- More than one and a half million fans filled Rio de Janiero's Copacabana beach for Madonna's biggest ever gig. This was her final performance of her seven month long Celebrations tour.
Madonna's website said it was the biggest she had ever done - more than 10 times the 130,000 she played to in Paris in 1987.

The main critics is that at least 1/3 of the used money to pay her was public while people are.dying in a massive flood in other part of the country. The federal government was more concerned with the concert that was a political demonstration.

That's not the problem, the real reason is that they simply don't like Madonna and her fans and found this dishonest excuse to make their criticism seem valid.

I’m not shading Taylor, but I don’t think she would get that crowd in Rio. She’s not as well known in SA as she is in the US and Europe and she hasn’t had as long a career. Most people over 25 don’t like her music or know it very well. Madonna has been around for 40+ years… as she gains new younger fans she still has fans who are now in the 50s and 60s. Taylor is very popular, but she doesn’t have cross-generational appeal. That’s no shade to her… if she’s around for as long as Madonna I’m sure she could get massive crowds.
