Her: *starts braiding very fast at expert skill level*
Me: I can't do that
LOL! it took me almost an hour to braid my daughters hair. i was thinking maybe bcuz shes only almost 2 yrs. but then i realized...nope...i just suck :(

Her hair is really thick and healthy. I could watch this video 10 times and still screw it up. lol
same! 😢
agreed 😞
I am going to do Riama now, at 12????
AJ Writer if i were to watch this 10 times I would still drool over the thickness of this hair!
lol right!!
After 6 years of braiding single braids and watching UA-cam tutorials on how to conrow I finally learned because of this video. Thank you so much, you explained it so well. I am so proud of myself .
Idk why but whenever people are parting their hair, I find it very satisfying, especially when the hair has been detangled.
It’s feels so good to me when hairstylist part my hair especially in the middle . It’s heavenly lol

It's okay, you're not alone
Same bro. I'm 24. Learned how to manage my hair on my own starting when I was 18, but I'm still learning. Still don't know how to cornrow😂
Tiffany M. Nobles literally same
as a left handed person this type of cornrowing took me a really long time to grasp. my hands were braiding in the wrong direction. with lots of practice i finally got it. thanks for this tutorial
Me too. It took a lot of practice. Lefties have it hard haha
I feel your pain lol
I agree
Right. But us lefties will get it
Carol Moore yes cause I am left handed and I got it also 💯
This video is so old and yet it is still teaching people like me to braid!! I successfully did a full head of cornrows on my 7yr old tonight!! First time ever. This is a great tutorial!! I watched several before finding this one and this was the winner!! Thank you for teaching us🥰
I've just watched several videos on how to corn row and I have to say by far yours is the best . Thank you.
why is no one talking about how relaxing her voice is omg
because we're all struggling on how to do this. LOL, well, I am at least but yes, her voice is incredibly calming.
Seriously she can come to my house to have coffee or do my hair anytime.
her voice sounds like my moms i love it
She is forming it,I think
Right, she makes me wanna keep trying too. She's bomb!
I can't believe I've been doing cornrows the wrong way until today. Thank you so much sis. This what we call tutorial 👌👌👌
I FINALLY LEARNED HOW TO CORNROW MY HAIR!!!! Thank you so much for this video. My cornrows are a little jagged and uneven but my hair is braided down and my hair looks great!
Oh hi fellow weeb!

Ayo how do you braid your own cornrows if you can’t see it in the back? Teach me I’m tryna learn how to do that
@@brendanmoll4799 imma be real with you... I don't care about the back as long as it's secure. 🤣🤣🤣
I usually just crochet over the back, anyways.
Great
I just learnt it... Wish I could show you my work... I honestly got better as I went and it was obvious. Now I'm doing it without a mirror... All in just 20 minutes... Thank you so much. You're a true angel

Thank you! I've been wearing my hair super short for years and now I'm getting my hair done in crochet. Next step is learning how to braid so I can do my own crochet. You're a good teacher.... calming my nerves reassuring me I'll get better with time.❤
It took me a few tries, but after about half hour I finally got it! Thanks, the video helped a lot! Now I will practice to make it more neat.

Thank you for this tutorial… ❤ I’m a single father I want to start braiding my daughters hair save money
Thank you so much for this video! I FINALLY figured out what I was doing wrong. I was adding pieces of hair to the left and right sections as I went, instead of the middle section! I did my first successful cornrow and I want to shout with joy!!

I love your other videos and I came across this one and said ‘oh, she braids really well I should watch it’

Wow, your video is the only1 that I have ever seen with excellent instruction, no rushing. You had all my attention. Very cool to see and hear your details. Fantastic I enjoyed watching. Thanks for sharing!
Cornrows and box braids are so beautiful, especially when done by someone with your level of expertise!
This is the absolute BEST braiding video I have come across where you really show the detail. Unfortunately, I braid with a different finger placement, but it's more difficult and takes longer. This really helped! Thanks so much!
