I'm Rod Saunders, founder of Jew and Greek. I’m a musician, web developer, and a student of philosophy and economics. I recently published my first book on Amazon entitled Defending the Faith: Word of Faith Apologetics. It’s a response to the numerous charges against and misrepresentations of the Word of Faith movement and theology. I also have a CD of original music on CD Baby entitled Gates of Pearl. “Jew and Greek” is a good name because the two civilizations that influenced Western civilization the most were those of the Judeo-Christian and Greek worlds. From the Jews we received our values and a monotheistic theology, and from the Greeks we got philosophy which brought us science, sports, the arts, democracy, and economics. I’ve also heard it stated that the platonic thought of Augustine put the western church on the path of scholasticism and then the Aristotelian thought of Aquinas sealed its fate. Many in the west forget that there is a whole other Christian tradition that came out of the east which is much more organic and holistic. And would submit more biblical. Augustine’s view on original sin is where things went sideways he got Romans 5:12 wrong. Most Protestants and evangelicals in the west are just a subset of Rome to some degree or another weather they realize it or not.

I’ve heard it stated that Jesus and the apostles used the Greek Septuagint when quoting the Old Testament. Is this true?
