So, Brazilians broke the record... in a good way.

It likely brought in economic value to Rio and Brazil that is well over the 12 million she was paid (if she was indeed paid) due to the multiplier effect of 1.6 million people coming into Rio and spending money on hotel accommodation, food, merchandise, and everything else - a bonanza for local businesses, local workers and the local economy as a whole. So why complain?

Your comment has proved your illiteracy on indigenous tribes in Brazil. Many indigenous reserves are kept by the federal government especially in the region where you live. My family is mixed race with white German and indigenous in Brazil. Just like in USA and Canada, the tribes are under secret maintance by the Federal power but the media headline only the Amazon rainforest as the only part of Brazil keeping tribes as reserve.

The show was paid for by one of Brazil's biggest bank (Itau)+ a beer brand + Globo TV + US$ 2 million dollars from the city of Rio. On the other hand, the revenues generated by the show were more than enough to compensate public cost. It was a wonderful show!

I don't properly know Madonna's career, only a few things, but this concert for sure showed me how great and powerful she is. As well she also showed to the world more of Brazil's greatness, and for that I'm really thankful. I love my country and it's really good to see it being recognized

As a Brazilian I must say that was a beautiful gift to Rio de Janeiro’s people that make the concert a real party and enjoy to the most.
When a country and the world go through so much like a pandemic and a war, the people needs an warm hug and having fun is like be invited to a party, in this case Madonna’s party. It’s was awesome !
Check it out Rolling Stones in Rio, Copacabana beach. They did the same impact and unbelievable number of crowd.

Incredible! Loved seeing the concert in NYC ❤ I attended the fireworks at the Copacabana beach, and the energy of the people was electric, so I can only imagine how fabulous this concert was:
What a moment. She reminded us all why she is the Queen of Pop. It was such a cathartic and historic event, people anticipated it so much and she delivered everything and more. I’ve seen performances on that beach but this time people were crying, laughing, holding each other, and plus everything that she represents, it was entertaining, provocative, well thought out, it pissed off the conservatives, she paid homage to Brazil, people from all over the country showed up, they were chanting her songs, dressing up like her, it was Madonna’s carnival, I could go on and on.
They really put two queens in charge of commenting this news, feels correct. The joy from everybody is contagious.

However, I do doubt that Taylor would get as big of a crowd, and that's not because she isn't popular or talented, it's because she hasn't had as long a career. Most people over, say, 25, probably don't really like her music very much. Madonna's career spans generations... young kids are discovering her music and older fans might be up to their 60s or so. IF Taylor lasts as long as Madonna, then yes, possibly she's break records... but her career hasn't been as long and significant as Madonna's, and that's no shade.

His words almost made me cry. I was there and it was that, just magical. I was lucky enough to watch it from the VIP area and see the emotion and excitement on her face.

The concert was free to attend but not free of cost. She was paid $3.3 million dollars. The concert was paid by Itau bank in celebration for the bank's 100 aniversary!
Itau is private and Setubals are free to dump theyr money. The municipality, on the other hand, dumped other 3.3 million dolars stolen from the people through taxes.
Why wouldn't Madonna get paid? How ridiculous. And it's not like Madonna hasn't donated millions to charities all over the world, or been an outspoken advocate for minority communities that has made a huge difference in social justice. In her personal life, she adopted four children who were orphaned or poor and sick to give them a better life than they could have ever dreamed of.

I live in Rio and the reporter is exaggerating a bit. He is talking about Copacabana Beach as if it was the entire city. Most of people werent excited since there is a massive flood with many people dieing happening for days. No time to party for those who can have some empathy.
