the same arbiter 5 years later: I calculated it wrong, you are not an IM
haahaha
His friend was sick that day. So he had to stand in as arbiter for his buddy even though he was only a C student in high school mathematics. To his great surprise... he calculated wrong. But he was still glad that he got to touch one of players during their game. And that's what he told his friend over a beer that following weekend.
I'm sorry. I'm just a really dumb aspiring writer.
I wonder if the arbiter's initial calculation was for a GM norm, assuming Levy was already an IM
@@jamestrojnor-barron5075 whats dumb about that?
Levy: Beats all the 2.600 guys in crazy style and doesn't show any respect to them.
Also Levy: Loses against some random guy, who probably just showed up to have a beer.
The random guy was the Rocky of chess. Expected to lose but once you punch someone in the face the game plan they had went out the window.
He was looking for the bar but found the library...
bruh
That random guy has a high score of 51 in 3 min puzzle rush.
Of course, that random guy was Max Deutsch

Can we just acknowledge how impressive it is that Levy can record a full 30+ minute video with no cuts
This bloke's talented
I think it's because he's a streamer, whereas a random youtuber would've had a harder time speaking for so long, but yeah pretty impressive
@@9DarkAngelx also bc he teaches chess, he's pretty good at speaking for a long time
He is well prepared
@Bot AtChess maybe no one mentioned that because this isn’t agadmator’s channel?

I appreciate every second of your video because, you don’t have any filter when you show up in your streams or videos, its just you showing your love for chess. This was very emotionally touching for a video about chess.
It's interesting that The Queen's Gambit story writers didn't look into Gotham's life for beautiful and tense thrilling stories

I genuinely enjoyed Levy's excitement and storytelling more than the games. I love the passion this man brings to his UA-cam channel, keep it up :)
I love how you just yada yada the most crucial game of the tournament.
This video resonated with me. I obviously never played at anything approaching your level, but I had a similar experience at a local open tournament when I was in high school. The highs of early victories, the lows of mistakes costing me later games, the mindset of having to be aggressive late to get my desired finish and then backing into a 3rd place finish with a draw. You're a wonderful storyteller. Thank you for this.
It's so cool to see you going through your games with such pride and passion. All success to you Levy
I loved this video. It was so cool to see the ideas of the games and the stories behind them. The thing I want to know for future video is how you originally got into chess and the story of your beginnings.
Levy this video is amazing and your enthusiasm is infectious. Would love to see more tournament stories like this.
My god, this was a gripping video, was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Love how much passion you have when you're talking about games you actually played.
I would have never thought a 36 min chess video would be so entertaining! Great job!
A few hours ago I won against my uncle, he is a 1900 rated player, he used to be 2100. He is very experienced and good at chess, I am a 1400ish player and I won by playing aggressive, my das Heard me shouting JA! (German for yes) because I was happy to win. My uncle even asked me if I was using Stockfish at some point, this is one of the best days of my life, this video showed me that chess is just beautiful. ♟
Chess is without a doubt one of the best games ever invented bro, great job at beating a 1900 rated player!
Your videos have been a daily upper for me and have made me love chess on a whole new level. I just got your d4 and e4 courses and I am so excited to study them and get better. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for sharing, I really enjoy when you go over your previous games.
You're such an inspirational chess player and you don't give yourself enough credit Levy :))
I don’t really like chess that much, had a great rising and falling out with the game, but god damn I love the way you tell stories, Levy.
Literally the only 30min+ video on yt I watched without skipping a second of it. Levy is just doing great work showing a chess game and commentating it like a football match.
I have watched a lot of chess commentary but you are by far the most engaging story teller I have seen. 30 minutes didn't even feel like 10 minutes. A very exiting listen!
The last time I was this early

Hello Levy. What a wonderful "Chess story" (from the title).
I think Gotham Chess is the best channel for those who want to learn serious chess so I think you should make a video about middle games as whenever I play, I am good in development and positioning but there is always a point where I just don't know what to do and I start replying to my opponent's moves. If possible please try explaining it in one of your videos. (or please explain outposts as my brother wants to learn that)
Thank you a lot and good luck.
yeah I think when you start replying to your opponent's moves it's becoming bad and you should always try to counterattack or create some kind of threats and avoid being passive, even if it's easier said than done :)
Hey levi, it was great to see your journey in this tournament. Please upload content like this in which the more higher rated players can enjoy more. Hoping to witness your competitive sude more! Huge fan✌🏼
Your passion for your job makes me cry, Levy. Thank for all the work you put in your contents.
