Gosh it was scary. And it was such a lovely town - shame that the weather was so bad! Hope you’re not too cold - the weather looks dreadful in the UK. Stay safe and well. 👍
Hello Dave and Sue, nice to see your journey, lovely walk around the village, wow that weather was horrendous, the rain sounds so heavy. Take care and stay safe x Julie and Tony x
Hi Julie and Tony. Hope you guys are doing well. The weather was crazy! The wind was the worst in the night. Woke us up - we thought that the van was going over! Sorry we haven’t watched the latest vids. We’re really struggling with data and wifi connections here. It’s very frustrating as we’ve just arrived at a big site and we still can’t get on the internet. 🤦🏻♂️. So will catch up asap 👍👍👍
It was crazy but it was the wind that was really scary. Honestly thought that the van was going over!! Congrats on the new van you two. So exciting. We are trying to get on to wifi currently. Been a bit of a nightmare since we’ve been over here. So we will watch asap when we get some connection and data.
Hi Graham. Thanks very much. We’ve had an incredible trip so far. We just wondered if we up up to it and it’s been tiring but ok. Ha. Those steps were crazy. You wouldn’t get them in the UK like that Each step was slanting down and so if they were icy they would be lethal! But such a beautiful little town! Thanks again hope you’re having a good weekend.
Hi guys that weather was so bad but think we got it worse here !! Not pleasant in the van when it’s stormy though - at least your in Spain now lovely and warm 😍 safe travels - Deb’s and Mark xxx
Thank you guys. It was a crazy night but we’re so lucky to be on this trip and the kids have said how bad it is back home! We are both a bit shattered but at least we made it. Next time I think we will probably try to get here quicker and stopover less You stay safe both
👍 #176 Hi Dave and Sue, weird limited travel time for a Sunday. That mountain road drive looked semi spooky but with great views. Everything closed and nobody about at all... Sundays used to be more like that here too. Great weather for Ducks!!! Always interesting to see how things are going on your European Extravaganza! lol 👍◕‿◕
🤣🤣. I thought I had sorted it Dave mate. It doesn’t work (I can’t get it to work) 🤣. The Orange help desk is a bot speaking French very very fast. Far too fast for Google translate And now we’re on a site where we’ve paid 10 euros for their wifi and we still can’t get it to work. Might just give up!! 🤣
Hey Dale. Hope you guys are well. This was a crazy night. Far worse than we’ve experienced anywhere! We were pretty worried at 2am that the van was going over. But all fine and we’ve made it down to Spain. Another amazing adventure. Wish we had done this years ago!!
@NBNatureTrailvan we're both doing better today than we were earlier this week when we were both under the weather. Glad to hear you made it to Spain. Hope your 2025 is going great so far. Take care! We'll be watching!
I didn't know about lorries on a Sunday - That's worth knowing - thanks. Think you could do a whole series on the "search for Sim cards" lol. Shame about the rain
Oh it’s been the most frustrating bit of the trip. Chris. I’ve now got three SIM cards. All work on the phone. I’ve given up worrying as we’re in a site with decent wifi. 😃 Yes the lorry thing is interesting. We did see a handful on the road. Maybe they had a dispensation of some sort.
Happy Friday Dave and Sue. Today you are in a place with better weather (hopefully) and are ready for a grand weekend in the south! I must say that I have never seen you so tired as you were in the morning Dave, so I think it must have been a really rough night for you with the rain and wind. The Ardeche is a place with a lot of beauty, but being up in the mountains means that you can get strong wind and you had it! I just wonder how big the waves on the river was that night? I have never seen really big waves on a river, so that was a first for me:) And also congratulations on the speed you are gaining new subscribers at the moment. You are speeding up and soon you will be the guest speakers at a convention:) So have a nice weekend and do enjoy life! All the best, Ant
Well you’re right Ant. I’ve been especially tired through a lot of this trip. I think that maybe next time we will stop less and travel for longer. So have less set up and prep time (maybe) We’ve done 1408 miles as of today and finally landed near Alicante. And it’s very beautiful. And warm! The River Rhone is famous for the Mistral - I had learned about as a kid but here we were experiencing it in person. It was wild and the waves were maybe five to six feet high. It was crazy!! The van was being blown around on the road - worst we’ve experienced! The subs thing is weird isn’t it. I just don’t understand how it works and it seems nor does anyone else So we just keep enjoying life until til we can’t! Have a wonderful weekend Arild my friend.
@NBNatureTrailvan You have done a long journey towards the south, but hopefully you can have some relaxed days now with better weather! I can imagine how tiring it is to drive and travel in rough, windy weather. Up here there are a number of accidents each winter when RVs literally are blown off the road by strong winds while driving on slippery roads (so chains are a good idea and not driving in a snow gale an even better idea:) Incidentally my old parents arrived in Alicante just a few days ago, but they flew in😂 Have a good weekend and live the good life!
Wow! You must have been shatterered after a night like that!! I'm still keen to go to the Ardesche - but you nearly put me off haha! I think that you could rename your vlogs as being "SIM Card Adventures around Europe" as both trips have featured SIM card searches! Enjoy the trip!
That was a really rough night Robin. Worst wind we’ve experienced overnight. Glad we made it further South that day. But the Ardeche looks wonderful. Reminded a little of the Lakes. We learned that we need to do a couple of nights stays to be able to appreciate a town or an area. Don’t start me on SIM cards 🤣. The Orange one I have still isn’t working and the help desk is a bot speaking in French overdrive We’re on an intermittent wifi on our site here in Spain at the moment but off to Alicante to get a Spanish sim 😃 The way I’m going, I’m going to have one Sim for every day of the week 🤦🏻♂️
Hi there I’ve not been down that road to Lyon for about 10 years but on the green zone app it says something about eco lanes on the a7 to the north and a6 to the south. Regards nick
Hi Nick. They do have a Green zone - it activates at certain times when the air quality is low. The city sits in the hills which means a smog develops sometimes. At those times many vehicle types are restricted. We do though have the Crit air certificate which you need in a lot of places in France now - Lyon being one of them. Have a great weekend 👍👍
@hi there. Thanks for response, I’ve been through Lyon loads of times in a truck and I know the green zone but it says something about a red zone in the left hand lanes that only certain vehicles can drive, that’s the bit I don’t understand. You see going down that route to Spain was expensive and as soon as the viaduct was built I started going down the centre of France to Barcelona. Basically I always went to Rouen then Chartres, then orleans or down the n10 to Bordeaux depending which part of Spain I was going. Regards nick
@ ah ok. We’ve been through Lyon a couple of times before but not in the van and many years ago now. I’m going to go back over the footage I took - I don’t remember specific lane info on the road - just the usual no overtaking in certain parts If we do this next year, I think we will do the route you suggest. We’ve already planned to go back that way. 👍 Lyon is beautiful but a bit manic isn’ it. And the winds on the road South were brutal! Cheers for watching and the info Nick 👍
Oh no ! More bad weather. Looks like you got through it though. The Lyon motorway has some amazing views across the city. We have never been caught in traffic there although there was roadworks and it was a bit slow. Looking forward to the Avignon Aire, is it the one we stayed at ? 😃👍🏻🚐 Trev n Sue
I’m sure it was Trev. At Remoulins. Me and Sue have a discussion on the vid as to who we saw here - you guys or Helen and Martin. 😃. My memory is so bad. 🤦🏻♂️ Sue was right that all of you had been there. Yes Lyon is a real experience isn’t it. And we would love to go back to Privas and explore properly - such a beautiful place but the rain and wind was brutal! We nearly just hunkered down and stayed there but were glad we moved on in the end 👍👍
Wow that sounds scary! I’m glad you are both safe and got through the night! Another lovely video, thanks for sharing

Yikes! You will certainly have some memories of this trip!
Oh wow we really will Ian. An amazing trip.
Totally shattered now though!!
Incredible mountain road indeed. Nice place but oooft. Brutal weather 😬
Never been so soaking wet Kev. Really thought the van was going over in the night!!
Almost looks like a Scottish summer without the midges. Glad you have sorted a sim.

@NBNatureTrailvan you too, the weather is so unpredictable.
