My first car was a Buick skylark. The headliner was a fabric that the glue disintegrated like the way you were sounded. But it was a lot easier than what you got because it had a cardboard or thin wood liner that I had to just scrape all the old glue off and glue new fabric on. I used something that looked like a black leather and it looked pretty good when it was done.
Hi, Great work! what did you use to replace the white sticky adhesive to seal metal to metal? mine is all dirty and I don't want to re-use it. I been thinking about weatherstrip adhesive or even something like plumbers putty. The sunroof it was all rusted so I remove it, cleaned the rust and I'm in the process to re-assembly. Also, where did you get the headliner cloth? I found a similar one, color 2293 from a "wls" store although they're out of stock. I have a 1984 733i bmw.
im not sure what you mean by the metal to metal. You can buy the sunroof gasket still so I bought a replacement it fits in tight and does not require any glue. I bought the headliner material at Joanne fabric. its the same color as the original but not the same fabric. I used the same fabric as the headliner for the sunroof headliner.

That would have been a lot easier for sure.
Good job. Thanks for the video

Thanks!
definitely one of the more intimidating jobs to tackle on a e23, but glad you did it so some of us have at least some reference of what's involved.
Yeah. It’s not hard to do once you get everything out.

my e23 has a broken slider arm, any idea how I'd go about unclipping those front tabs if it can't slide back?
👍
Thanks!
