The short answer is, not to the same degree. That doesn't mean it's not a hell of a rum, though, funky by any other measure and - at least from the little experiments I've tried - probably a better mixer too. And even if you can't get Rum Fire proper, especially if you're in Europe there should be tons of unaged Hampden coming from the independent bottlers.
Hi I can get the whole Rum-Bar Line but not Hamilton. I understand that the Hamilton Gold and Black vary due to additional colouring but are otherwise a blend of unaged Worthy Park. It's a white whale at this point because I see so many drinks made with the Hamilton. Could you do this poor European a favour and recommend how you would blend it to approximate the Hamilton? Would Rum-Bar Silver on its own do the job or perhaps a bit of Gold or Overproof as well? Thanking you in advance and thanks for the content.
Well, the Hamiltons might have a slightly different blend but they nose and taste *very* close to the Rum Bar OP for me. What you'd be looking for, aside from the added colorant if you need it, is just a lower proof point - i.e., just mix some water in (insert math here). Or, y'know, keep it as is instead and make your drinks hella strong. :D Good luck!
@@differentspirits4157 Thank you very much for your reply. I'm glad to hear you say that as I felt like the Rum-Bar Silver would need proofing up and that's a bit of an odd thing when I've already got some Rum-Bar Overproof that will likely keep more of the flavour. I did the math and, using ml, if I start off with 45ml of Rum-Bar Overproof, I need 16.45ml to bring it to the 46.5% of the Hamilton. So basically a US 1.5 oz pour and then add 0.5oz of water, pretty simple and I reckon I won't really miss the colouring. That said, it is remarkable how many people see black/caramel and start commenting on how they can 'taste the age'! Thank you very much again for your help :)
😊
😁
Scott, it was great to meet you on Sunday at Beverage Depot. Love your videos. Arun
Indeed! Sorry to be so awkward, I'm not used to folks noticing me from the channel in real life. :D
Ok, I'm convinced.
👍
I'm missing out on Rum Fire in my country, will Rum Bar take me almost there to dundertown?

@@oliverjamesspicer Sure, good luck! (And it's always important to remember how much we're influenced by color.)
the Sonic Youth of rums? I have to get one of these.
probably that '87-'92 period if I had to nail it down
"Funky speed metal thing" So Bad Brains? Yeah, I think I'll pick the P-Funk/Motorhead/Bad Brains over the Sonic Youth :)
So would I, but that doesn't mean we can't have both!
Wray and nephew, "hampden"" and then Rum Bar is also like "hampden?" Which sort of "Hampden?"
I think I meant Hampden Estate's Rum Fire in this context.
these are the Jamaican flag colours, isn't it? Kinda subliminal... "that's Jamaica's national white rum".
It leans into the Jamaican flag even more than Wray and Nephew does!! :D
I hate the smell... the top note is molasses. But very nice flavor
That nose is unique, for sure!
