      Which happened in the chess for ants video on Hikaru's channel. Levy was asked if he was still trying for GM or retired, and Levy said he retired.
      The kid on the other hand is a rising chess prodigy who became IM at 14, the chances that he is done growing in the game are very small. He didn't retire, he has barely begun.

    not only was this one of the most entertaining and best games levy has shown, it's also probably the biggest emotional rollercoaster out of all of them. 2 games in this tournament where levy has played Ng5!?, the rozman gambit, and this one almost got jinxed by it

    If i had a nickel for everytime levy has thrown a game with the white pieces against a stronger player in this tournament by hanging his knight on g5 allowing it to be taken with a pawn, i would have two nickels. which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice

    Another one for the pile: These recaps are some of the best chess content available. To me it is much better than an overview of what lines could be played, or who played what and why it's good.
    The fact that you played those games so recently allows you to accurately convey the mindset you were in, the elements you considered, what you missed and didn't miss mentally. How far along a certain position you considered.
    It's a much more educational way of reviewing a game, because it's much more real!
    You're doing great!

      I think making the recaps might be really good for his game as well. Teaching and demonstrating knowledge I think uses very different parts of the brain to self study. It's like reading a speech versus reciting a speech. You internalize the same information differently.

    This game is legitimately a master piece. I honestly have the feeling that if Levy stops paying attentions to bad thoughts like: “I am going to loose this! I am nervous” and so on, and instead chooses the right thoughts to win, he will just sky rocket as a player. There is a reason why Hikaru said that Levy could be GM.

      Exactly! In the games he lost, he noted everytime that it was more of a psychological and stamina problem than a chess one. Levy's still relatively young and at the peak of his mental prowess. If he wants and tries, he could definitely nail it over the next 5-6 years

    where a pro player goes through his thought process of the games he has played in a tournament.

      It's so incredibly interesting, possibly even more than if a super GM were to do it even though I'd love to see that as well. I can follow the thought process well while being very impressed. Also the internal mental battle is easily relatable.

      Yeah this is the worse,there's one time I sacrificed my two rooks for a nice smothered mate, I found this pattern immediately because I solved a puzzle that is similar to the position in the game,I'm about to execute it but I mislip a move with my queen and I blundered it,it was 3min game btw

      I was in a tournament, my first tournament, was battling the 2 leadingvthe tournament, lost on time against the first on a winning position and blundered a pawn in the endgame in the second, still i got 6th place with 6/9 points

      Hikaru will have to admit that the rest of the game was played perfectly. Literally, in 10+ positions if he didn’t play the only move here would have been lost or drawing. Hikaru clild eternally shame Ng5 though. Imagine if it worked, truly would be Levy’s greatest game ever.

    These Semislav structures were very well explained in Sam Shanland's course on the Semislav. He discusses how to know where to place the rooks.
    He also keeps repeating how it is important NOT to maroon your bishop on a3 with c5 in any semislav structure. This was a great example of his point!

    That was quite a wild game.
    It's interesting to see the kind of blunders that chess masters make. They are still blunders, but they are so much subtler and deeper than what happens at the lower ranks.

    Beautiful game despite the one blunder. In fact, the one blunder and comeback with the brilliant double rook sacrifice was awesome. He didn't move that dark squared bishop at all after that pawn sac.

    Watching the ups and downs of this tournament has been fascinating. It feels like most of the time Levy does know the best moves and it's when his nerves gets to him and he plays something else that things go downhill.
    But Levy when you have confidence in yourself you play an amazing game and I've seen the slow progression towards regaining that confidence in this tournament.
    Keep it up!

    The best chess series I've seen on UA-cam, I'm watching every second, , you should officially call it the Road to GM, because that's what it is. This is a great concept for content, I think more creators will start doing it. The best decision you took was to get out to retirement, congrats Levvy.

    This is way better than a normal analysis because there's a narrative. You take us on the journey you went through in your mind! Far more interesting than just going over moves and variations. Probably less educational than a traditional analysis, but I think this is the kind of content that can get people excited to play chess.

    Everything about that game was perfect. You played all of your opening ideas perfectly, caught on to good ideas to make forward progress, and punished your opponent for their inaccuracies. Also your bishop pair was awesome. Besides from your blunder, perfect game.
