I used to work for Scan Computers and it's 5 mins from home. I must of spent thousands in there over the years 😂 Btw, That PC has basically zero exhaust through the top where your CPU cooler fans are pushing out due to the clearance between PC and desk. CPU is gonna get toasty.

13:38 Despite the PC fit perfectly under the desk the ideal is have more room for the fans properly pull the cool air in and push the hot air out. The PC is gonna run quite hot on this tight fit space, specially with a high performance components like the ones used in this build.

They only need to remove the cart underneath the PC. The 850w PSU is under spec in my opinion. I would have gone to 1000w. I foresee troubles. (RTX 4070Ti = 700w T-system power, i9 12900k = 241w Max Turbo Boost. = 941w system PSU )
@@annode its good to consider that probably neither CPU and GPU will work on full load (3D graphics acceleration it's not needed for sound engineering), so this 850w PSU it's pretty enough for the task

Just be careful with the airflow of the PC. There is not enough space between the top of the PC and the desk, so it can overheat this way quickly.
Exactly what I wanted to comment on. It's also called desktop PC for a reason :D
@@MrJemabaris well, it's actually a tower PC, meant to be on the floor, desktop PC's are the smaller ones, horizontal, meant to be on desks, under the monitor.
@@bennyceca nah that's not correct. There are both vertical and horizontal desktop pcs and the tower is a form of desktop pc. Of course it can be placed on the floor too but the original idea was placing them on the desk which is still preferable for airflow and dust accumulation. Either way the thing's gonna suffocate under the table like that.

Put it where you want, tower PC's, especially the large ones should be on the floor. Purchased thousands of PC's via my IT jobs over the years, small horizontal (flat) desktops go on desks, bigger ones (towers) under, for health and safety reasons too believe it not, potential to knock the tower over, seen it happen many times when they reach over the other side to grab something)! Dust will gather, regardless, better to keep it under then on the desk to breath it in.
In the case of Dr Mix, no headroom for his tower PC, I agree that PC will suffer from heat, but only need few inches (5+) of clear space is needed. Not worried for him, give it a year or so, he'll do another video sponsored by Scan.
@@bennyceca I only said that desktop Pcs are not necessarily the horizontal ones that sit under your monitor. Feel free to google the definition of desktop PC. Also if there's a "moot" argument here then it's that they're called desktop to differentiate them from laptops. Desktops have been called desktops long before there were any laptops around. Cheers

It's really cool that you're updaating you're studio, Claudio! I just recently made the first jump to turn my mic/midi-controller setup into more of an actual studio with the centerpiece being the Roland Fantom 8, largely based on your videos! I've wanted one for a while, but seeing you having so much fun with it really sealed the deal for me. Can't wait to get it setup and start making more music of my own!

I am a little worried about the airflow of the pc as the housing in the desk is very narrow...please don't let it die by overheating :)
I was just about to write the same. PC has 3 big exhaust coolers on top with no room to breathe. not mentioning the situation on the back.
it'll be fine. there's ample circulation on the inside and through the back. i've been a computer engineer for more than 20 years lol. also, don't forget the water! 🙂

I wound have figured that if they make desk-units like that, it would have the desk 'integrated' to the unit.

Awesome Video :) You will now have to make a follow on video explaining what equipment you use in your studio, how it is connected up and how you use it, that would be just epic and could be split over several episodes. Stream it, Streeeeeeam. Ohh yes ....even the NT-Toaster is a great streaming "weapon". Love it !! Be careful, there is very little space at the top, which is temp critical for the cpu.
Nice vid and interesting building, but you should put the desk in the center of the room for mixing improvment (avoiding bad reflexions from the right monitor to the wall, etc.)

I see a problem with your setup. Yes, your new PC is water cooled, but the radiator is mounted on the top and the gap between the top of your computer and the table is too small. It probably overheat under heavy work load. You should move the radiator to the front position. Or modify your table.

That... and replace that crappy old switch on the right for something fancy (or at least as nice to look at as the new pc) and get new cat6 cables in a decent color (or colors if you color code them)
It is hard to see how heat circulation on top of the computer is working . Have not found good pictures on home page. Claudio shoulkd take care of any heat problem.

Great video, my only thought is why are you using an nivida card, in an audio pc, there dll’s cause latency, you would be better using an Intell Arc A770 16gig card
