“Suffering is finding a home for the suffering Christ.” Love that! 💞🙏🏻

I just started reading the book, Fire From Above: Christian Contemplation and Mystical Wisdom by Dr. Anthony Lilles. It's a good book on mental prayer and contemplative prayer, and one chapter is about St. Elizabeth of the Trinity.
Side note: I found a movie about St. John of the Cross by director/actor Leonardo Defilippis and it's on UA-cam.

What a wonderful series this has been about St Elizabeth of The Trinity.
Your conversation gave us all such alot to think about regarding our own lives and conforming our lives to Our Lord. May Elizabeth of the Trinity pray for us.
I pray to St Joseph to be with us to have a happy death. I pray the saints and angels guide us to be clean of mind and heart and may Our Lady be with us to protect us from the world, the flesh and the evil one.
May we all reach heaven and praise and glorify Almighty God forever Amen

Many go on retreat to find themselves “Elizabeth goes on this last retreat to lose herself…” ✝︎ Beautiful abandonment, sweet simplicity!

I'm at the other end of life from you `young guys' myself being a child of the 60's. I had a profound experience of the truth of `God as source of all love' when I was about 20 ( a profound consolation and I am still drawing truth from it - the mystery of God is certainly eternal. It's not `as if' it happened `only yesterday' because there is no time in eternity just the`ever present moment' and so it lives within me, in the ever present life of God - I wish I could put God's mystery into words but you know.... ) Since then atheism has constantly assaulted me as it has everyone else the world over - makes you wonder where it comes from right?
It's very hard in our youth to keep the faith because this life never ends right? But it's getting a whole lot easier now.
It's all very well for me to say this now and I feel a bit like a hypocrite for sure, however I have never followed the voice of atheism because you know....in the end....it just doesn't appeal somehow...., its really boring because it's meaningless.....but I have struggled with it like Jacob did all night.......the `night' meaning `this life.' Its interesting that the one like a man renamed him Israel which means to struggle or grapple with. Like Jacob, the struggle has left me wounded but I'm still here and I'm grateful for God's `Hound of heaven' (Francis Thompson) who continues to hunt me down no matter where I flee. Maybe that's why I'm a veterinary surgeon by profession. I've spent my life caring for the hounds that hunt me - haha.

I am so pleased to say that I was a secular member at the Barrington Carmel when Sr. Sealus OCD wrote her last book on St. Elizabeth of the Trinity. I believe Sr. Sealus OCD was a genius; She was a concert violinist before she entered the Barrington Carmel.
