I can relate to your vertigo challenges. I find coastal cliffs especially problematic. I think it's due to being able to see the moving sea and sky which is disorienting.
@@StuBar2 sorry you suffer from it too. So many comments on here from others with the same issue. Nice to know we’re not alone. And you make a good point about the sea, hadn’t thought of that ❤️
One other comment, if you’re doing that sort of walking, put two pairs of socks on, it will help you stop having blisters. I learned that walking the West Highland Way in Scotland. 👍
It’s the first video from your channel that I’ve watched, and don’t comment normally on videos but I could see how hard that experience that was for you. I’m a similar age to you and have suffered from fear of heights and fear of falling as long as I can remember. The thing that really resonated with me is when you said about the fear being worse when your girlfriend was close to the edge. I’ve had so many instances when I’ve been out with my wife and children, it’s one thing, when we are high up, and it’s just me, but when they are close the edge of something my legs stop working and the fear is overwhelming. Well done for pushing through and then sharing this video, your girlfriend is obviously really supportive, and I’ll be watching more videos, you both come across as authentic, genuinely nice people.
@@andym85x thanks Andy, such lovely things to say, Jo and I really appreciate it. Nice to know you’re not alone with these issues too. Big love from both of us ❤️
Massive well done for pushing thru and finishing. I too suffer from an irrational fear of falling . I have idea where it's come from but it's now here 😢 and I also understand the fear of others falling. Hi I just subscribed. I had a similar thing happen about 40 years ago, I was at Filey with my then husband and my son who was about 4 years old. I was so bad I couldn't stand up my son was terrified seeing me like that. Some people next to us phoned somewhere and got me airlifted down. The hospital told me it was Vertigo. It was horrible and I've been terrified of heights since, I even couldn't get on my kids bunk bed to make the top bed, I would just freeze and start crying. I was fine before that trip. Hugs xx
Had the same problem in Majorca going over a narrow strip of land with sheer drops either side. Got to the end and burst into tears! On the way back I laid on the floor in the back of the car. 😢😢 Nana Karen UK
Thank you for sharing, it can be scary taking part in things like this. Sometimes rewarding, sometimes a reminder to take it slow when it comes to your fears!
I’m sorry you suffered a panic attack whilst hiking. I have Anxiety too, & a bad panic attack can be absolutely paralyzing. Thx for sharing this. It’s important to talk about these things, & never feel ashamed. Hugs.✌🏻💙
My wife sent me this link. She said - my God, he’s a male version of me! 😂 Louise has a similar aversion to exposed edges - and we both laughed out loud when you said about Jo hanging off edges taking photos and you panicking on her behalf. That is exactly what Louise does when I do it… in fact, she walks off so she doesn’t see me plummet to my death off some Lake District mountain 😂 Thanks for the video, we’ll have a look at your others 🙂
Well done… The more you do the more you’ll feel at home Great video keep it up. I live in North Wales and I’ve always lived in the country when I was younger. Used to love walking the hills. If and when I get my van, this is what I tend to do. Still watching UA-cam videos at the moment to try and convince myself it’s the right thing to do living on my own in my little van fingers crossed
Thank you! Not sure I’m brave enough to do it again, but who knows. Go for the van, the freedom it brings is amazing, as is the community of wonderful people that live vanlife, be it full time or part time 🚐❤️
It must have been awful for you having a panic attack on Snowdon and then again on the coastal path, but it was brilliant that you shared your experience, massive well done for doing both. Being prepared going up Snowdon is essential. Years ago we went up there just for a 'leisurely stroll' and didn't realise how quick the nightfalls, we were so lucky to get down in one piece!! I live in Pembrokeshire and love North Wales, it's a stunningly beautiful area
Very endearing in a way to Share that..I get Anxiety random situations, I did manage to eventually figure out what was happening...but being out and travelling in the van in Cornwall certainly helps...just watched your one vlog...but think ill explore more...😉👌

Well done Guy on posting this up - too many of us guys think that admitting things that have got to them is a weakness but in reality it is a strength - Face your Fears and Live Your Dreams........btw you and Jo have a collection of Dope Snow to rival myself n the wife! lol
Thank you for sharing this ,the last time I tried to walk the coast path in Wales I had a massive panic attack and completely froze on the path I couldn't go forward or back I had to shout for my family who had walked on not realising I was in a state they came back and I had to place myself in the middle of them so I couldn't see the drop and they managed to walk me back to a bit that had shrubs between me and the edge.I haven't been back to the coastal path since and I completely understand how you felt it is terrifying .Well done for getting up Snowden I won't even attempt it.x
I can totally relate - Andy took me on a cliff walk in my manual wheelchair & I never knew that I had an irrational fear of heights when there is no barrier to hide behind. Watergate Bay cliff walk was terrifying shale sliding & I did this all so I could film by overlooking a waterpolo match on the beach. Couldn’t even look down I was terrified & when Andy went near the edge I got worse. If there had been a fence or a railing then I’m fine bizarrely but without I crumble faster than a dodgy digestive. Well done Guy my lovely for still going for it xx
You two are such an inspiration, nothing stops you! Human brains are funny old things at times. Looking forward to seeing you both across the summer ❤️
Thank you for being so honest, nice to know I'm not alone. Love to hike but like yourself fall apart with sheer drops. Hate to accept that fact, and put myself in so many bad experiences. Feel now, its not worth forcing yourself and ultimately not enjoying.
Whilst not liking heights myself had to help a couple of ladies who froze like you close to the top took my mind off the drops so whilst i was helping them they also helped me!🏴
I went walking in Derbyshire up one of the Tors. I had the exact same experience. You don't imagine things like that will happen. For me it was vast open space not the height or I thought. I think it's because you realise there is no where to escape to. I was ok on the way down but it's an experience I won't forget. It won't stop me though I'm heading to Scotland in February 😊
Oh Guy! That must have been terrifying - well done for posting, I'm sure it wasn't easy to edit and relive this 🤍 love the vlog style vid, really enjoyed watching you both 🙏🏼 Hope you guys had the best Christmas ❤️
My wife was 72 at the time she hiked up mount Snowdon and back in Llanberis with our son and grandson. As I am a double amputee I couldn't join her. I was pretty proud of her to say the least.
To share fears.. You've more balls than most... I've done Englands and Scotlands highest they have the most beautiful views and snowdon is next... Clouds at the peak do spin you out a bit as you can't see much, thanks for sharing kudos to you 👍
So brave of you to air this video. Absolutely no shame in having vertigo, I’m an ex army Abseiling & mountain leader & can’t abide heights either - hated it every time, I don’t buy that you can ‘conquer’ a fear of heights but you can deal with it the more you do, gentle steps but don’t force it - if it really isn’t fun…..! Kudos, and Snowden in the clag isn’t much fun (having done it many times!). Really good video which will help many.
Amazing vlog guys but no shame in fearing heights! I do not enjoy heights at all but a couple of years ago I joined my wife on a "desensitisation " course. She was a confirmed arachnophobic but by the end of the course she was holding a range of large , and I mean large, spiders. Part of the course involved hypnotherapy. I was incredibly surprised since this helped with my fear of heights. Keep up the good work. SId and Nicola, Rugby
I know all about panic attacks and feel your pain. I’m claustrophobic and now struggle to even get in a lift. I panic about there not being enough air. Totally irrational but our brains sometimes trick us into believing these things. Glad you worked through it and reached the top of Snowdon. What an achievement! 🎉 🙌 ⛰️ Maybe if you were to go again it would be easier…? Anyway, you did it! :)
To be fair, cliffs and mountains are dangerous enough to always make sure you have a healthy respect for them. I'm not afraid of mountains but i have a dealthly fear of cliffs, for me and for anyone else walking with me, so i fully understand your panic. Taking my kids to tintagel was the worst experience i've ever had, even thinking about it now makes me panicky lol, so i totally get you!
Well done the persevere. I have a mild fear of heights but it seems to manifest itself mostly when crossing tall bridges. It also doesn't help that I drive a high profile vehicle and that I'm living on the road now! Not sure confronting our fears really diminishes them, however....
