Late to the party I know, but finally, I get access (only 15 minutes) to drive Toyota GR Yaris.
You join me at Milbrook Proving Ground for the 2023 SMMT Driving event where I hustle the small Japanese PocketRocket up the Hill Route.
This drive & video was more a tick off the bucket list than a review, I hope you enjoy it! I know it's not the most technical insight into the car, but I appreciate the lack of time I had with the car

Glad you like it! Few cheap mods (bushings, camber bolts, mounts inserts) transform the car into tarmac rally weapon. If I lived in a country with lot of rain and snow I'd sell my fwd and get a GRY... Actually, that is exactly what I did. :)
If I didn't have my Mk7 Fiesta ST, I'd be snapping one up 1000%
Aftermarket catalogue is huge, which makes even more tempting 😍

As you droge both, which one would you choose: The Gr86 oder Yaris gr? I ordered the GR86 but always wanted the Yaris.
I'd pick a GR Yaris, reason being the powertrain and hatch body type
Although, I'm not taking anything away from the GR86 as it's just as good, plus it's limited run

@Adam.2099 Lacks fun/character in comparison the GR is more involving to drive and lots more low down pep and the drive train is more individual too with its different setups (sport & track)
S1 is a good car, but comparing to a GR Yaris isn't fair personally

Never heard so much dribble in my life 😂 I don't know if you have ventured out of your bubble but there are other youtubers comparing s1's and gr yaris's because they think they are comparable 😂 and in some cases the s1 comes out on top. The s1 is 4 wheel drive (same as the yaris) the s1 is small in size (like the yaris) the s1 has individual/sports mode i have no idea what your going on about (just like the yaris) the s1 is a 2.0 turbo with 231 bhp and 370nm, the yaris is a 1.6 turbo with 257 bhp and 360nm (very similar) ...the audi s1 is the only other thing it can be compared to. Oh, and the "lack character" & "fun" and the more "involving to drive" part is ridiculous. If the s1 is a manual, then that comment makes no sense 😂 "different kettle of fish" ... think your on another planet pal 😂

To me, GR is better than the S1
Doesn't matter about engine size and the S1 isn't AWD, its front wheel drive biased 4WD system
