- This time, I captured the experience of car camping on a night with temperatures dropping to -10°C, surrounded by snow and ice.It's been two weeks since I started my journey toward the northernmost point. I'm taking my time, making detours, and traveling at my own pace.Will RCC manage to survive the freezing, icy night?

As an American, I am a bit amazed on how the Japanese can build such small vehicles and make use of every bit of space. I also enjoy seeing these kinds of videos on how the Japanese go adventuring outdoors. I never did get a taste for seafood when I was young. I think if I were doing this, I'd make a nice chicken soup. I'd start with some potato and carrots with some chicken breasts and simmer it in some chicken broth... maybe add some scallions for more flavor, too. A couple pieces of biscuit dough would be nice for dumplings. Overall, great video. It was a nice watch to pass the time.

I'm super glad I got to see the return of the clay pot! It's my favorite thing to watch you cook in. That and your rice cooker from college. My two favorite things. Haha, you work so hard to provide for your family and to buy the nice things you want, and we keep coming back to the college rice cooker. Hahaha. Your channel is one of my favorites. If you ever decide to visit Texas, I would be honored to buy you and your wife an adult beverage at a local restaurant here. Then we can be real friends. You know something, I once had a Japanese military member stay at my home back when I was active duty Air Force. He was here to learn English and he learned it very fast. What I remember most, was when he bought something at the store on base and he signed his name on the debit card receipt in Japanese, his writing was so small and perfect, I was like, do all Japanese people have such nice penmanship? I wonder to this day how he is doing. I don't remember his name. It was very long ago. But I do remember him. He was my only real friend from Japan.

This is the first time I've seen someone use a kerosene heater while camping in the snow. I have watched several youtubers who consistently document their journey in extremely cold temperatures and no one has ever used a kerosene heater. Its a really good idea!

An even better heater is an 'FF Heater' that uses the diesel from the vehicle or a separate fuel tank. There is no need to open windows as the exhaust gases from the heater stay outside the vehicle. The only issue would be if enough snow builds up around the vehicle to block the exhaust from escaping under the vehicle. A lot of camping vans here in Japan have FF Heaters in them.

It’s when they are snuggled in and watching TV and eating is my favorite part of these videos and when they have a dog…but it just is so satisfying seeing them having so many of their needs met in this little tiny van.

Hokkaido is just as beautiful in the summer. I love the Onsen up there. I lived 8 yrs in Zamashi, Kanagawa prefecture. I love the snacks, the camp mobile, the snow and this video.

Watching how meticulous you are along with the couple of other Japanese van campers I've watched, I now understand why Japanese machines to include automobiles are so well made. As a people you give attention to detail as if it's a natural extension of your being! You're using the thermal shades backwards in the case of cold temperatures. You want to have the reflective/shiny side facing in towards you and the inside of the van. This ensures that the heat that is produced inside is reflected and kept inside of the van. The way you're using them in the video is if it was sunny and hot outside and you wanted to keep the van cool.
Paramedics put the reflective blanket around the wrong way because they are brain dead lol
You are wrong unfortunately, two different forms of heat from the sun and a heater he was correct
@@spqr2124 Pretty sure that reflectix works by reflecting radiant heat back toward its source, whether that's the sun's heat entering your van or your van's interior heat trying to escape.

Got minus 10c in insulated minivan here too right now. All you need is to man up and good wool blanket. Though 2 could make it more comfortable for you, since women need more heat then men, hence the need for different ratings for sleeping bags. Lovely snow you got!

It was easy to remove the snow at the top of your car . after you park your car put a Blue Seto on the top , and in the morning just pull the blue seto, and all the snow at the top of your car is easily falling . I was doing it when have a camping too in some part of Nagano .

The snow is beautiful but the drive look's dangerous especially if you can't see (never drove in snow ever but touched it) The scenery is gorgeous especially in the mountains. A little trick for the frozen windscreen or frozen doors problem, use antifreeze windscreen washer, pour the liquid slowly over the ice and it will melt away. I always keep a spare container in the car for situation like this during winter time.
Regular antifreeze can damage your paint.
@@MGMidget73 I dont use regular antifreeze solvent but antifreeze windscreen washer made for car. Anyway, I dont let the melted ice sitting still but always brush it off with the rest of the snow.
