$700? yes. i just bought the TOS Tomy on ebay for 2k because i can afford that. you won’t see anything like this again for at least ten years and certainly not out of die cast metal. Tomy destroyed the molds for the TOS enterprise and they will for this one too. once it’s out of production you can just wait and wait and wait. or you could spend $160 on the plastic model kit with a $240 light kit, and 100 hours of your time. $700 is a no brainer

I am following this one like a hawk and I am preordering it. I don’t care about screw holes or gaps here or there. I say to the complainers-if you don’t like what you are seeing here-and this is a prototype-then build your own and let the rest of us enjoy the lady of the stars in all her movie glory. To have someone build the Polar Lights 1:350 Enterprise with the iridescent paint scheme and full lighting, it would be 10 times that amount. $700 is a bargain for what you get. Is it as nice as the model can be? No, but you're paying quite a bit less. If you want more inexpensive, brush up on your model skills and build a Polar Lights version.

It turned out amazing and now sits next to my work desk. Total cost was under $200 for a fully lit model with photo etch. Totally worth it, even though it took many months to build.

It would be worth twice the price. The original Matt Jeffries design was incredible, but the refit actually improved on perfection. Will they do a Discovery era Enterprise? That was the only good thing to come out of the Kurtzman-verse.
The Polar Lights is a nice model you have to buy all the upgrades the lights and be somewhat familiar with soldering weathering and painting you have to be a pretty advanced modeler to complete it
Well I view it as, you're paying someone to buy and professionally make a model kit for you. because I do not possess the skills, craftsmenship, or even the time or equipment to make this. The best I can do is cut pieces out of a mold for a model kit but thats where it ends. definitely buying.

You are a grown adult. You don't have to buy for everyone. My family stopped that years ago. But for the kids and that is it. Enjoy your money for yourself sometimes.
Is there high confidence that the nacelles will be straight and true, these seem slightly off with the saucer. Sorry OCD and the bane of most E's I've ever seen.

The Refit Enterprise. The Holes can be covered u, and blend into the ships without noticing them Screws in the Shuttle Pod Docking Ports on Secondary, and Neck. Screw through the Domes on the space section, panels on the nacelle struts.
I’d be interested if it wasn’t diecast. I don’t understand the obsession with making things that are heavy with soft sculpting and poor tolerances. Everything about this model would look better if it was plastic.
Now let me see here, this thing is advertised as the refit & not the "A" version , with that info they got the colour scheme wrong , refit was more green than blue any photo or tech manual will back my claim of the refit I also see here some paint work is missing, "yeah rather keep my money " & get it right .
It’s a prototype in their pictures, but I hear you on the paint and color concern. TOMY notes that it’s being designed “in collaboration with 5 of the most renowned Trek-sperts in the world (Gary Kerr, Karl Tate, Glen Swanson, Matt Cushman, and Mark Myers)” so there’s that. I’m not a Star Trek expert, yet I fully appreciate the paint work is a risk. I don’t think it’ll like a technicolor dreamcoat, but it doesn’t take much for the paint to make it all go wrong.
@@FanboyCantina Just make up your mind on which version it is Refit or the "A" version , it is a shame no one ever did a de commission version on it or them seeing as their is suppose to be twelve of them , true some would be scrapped but not all, they would make a good private cruiser .
@@FanboyCantina They had just as auspicious "collaborations" on the original Enterprise. Unfortunately, their engineering of the ship (seams, plugs, etc) and of the stand were the biggest problems.
@@garywood1973 Refit version. Enterprise A is more gray metal in color than TMP version. ILM Changed it for TWOK because the paint scheme did not work with the blue screen of the time.
After what Tomy promised and failed to deliver on the TOS Enterprise they have no credibility left. I can not understand how anyone would pay them up front having no clue how much they will or will not frack up this one.
Well because the last one is actually a good piece. Seam and plug holes... it still displays excellent and they are not noticeable after a few feet away ..

I was pissed at first about the seams and plugs but realized a diecast piece that big is bound to have some. It's actually an awesome piece and I'm glad I got it and it will last long after we are all dead and buried.. 😂
After the horrible plugs and the flimsy and ugly stand issue on the original Enterprise, not to mention the cheap looking blue nacelle lighting and the odd tilt of this one (as well as the cheap looking shuttle bay), I don't trust Tomy not to mess this one up like they did with their original Enterprise.
The original enterprise looks great. You don't have one so you really can't comment on the quality. The shuttle bay on this one looks like it did in the film. TMP Only shows a tiny bit of it when the worker was floating around it. You obviously are confusing the cargo bay with the shuttle bay...😂😂😂 Also they have already addressed concerns about the stand, paint and lights...they will all be corrected and this is a plastic prototype...😂😂😂
@@Anth230 Actually, I did have one. I sold it because of its GLARING problems - one of which is that I live in LA and so its flimsy base is deadly because of earthquake shaking. As to this shuttlebay, I've not even addressed its accuracy. Just its look. Compared even to TOMY's original Enterprise, this has a slapdash cheap paint and materials look to it. It doesn't look even as close to as neat and professional as TOMY's TOS shuttlebay. As to what they say they will do and what the finish product actually looks like, I don't go by their word. I go by their practice. And, thus far, their practice doesn't come close to their word.

In TMP, I think the shuttlebay is linked to a large cargo Bay, I'm guessing that "wall" is supposed to be a heavy door that comes up to seal off the cargo Bay, but who knows. I do know it doesn't look great. I assume they'll make an A variant later down the line.
@@JGG1701 That's kind of part of the problem with this not bring the "A" already. The coloring on the top of the engineering hull is already painted for the "A" 1701 had green coloring. the "A" had blue. Anywhere that Duck egg blue should be a muted green
Wrong. What you saw in TMP when Kirk boarded was the cargo bay. Rewatch the scene and look above. There are doors that close off the shuttle bay just above. ZERO chance they would ever be able to put a cargo bay in there. Even if they did you would not see it....
Depends on the collector - for me, it is definitely worth it. I hope the follow it up with a matching Reliant.

Good point. In the TOMY+ Insiders group on fb, TOMY+ said “The blue lights in the nacelles will be diffused in the production model.”

The TOS ship had holes in the side, etc.... Not worth it. I'm a model maker and $700 for a toy - even lighted - isnt worth it.

The strong backs are wrong. For the refit they should be green, not blue. The blue strong backs are for the enterprise a.
They are aware of the issue and are going to correct it...
