My old man has a '64 shortbed with push button trans, 318, and it was painted a salmon pink from the factory. There's not another one like it in the world.
Beautiful I had 1966 Dodge D200 4by4 with a grandma 4 speed at 55 the build in tack was at 4 grand . I could pull a house down justice turn the locking hubs and go . In the winter of 1978 it's was hit by a plow truck in the front right they scrap its . I'm 67 years old I live in northern Indiana all my life. I love you video be safe man.
Love those old Dodge trucks! My grandfather had a '67 D200 that he'd bought new... Looked exactly like this one (without the fancy body moulding, but with a padded dash bumper pad). It had more miles running in the hay field than it did on the road; and that's the truck I got my driver's license with! I later had a '69 W200 Powerwagon that I wished I still had today! Currently driving a 2001 Dodge-Cummins 2500.
Just came across this video and had to watch it as I have recently acquired a ‘66 D200 in sea foam green and a slant six, 4 speed on the floor. Got it running. Just need to work on the brakes and it will be road worthy. No intention of repairing the rust and all. I want to keep it kind of rough and just drive the old thing. Thanks for the inspiration. Great job!
thanks. thats what i did with this one.. I replaced the master cylinders.. mine has two.. one for the hydraulic clutch too.. I had to replace the windshield and I put a carpet in it.. but I'm thinking I'll swap that out.. for a 3/4 ton farm truck..a rubber mat seems more appropriate. I'd love to see your truck if you have pictures.. my email is coatesgrafting@gmail.com are you gonna clear coat it?
I lean toward GM trucks when it comes to new(er) ones, but once they get as old as this Dodge, well you gotta like it (same goes for an older Ford.) Thanks, Ken. I think it's perfect just the way you did it.
I strongly believe in your quote ''If we all did the same things restoring these old vehicles, the world would be boring.'' I love seeing what people can come up with when they add their creativity to a project. That old girl looks great!
Just saw the Diamond truck vidio again . old truck just grows on you. those old 318 engines ran well for a long time! My never meat you but love your music and your rat rods.
everyone tells me those were good engines.. this one sure runs good... I've been saying the exact same thing! I was planning to flip that truck but man.. its starting to grow on me.. "like a wart" ! hahaha.. thanks so much for the kind words.. sure appreciate you watching..
WOW fantastic to see an ole Dojayeeeee brought back to life...beautiful end result and like you said about restoration.....what you ehnded up with was a great idea!! More ketchin up to do......See yaaa.
Looks great. First thing I thought when you showed it was ...clear coat that thing. It's earned them spots. Only thing it needs is an eight ball shifter knob. nice job. Always enjoy your videos and usually learn little something.
that brings back a lot of memories...we used to log in the mountains of colorado..we had various old dodge trucks...the dodge power wagon was known as the roughest riding pickup of any....but they were tough...nice rescue....
Man, I really dig these "ancient" classic, vintage trucks. Boy, that's 1 groovy 1965 2nd series light blue pickup truck. I wonder if it's a d-100 1/2 ton or a d-200 3/4 ton truck. Anyway, I've got a 1969 Dodge camper special pickup truck that's tan with white top, regular cab 2 door, 128"wheel base, 318 v-8 177 horsepower motor, sweptside with an 8' bed box, 2 wheel drive with 3 speed auto transmission. It has a 1969 11' self contained grayish silver Avion c-11 overhead camper. I bought the truck in Oklahoma on Mar. 2016 & the camper in Colorado on Jul. 2016. Then I drove it back to Corpus Christi in south Texas. It was an adventure miracle journey round trip.
Heck yeah Ken, ya done that one real good. I'd drive that one with smiles. That ole wide block 318 sounds really good too. Always nice to see a old work truck fixed up and ready to work again. Good job!
I've watched this video about 4 times! Really well done. Driving across the country in a couple days to pick up my first Sweptline and the "patina" look is exactly what I'll be going for. Thanks!
Best of luck! I'd like to see pictures or better yet.. driving across country to pick up your sweptline would make an awesome video!! have you considered that?
just got done watching your video on your 63 Impala sweet car my brother in law had a 63 Impala 327 4 speed it was a clean car 63 was a good looking year to.
yeah, i always liked the body lines of the 63.. mine would be worth more if it were a factory 4 spd. its not really a show car but still.. a nice little driver. im blessed to have it
Well sir you just never cease to amaze me with the old iron you find and get to put back on the road. I love everything you did to that old 65 D200 Dodge truck. Besides when you fix them up the way you want it wouldn't be any fun to make it another cookie cutter truck. It shows your talent. 1 1/2 thumbs up Id give you 2 thumbs but i only have 1 1/2 lol
That's a sweet old truck. @4:24 1972 was the last year for left hand thread on the driver's side lug nuts. Ma Mopar made a lot of changes to cut costs and save money on the 1973 models. They needed every penny they could save to build the prototype for a new tank that the Army didn't know they needed yet. It was adopted as the M1 Abrams....
Man I love this truck and how you got it going! I have a 68 that I can’t wait to get running. I’d like to do it the same way you did yours… I’ll post it on my channel as well. Thank you for the motivation Ken. Kevin
Wow there is a ton of old iron out there I wish I could just walk out the back door like you do and find these rusty jems. Great job on the Dodge and I look forward to seeing what else you do to it.
yes, its everywhere around here.. and because of the very arid climate and no salt on the roads.. they just last forever..pretty much rust free other than just a little surface rust. thanks for watching! :)
Ken , I have to say , I am proud of you ! . you certainly did restore this Truck . Inside & Out . I really like what you did to it . the Emblems , clear coat , and the interior looks amazing . I love it . that's a $10.000 Truck if I ever saw one . ... Ray in Pa.
Hey that 65 came out nice keep up the videos with dodges I have a 66 D100 Stepside I picked up for 20 bucks can't wait to get it finished it keep up the good work man I'll keep watching
Hats off Ken. You've done her up real nice. Reliable set of fun, classic wheels that's not afraid of a little work. Kens Bluish Diamond! Chuck in Kansas
An electronic ignition distributor from a 1975 318 will drop right in. Then you can use it to trigger a GM hei module and coil. You might consider bypassing the amp meter. They have a habit of burning up in the dash or the high current melts the bulkhead connector. That's a solid old truck and that poly 318 is one of the best ever built for reliability.

Good luck!

I have always been a Ford guy but I love seeing old trucks getting revitalized. Yes you can never have too many rigs. Great job.
that brings back a lot of memories...we used to log in the mountains of colorado..we had various old dodge trucks...the dodge power wagon was known as the roughest riding pickup of any....but they were tough...nice rescue....
thanks for stopping by!
I like it Ken. Glad you were able to save the old girl. You really don't see too many of these.
Wonderful to see it road worthy instead of sitting and left to rot away. Great Job!

I think it looks better the way you did it than how someone else would have restored it. Good job!
