just hearing jaru say “wash your coat… that implies…. that there’s something- that the coat is dirty… and if it’s dirty that means there’s something on it….. dirt…” was hilarious to me
🤯🤯🤯. Holy [CUNGADERO]!! I didn't realize the connection! That's so weird, we literally gave them a hairstyle, clothes, personality, voice, blood type, but never a face???
Small context for the joke in 0:54:44 For most Windows users file extensions are hidden by default, so some malware creators would create files exactly like this with 2 extensions .TXT.vbs. vbs part (the real extension) would be hidden by Windows, so you'd see only .TXT, which would make you think it's just a safe text file, while yikes, it's a script, that can do some serious damage when you run it! XD So yeah. Malware joke
Fun reference that I didn’t see you point out at the time: In spamton’s “ransom note” card, the file at the end, LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU,TXT,vbs is a reference to the ILOVEYOU worm, an infamous computer virus that spread through a fake love letter which used that same file name. That’s exactly what I’d expect from spamton.
@@dmclsl03 Same lol I disagree with so much of the stuff he says or how he interprets things but even those wild takes can be interesting to listen to while doing my work assignments
1:38:58 actually, he could be talking about the poem known as "the old year" which goes like: The Old Year’s gone away To nothingness and night: We cannot find him all the day Nor hear him in the night: He left no footstep, mark or place In either shade or sun: The last year he’d a neighbour’s face, In this he’s known by none. All nothing everywhere: Mists we on mornings see Have more of substance when they’re here And more of form than he. He was a friend by every fire, In every cot and hall- A guest to every heart’s desire, And now he’s nought at all. Old papers thrown away, Old garments cast aside, The talk of yesterday, Are things identified; But time once torn away No voices can recall: The eve of New Year’s Day Left the Old Year lost to all. which is pretty much gaster coded.
Very interesting! With both Gaster and Dess, I've always been fascinated by the possible implications of beings who exist beyond time, but in some ways also become ravaged or twisted by existing for such eternities, watching worlds repeat over and over, becoming new entities that scarcely recall even themselves. There is something in the message that evokes an old man needing assistance, too disconnected from his past/realities. I like the idea of it, anyway.
Thats WayneradioTV for you. He's a master at that kind of comedy, I recommend some of his other streams if you want more. The "Gameclam" saga is really good.
My impression was that the first way, "wash your face and put on your coat", is a way of showing your genuine self; meanwhile, "wash your coat and put on your face", is a way of hiding your identity in a deceitful manner. I don't exactly know how to put it with the following sentences but it's something
"to put on a face" could also mean, like, wearing an expression to mask your true feelings (it's a fairly common thing in UT for monsters to "smile through the pain"; if you've seen HBC's video on smiles)
… I was totally expecting “your car smells like toothpaste” to lead into an “Asriel’s corpse is hidden in the trunk of Kris’ car” theory (I’m sure this has been brought up before, but I’m pretty sure the reason Ralsei is “toothpaste boy” is because white with red and green lines is a common color for toothpaste?) … actually now that I think about it. The idea that those Lancer Valentine’s cards are generic makes it seem like he does just associate nice and proper people with brushing your teeth, because he’s such a child that it seems like outrageously proper behavior to him.
I was doubting whether the cyan soul would be the most relevant out of the souls of all other colours, but then I realize DELTARUNE starts with the entity asking for your favourite colour, and the options are RGB and specifically cyan.
Gaster's speaking style reminds me so much of the Riverperson in this, and I cannot get over that fact. (The Riverperson is also the only time Gaster is referenced in UT outside of a fun event, at this point I'm convinced the two are connected.)
Honestly, you could probably convince me Riverperson said something like "*Tra la la *Remember to wash your face, and put on your coat! *Or put on your face and wash your coat. *Not neccessarily in that order. *Or in any order at all." in game, if I didn't know any better. It _really_ fits in among their other weird quotes.
Are you the man who speaks in hands because you're the Intro narrator of Deltarune or are you the man who took over the UT/DR twitter account because you're W. D. GASTER? "Nah I'm Geoff"
not sure whats going on with jjk, but HAVE YOU SEEN HOLLOW KNIGHT SILKSONG? (idk how many people are familiar with it lol), we are excited over a dev team member just saying, hey we are alive, on the discord server.
@@glareninja bruh the Silksong believers are crazy. February has gone past and we haven't even gotten a peap of behind the scenes. We were 100% sure we'd get atleast *some* news. Atleast Toby and Jaru are here to fill the empty void for me
Love story concept: you keep writting Valentine letters to Mettaton, but you aren't in love with Mettaton, you just want to see Burgerpants sing his little song to you again and again because you love him
1:39:33 There actually IS another explanation for it, and it's the fact that Gaster's backstory involves him being shattered across time and space. Those of you who have watched The Haunting of Hill House will know the quote, "I feel a bit clearer now. Everything's been out of order, Time, I mean. I thought for so long that time was like a line, that... that our moments were laid out like dominoes, and that they fell one into another, and on it went. Just days tipping, one into the next, into the next, in a long line between the beginning... and the end. But I was wrong. It's not like that at all. Our moments fall around us like rain, or... snow, or confetti", and I think it makes just as much sense here. For somebody unbound to the linear perception of time, that which is new is just as much old, so he is simply struggling to try to translate his perception of reality into one we can comprehend.
It has probably been mentioned before, but I would like to point out that cyan is the exact opposite color of red, which could mean that since the soul color of Deltarune's protagonist is red, it is possible that the game's antagonist will have a cyan-colored soul.
@-ZH it maybe talking about the poem "the old year" yhis is it: The Old Year’s gone away To nothingness and night: We cannot find him all the day Nor hear him in the night: He left no footstep, mark or place In either shade or sun: The last year he’d a neighbour’s face, In this he’s known by none. I think the gaster letter might be being Addressed to Ralsei, the phrase “Waiting Patiently” immediately made me think of Ralsei saying he has “been waiting alone here” his “whole life for you two to arrive”
Thought I'd sum up everything myself and my community on discord discovered in response to the "Gaster" Valentine we received. First off, the most damning evidence that this isn't in fact Gaster isn’t just the writing being goofy… It’s also that the Japanese version of the letter is written pretty much exclusively in Hiragana, while Gaster has always been known to write in Katakana in Japanese to give him a more peculiar feel in his writing. It’s sort of a way to mock up his all caps writing like we see in the goner maker sequence or on Twitter. So, while the writing on this Valentine does look very similar to Gaster’s in English, it’s almost unrecognizably different in Japanese, which surely means something. There’s a chance of course that this is because we’re speaking to a different Gaster than we’re used to, but a few other discrepancies have convinced me it’s someone else. One big one is the mention of forgetfulness. Notably in the Ice Palace page by the way of the Damn_You_Tenna page from the Sweepstakes. The text “AREN'T YOU FORGETTING SOMETHING?” as the name of the tab in similar all caps style. Unfortunately we can't cross-check with the Japanese version of the Sweepstakes website because… There isn’t one. I don’t think the pages were released in Japanese but I could be wrong, it would be very helpful if they were. Obviously though, the Valentine is dealing with an individual who has forgotten something, so perhaps this is someone talking to them? Based on the context of the page being accessible only from Damn_You_Tenna there’s a possibility it’s them, or of course it could be Spamton. It could also be them talking to themselves/sending out a signal to the same reader the Valentine was intended for… Impossible to say. Regardless, I think there’s further evidence to link this Valentine directly to Chapter 3. Notably the strange lines “wash your face and put on your coat” which could be directed at a stage performer. After a show they’d have to wash off stage make-up, and perhaps the coat is worn to conceal their stage costume? Either that or just a reference to getting dressed to leave the theater for the night. This could symbolically reference the character sort of leaving behind their persona and becoming their true self, or vice-versa. From what I’ve read “good-by” is an archaic form of good-bye from its transitionary period from “god be with ye” to “good-bye,” so one could also intuit a thespian background from that. Some people are speculating that the Valentine is Tenna, or Mike, or whoever CH3’s secret boss will be, and I’m not sure I’d go that far, but to me it seems like the writer might at least be talking to someone from CH3 given the context of their lines, so there is that. I’ve been slightly swayed to think that this might all be in reference to IMAGE_FRIEND from CH2, (by a tweet I’ll link in a reply in case it gets blocked) as they are literally named for their role as a friend to someone, and it seems this Valentines writer is also linked to someone they’ve been trying to help. Maybe a stretch, but given a similar face showed up in the Sweepstakes along with the Ice Palace evidence, even being associated with the coat on the chair you mentioned, it could be true.
@@fullaccess2645i think when he's communicating with text (writing, typing, etc) it's normal, like in the twitter takeover the text was completely readable he seems to only speak in hands, like the river person says
@@fullaccess2645 No other character in Deltarune or Undertale changes their typer related characterization at any point in the game with the exception of Sans who does it twice when he's breaking character. The one time when Gaster canonically speaks aloud is in Entry 17, and it reamains as Windings, corresponding with a Hepburn transliteration of japanese syllabaries. This would be contradiction to that characterization, because if you want to imply some sort of pattern to him writing vs. speaking, then, naturally, a second dynamic would have to be his writing. This second dynamic already exists: it's the kanji + katakana combo.
I like the theory that this is the Man behind the Tree due to the way the letter is worded. "Well, there is a man here. Well, there was not a man here." "Well, happy new year! Or, was it the old year." "He might be happy to see you. What do you think? ... You got the egg." "Only if you believe it so. Do you believe it so? ... So the purpose of the message."
I love this interpretation (I hope it remains canon). It’s sort of similar to how I portray him in my disassociation stories, although it’s probably closer to how he is in my Deltarune ones (please ask about this I would love to infodump)
54:58 Fun fact: that is a real trick scammers do to run malicious files into your computer! I know this from experience because I was once almost hacked by clicking a file I THOUGHT was a PDF, but was actually a .scr file that can run all sorts of malware on ya. The file name went somewhat like: insert_very_long_filename_so_that_windows_hides_the_file_format.PDF.scr
2:11:06 roulx implys some anagrams in deltarune may have a letter missing, such as his example of thou + me (the letter removed is u) to make "me hot" you could then connect this to frisk (the letter removed is f) to make kris to prove kris deltarune is frisk undertale le gasp. Its just the first thing that popped to my mind haha so its a pretty far fetched connection.
Rouxls Kaard's name is an anagram of "Lux or Dark" with the the extra "a" removed. Even though he's a Darkner, his teleportation certainly looks like some kind of light power.
1:48:00 in terms of “it’s quite ironic, but I seem to have forgotten” to me it’s a direct reference to how much ‘don’t forget’ is plastered all over the game. There’s so many reminders not to forget, and yet he has anyway.
yea I was thinking about that too also I think maybe a possibility is that the person(s) gaster was trying to help were the secret bosses in each chapter, though when he tried to help he just ended up driving them insane
You really weren’t kidding when you said you’d spent an hour and a half on the valentines. Glad I could somewhat help with the rarity thing, even though it was probably already pointed out by then. Very unfortunate that I only got normals in my email, but I’m happy the community ended up getting them all
And this is the most characterization we've ever seen, if you are to assume they're genuine, and they talk strangely like the Egg Tree person interestingly.
One very cool theory I've seen floating around is that there are multiple "fragments" of Gaster, after he was "scattered through space and time", which explains why the one in the Deltarune intro has a more formal tone and personality than the one in the valentines card. Since they are different parts of Gaster, maybe the one in the intro is his more scientific and professional side while the one in the valentines card is his silly and casual side.
@@pablopereyra7126 It might not even be two 'separate' parts of Gaster; After all Sans also has two very different sides, his serious mode (you'd be dead where you stand), and his normal happy silly side. Taken out of context sans' two modes would read like two entirely separate characters as well.
54:43 that's how virus filenames actually tend to look haha, VBS is a scripting language and Windows by default hides file extensions, so when you download it it just looks like a text file but double-clicking it will run the script.
Long history thing means that the game was in development for a long time. DR since 2011 and the other for over 10 years, like Toby said in sentence right after
I don't understand why it has to be the cyan soul. Yes, in Undertale it was associated with patience, but does the same apply to Deltarune? Does the cyan soul even exist in Deltarune? In Undertale the cyan soul was one of the children that fell to the Underground, so why would it be so different in Deltarune? Why would it be not-human and so strange? Maybe you could come up with an answer to those questions, but it would be extremely messy and require many leaps. Practically every sentence in the letter has multiple interpretations and/or meanings, but "someone waiting patiently for something" is such a normal, simple concept that I think it's meant to be taken literally. You don't have to be the cyan soul to wait patiently.
55:03 The reason the file is named this way is because a) it's a reference to the "I love you" virus, a 2000 computer virus that was disguised as a love letter that infected billions of computers, and the reason for the file extension ending format is because b) older versions of windows actually hid the file type extension of a file, meaning when the file was download it, it would appear as "LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.TXT" and not as "LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.TXT.vbs" in the file manager, tricking people into thinking it was just a normal "text" file (also the reason vbs was used was because it's built into windows, like batch files).
2:09:57 when he’s an item, his dialogue also cuts off like he knows it’s being cut off. It’s fun to see a character that breaks the fourth wall like this so often
1:42:22 As soon as I read "time is going around" I knew I had to hear your reaction, haha. Major win for that theory. I do have my doubts this is Gaster, though. It's not so much the "goofiness," but it's the less analytical diction and almost "wandering mind" tone that comes across through the writing. When compared to the direct and scientific dialogue in certain places (like that early chapter one save screen) it comes across as someone different. I feel like we're supposed to think it's Gaster, however, and are meant to associate this with him. But perhaps it is instead a future secret boss who was contacted by Gaster, much like Jevil or Spamton, except they are perhaps either still in contact or more recently lost contact with him and therefore maintain a similar demeanor due to the knowledge they share. The idea that they could have recently lost contact with Gaster is an interesting one. It could mean the person that they were supposed to help that they can't remember was Gaster himself, but now that contact is severed, their memory of him is fading away. How would forgetting be ironic to this unknown character? Maybe they were assisting Gaster with the manipulation of memory. In fact, Gaster's potential involvement with the save menus and the act of manipulating or erasing them can be seen as very similar to memories. Both memories and saved files could be considered snapshots of a moment in time, and a save file as stored on a computer is quite literally "memory."
@@ihaetschool3361 That's a fair point! It's impossible to know for sure, but it could definitely just be a more casual conversation here than we're used to seeing. I suppose that could also explain things like the Japanese translation having a different writing style than most other Gaster writings, or the potential mistake in "Good By," although that one probably has a purposeful deeper meaning. If this is really a more casual conversation with Gaster, that's exciting too, because it could suggest we're getting closer to truly meeting.
1. I think that Red Cup's from the Church. Makes the most sense for them to have disposable red cups to me. 2. Good by [Me], but it got deleted, as it always does with Gaster.
I mean characters in Undertale can be both silly and serious. Undyne is serious when she’s hunting you down in order to kill you, but she’s also silly when she’s chucking boulders for no reason and teaching you how to cook. Even Sans, the silliest of the silly, can be serious, like when he says “you’d be dead where you stand” or during his Genocide fight
There are actually issues with the Mystery letter being Gaster besides "being goofy." The manner that the Japanese translation is depicted is apparently very different from the way it normally is with Gaster. He mispells the "goodbye" as "goodby" which is very strange. Stranger yet, he spells DELTARUNE as DELTA RUNE, something we know Gaster doesn't do. So while it I'd still possibly him, it is also likely it's someone we haven't met yet, like Mike or Tenna
Using different styles of speech in different contexts is totally normal in both Japanese and English. The "Good By" could mean anything. And he refers to DELTARUNE as "DELTARUNE" in the Japanese version of the Valentine, despite it being referred to as "DELTA RUNE" in the Japanese version of the game itself.
Not sure if anyone’s said this, but the names Lanino and Elnina for the weather people are particularly interesting because not only do they complement each other (in the sense that in Spanish it should be La Niña and El Niño, so they both have one word from the other), but also: El Niño and La Niña are meteorological terms for a pattern of weather which occurs when the ocean temperatures in the eastern Pacific Ocean are higher (El Niño) or lower (La Niña) than average. I have absolutely no idea if this is intentional, but it’s another layer of depth to their names, and of course it’s a good pun.
3:39 I think it’s implied that ralsei is writing a letter to everyone. Because Susie is in the room with him and he mentions “other” letters. Edit: wrote this before watching the whole video. Didn’t know there were multiple cards from the same person. So… theory confirmed…?
Gaster Note ideas: Maybe the "old year" is in reference to this being the soul of an Undertale character and going into Deltarune put them in an older year than Undertale takes place? Time loop also works of course. Gaster could be talking about how the LEGEND of Deltarune is going in narrative and how the journey is going so far. The soul may just be the soul of whoever the player is (Asriel according to your theories), because to achieve Determination you need every soul attribute which includes patience. The whole love bit made me moderately question if this was Gaster honestly, it sounds a bit more like the secret boss of chapter 3 or maybe Gaster is talking to them giving them this lustful personality so they only want love (7 deadly sins theory), even giving them the idea every day is about love. This person Gaster wants to help may be Dess, if they are in the code? It makes sense because Dess seems to be forgotten by everyone but Noelle who seems to know secrets very well. It can be himself as well, who knows. Not too much to say on the part Gaster says "I never forget someone I don't remember," your take was a solid theory. Again, I like the idea Gaster is talking to chapter 3's secret boss with the "Will you help me?" Every secret boss probably has a part of Gaster (the Shadow Crystals maybe?) in them, and Gaster wanting their help may be trying to get Kris' soul so he can achieve his dreams of stopping the timeloop...I'm not too sure. The secret boss may wear makeup because they wanna look nice because they want love and they wanna look nice with a coat. I always kinda thought the "put on your face" can be read as put on a smile...and all secret bosses smile! You always wanna look your best if you are trying to get someone too, so you need to wash your clothes and they may only wear a coat.
What's also interesting is that in undertale, gerson sells the cyan soul's items: the notebook and glasses. Gerson was probably the one who killed the cyan human, which is why we never see the cyan power because we never fight gerson. I wonder if these two are connected in this timeline as well
3:07 Its not too surprising of a ship, you know small nice boy with big "mean" girl (opposites attract sorta deal). You take that along with scenes like Susies reaction to Ralsei's eyes, her dragging him along with her in ch2, the healing side plot, Ralsei talking about Susie in the acid tunnel of love. You can see the vision.
Ships are kinda... Interesting. I could care less about the interpersonal relationship status of fictional characters. Unless you are writing a romance story, ships shouldn't matter all too much.
If Gaster is shattered across time and space, it would be fitting for him to get confused about time periods, I guess. PS: But this does imply either that he is the same character for Undertale and Deltarune or that he is in the "shattered" state in Deltarune's universe too. PPS: Or yes, it could be just about the time loop theory.
I feel like the "Gaster" letter could actually be written by someone else. Gaster's speech is way more formal, and overall not so confusing. I feel like it could be a new secret boss, someone who likes riddles a lot, since he has a very specific speaking style, that kind of reminded me of Jevil. That could also explain how he knows about the timeloop.
1:36:10 I don't believe it's unclear that Twitter entity and the Void entity are one entity at all. The Twitter posts very clearly said that they are on "the verge of connection" with us, and that they "looked forward to creating a new future" with us. Then literally the first lines of Deltarune are, "Are you there? Are we connected?" The entities are one and the same, bridging a gap between us and them through Deltarune. And given the entity's manner of speaking, overall personality, and attitude, I find it hard to believe it is _anyone_ but Gaster. Furthermore, it cannot be denied that the entity existed _prior_ to Deltarune, as they were the one that called it into existence. This means that there is no other possibility than it being Undertale's Gaster. Furthermore, given that Gaster _created_ Deltarune, it's possible that there *_is_* no Deltarune Gaster, and he is the soul Gaster within the Narrative. 1:39:20 I can propose a theory right now. Time to Gaster is a nebulous concept now, as he was shattered "across time and space" as mentioned in Undertale. He is living an existence similar to Dr. Manhattan, where he is living in every moment at the same time, experiencing everything at once. Time is not a river to him; it's a thunderstorm. He is unable to pick out the dates sometimes, just as we are unable to discern one droplet of water from another. Now, Time Loop theory is *also* a very valid explanation, but as theorists, we must avoid confirmation bias and consume _all_ evidence to make our theories as solid as possible. In fact, my theory that Gaster is shattered across all time adds credence to your theory that Delta Rune is something occurring in the climax, and Gaster is speaking to someone about it now. He's having two conversations at once, at two points in time wherein both conversations are relevant. Right now, it's the Meta conversation, and later, it will be the Story conversation. If y'all wanna bounce ideas off my theories, lemme know. I'm always eager to test my thoughts against the community.
This also explains the “every day is a day of love” part of the letter, if Gaster is experiencing time all at once, then every ‘day’ for him would be quite litterally EVERY day. So it’d always be Valentine’s Day from his POV
@@nescade5663 Also a valid point. I also don't see why my theory and Jaru's would be mutually exclusive. It could both be that Gaster is experiencing every moment at once _and_ Deltarune is a loop. I believe Deltarune was created by Gaster for an exclusive purpose; remember, when it was first released, it was called Survey_Program and had everyone sign a contract with dubious terms. I feel like that's going to bite us in the ass later. Those who signed were met with a similar agreement in game - accepting "Pain and Seizure" as a possibility. Seizure obviously could mean seizures brought on by flashing lights, but the fact that this is being asked by Gaster - as Jaru has mentioned - makes me think this has multiple layers. Such as if control will be "Seized" from us at some point, robbing us of agency or our avatar, Kris. On the topic of him needing to help someone, it could be that this world was created by Gaster not just to study us, but to guide us to an ends. Or perhaps to see how long it will take us to achieve that ends. Or if we're foolishly kind enough to trust him in that there is an ends in the first place. It's hard to say right now. My theory runs much deeper than this. Using logical contextual clues, I can actually _prove_ that Deltarune is an offshoot of the Undertale timeline in which Chara's attempted plan failed and they never perished. Honestly, I'm shocked nobody has made a video contextualizing all the clues I've found - at least no video that I've seen.
Gaster's card has led me to a revelation. That we can connect him to a certain Gaster Follower; the one resembling Scared Donut Guy Undertale, and one of the drivers in Deltarune Chapter 2. Not only is he both the RAREST follower, increasing his potential for importance, but also the one who must be the most fond with Gaster seeing as he tells us he is LITERALLY HOLDING A PIECE OF THE MAN. Gaster getting a little quirky aside, If we look at the sprites for Scared Donut Guy, we can see him with wide eyes and an awkward smile reflecting his current state of distress. However, if we look at the goner sprite, his eyes are missing, leaving the awkward smile behind, giving him an eerie look. Now, if you can remember the chair with the coat, you'll recall the eyes. Y'know, the ones that have been connected to a certain disembodied face? Well, I'm saying they're connected to the guy who's holding a disembodied face. The guy holding Gaster's face can also disembody his face and check on whatever "delta rune" really is. Links to the fandom wikis, for reference undertale.fandom.com/wiki/Fun_Value#Gaster_Followers undertale.fandom.com/wiki/Hotland/NPCs#Scared_Donut_Guy deltarune.fandom.com/wiki/Hometown/NPCs#Drivers Of course, this is all a stretch, and I'm not saying you have to agree with me. I just want you to remember this half-baked theory, so maybe you can make fully baked theory later. _-Maybe I should put this somewhere other than a UA-cam comment section? But where...-_
1:42:56 there’s this one Undertale fan comic that I can’t remember where Monster Kid, Asriel, and Frisk get transported to an alternate reality where monsters and humans are still fighting, and monsters have blood, and monsters live underground semi-voluntarily. Anyways, in that reality monsters have coloured souls like humans, and in that reality, Sans has a light blue (patience) soul, and Papyrus has a dark blue (integrity) soul. I think that these fit REALLY well with these two characters, and I think that even though the comic isn’t canon, monsters having coloured souls could very well end up being a thing in Deltarune, and Sans having a light blue soul would make a hell of a lot of sense
I always found it interesting how Sans eye specifically flashed Cyan and yellow in his UT fight. If we go with the theory that “Don’t forget” is a picture of him with the Deltarune cast and that he’s from the Deltarune world, his eye flashing cyan and yellow may indicate monsters do have more human-like souls in DR and he is one of them
Cant wait to see your reaction to this one! It was very interesting, fingers crossed for a chaper 3-4 release soon, I cant wait to see where this is all going. =)
Lmao what if it's as convoluted as "The letter is a piece of Gaster and is literally speaking through the text and walking away as if it was never there."
There are unused lines in the code, one of them being : "You've come again to this wonderful place, now tear off the mask beneath your face Even before we got this letter, i had figured a couple things that prooved it had something to do with Gaster : the use of the word "Wonderful", the rhymes and the fact it's hidden in the code much like other Gaster stuff. The fact he directly talks about putting on your face in the lettee seems to refer to this unused line. Thing is, in my bunker incident theory, I assumed his unused line was what he would say to Kris when he'd finally enter the Bunker again, but like you said, the letter doesn't seem directed at Kris
Man the Gaster one brought me back and made me emotional due to me writing exactly like that on the internet. I miss my old friends on the web. I miss having friends at all really that aren't my coworkers in the game called the "Real Life". I miss just not having people think I was legitimately dead for some reason only to contact me somehow years after and in the end? I just miss being a silly little guy on the internet instead of this jaded asshat who hates himself and what he has done and their inaction. Like to some people I never really truly existed at all and now I sometimes get to see into that. How their lives basically moved on without me being able to ever really talk or interact with them again. How entire communities fell apart without my influence and how they also moved on completely fine as if I was never there. I kinda just wished I kept part in these communities and people in general or at least kept more of them around in my phone here; instead of just like 3 people. Honestly when I saw the letter it kinda just made me depressed about the person who I used to be online and in real life. Sometimes I think it would be better if I never existed at all. As if I could undo the hurt I brought onto the people who thought I had died due to them being not so nice to me and me being not so nice in return. Honestly looking back on it now it was just so stupid. Quick satisfaction over deleting my accounts ultimately just led to me being depressed and alone and I really shouldn't of felt good doing it over the mental state I was displaying to my online friends at the time. I probably should've at least looked at myself before doing so anyway and re-assured the people who actually cared about me about what I ended up ultimately doing. Whatever whats done is done and I ultimately can't change the past. I hope this metaphor does you well. As for me? I really want to remove the rest of my friends ability to contact me at the moment.
I think that Undyne's strength doesn't have anything to do with magic because her spears seem like the magic she uses in Undertale. The thing about Undyne's strength in Deltarune that is weird to me is because Undyne was never trained to be a royal guard by Asgore, but she is still probably trained by Asgore when he was police chief and that's why she says "oh you're Asgore's kid" and lets you off the hook.
I am currently going insane from all the lore so my thoughts will probably be a bit scattered right now, but Monsters still have heart shaped souls so theres no reason it has to be a human being talked to here, Heck the fact that there is error text in UT/DR (i dont remember which one) that says "you cant read these symbols" and we arent able to underatand, meanwhile this character is able to manifest its meaning would actually imply that its anythiny but a human soul's trait to understand gaster's words. (Personally i still thinks its a human hes talking to but its still important to ackowlage) Your theories have slowly been taking over my brain because i actually had an explanation for what "old year" meant brewing in my head but as soon as you said "timeloop" it completely overwrote my thoughts so now i can't remember. The first thing i noticed about the gaster letter that might point towards it not being him is the constant use of exclamation points which he rarely uses in any other text, but there is the "thanks for the feedback! Be seeing you soon!" Line from the sound test which is almost certainly is said by gaster when you look at all the other times hes looking for our "feedback" so maybe gaster's grammar isn't QUITE as consistent as we thought. I think the cyan soul is a huge leap, another human character theres just been absolutely nothing so far pointing towards that particular human being more important than the others (other than maybe them having a knife which every major human has had so far) and with toby giving the seal of approval to undertale yellow almost treating it as if its an official game i just dont see toby using those human souls for anything major and leaving them up as loose ends for other stories, and then theres the 7 flowers asgore has, those would have to be involved some how. The patience soul was also the one that made the least distance in the underground before dying judging by the locations of their belongings, unless they were waiting for something important and wasted away in the ruins (which is entirely possible) it would be a bit odd for such an impirtant figure to die such a pathetic death. And on top of everything i believe the word patience has been used before by gaster. Sans' eye is the same exact color as the patience soul so that is worth noting. Gaster forgetting being ironic could also imply he was the one that made the dont forget note in sans' workshop The coat being blue isn't really the smoking gun you think it is, there are a lot of characters associated with the color blue; Frisk, sans, ice E, berdly, yhe spade family, jevil, the aliens from my fever dream, and there's plenty of characters we havent even seen yet who might be wearing blue in this universe. Another interpretation of the "put on your face" line is a fake identity or personality of sorts, this terminology is commenly used in stuff like persona 5, and theres already a creepy unused error text in deltarune that reads "tear off the mask beneath your face!" I dont even know how you would even begin to explain how the patience soul is the friend, the only connection is that they were hiding behind the chair, which does not at all imply that the coat belongs to them, and it just being a face doesnt really connect, gaster has always been associated with faces, often disconnected ones. you just said the color blue is their sign, but now you're saying they have yellow and pink eyes? Its been heavily implied that friend/mike/tenna/tv smile is a character associated specifically with spamton and chapter 3, ive had suspicions gaster might be some kind of shady buissness partner with them, but it doesnt make sense for this character to one of the most important ones with direct contact and involvement with gaster, Especially considering toby said he didnt think people would really like spamton i doubt he made a spamton related character a part of one of the major plots of deltarune. The only "human" with the ability to shape shift is the vessel, and the vessel is not the patience soul. Over all really great video.
part of valentines culture in America is the platonic giving of cards among classmates (though they are usually very low effort) and the women in your family (like a child to their mother or grandmother or aunt, akin to behavior on mothers day). it's also common to give slightly higher effort valentines, but specifically in a platonic nature to your close friends. highest effort valentines are reserved for romantic interests. usually tiers of valentine go something like: tier 1) simple store bought card, sometimes with a single piece of candy (for classmates / strangers) tier 2) simple store bought card with a flower, or a lone flower (familial) tier 3) simple handwritten card with candy (for friends) tier 4) handwritten/made card with flower (familial, very close friends) tier 5) handmade card with candy & flowers (romantic interest)

My interpretation on the “OLD YEAR” bit is that when Gaster fell into his own creation he was shattered across time and space. What would it look like to have a conversation with someone who exists in multiple points in time, something that is happening now can feel like it’s happened a long time ago to Gaster. I believe that’s why he’s asking if it’s an old year, part of him doesn’t think it’s a new year, but he’s not quite sure. I’d say not all of him agrees with the year being old from the perspective of those pieces
just hearing jaru say “wash your coat… that implies…. that there’s something- that the coat is dirty… and if it’s dirty that means there’s something on it….. dirt…” was hilarious to me

For most Windows users file extensions are hidden by default, so some malware creators would create files exactly like this with 2 extensions .TXT.vbs.
vbs part (the real extension) would be hidden by Windows, so you'd see only .TXT, which would make you think it's just a safe text file, while yikes, it's a script, that can do some serious damage when you run it! XD

actually, he could be talking about the poem known as "the old year" which goes like:
The Old Year’s gone away
To nothingness and night:
We cannot find him all the day
Nor hear him in the night:
He left no footstep, mark or place
In either shade or sun:
The last year he’d a neighbour’s face,
In this he’s known by none.
All nothing everywhere:
Mists we on mornings see
Have more of substance when they’re here
And more of form than he.
He was a friend by every fire,
In every cot and hall-
A guest to every heart’s desire,
And now he’s nought at all.
Old papers thrown away,
Old garments cast aside,
The talk of yesterday,
Are things identified;
But time once torn away
No voices can recall:
The eve of New Year’s Day
Left the Old Year lost to all.
which is pretty much gaster coded.

"Wash" can also be defined as "seeming convincing or genuine" like metaphorically putting on a face
you mean to say... that putting on a face can be defined as... putting on a face??
Using a persona
My impression was that the first way, "wash your face and put on your coat", is a way of showing your genuine self; meanwhile, "wash your coat and put on your face", is a way of hiding your identity in a deceitful manner. I don't exactly know how to put it with the following sentences but it's something
I literally wheezed when I saw the video had a 30 minute part just titled "GASTER"
ah jaru, please never change
"That was something... Thank you for the... For the brain damage." Ayyy lmao I'm dying
"to put on a face" could also mean, like, wearing an expression to mask your true feelings
(it's a fairly common thing in UT for monsters to "smile through the pain"; if you've seen HBC's video on smiles)
… I was totally expecting “your car smells like toothpaste” to lead into an “Asriel’s corpse is hidden in the trunk of Kris’ car” theory
(I’m sure this has been brought up before, but I’m pretty sure the reason Ralsei is “toothpaste boy” is because white with red and green lines is a common color for toothpaste?)
… actually now that I think about it.

I love it! xD
Yeah, I always noticed that, perhaps the Nintendo Switch soul mode in the Mad Mew Mew fight REALLY is symbolic!
If that's the case, then Spamton Neo's broken heart on a chain being teal (Aka a dull cyan) would make a lot of sense.
@@Dekubud Interesting point. Strange that I haven't noticed that before even though teal is my favorite color. 😅

Maybe a stretch, but given a similar face showed up in the Sweepstakes along with the Ice Palace evidence, even being associated with the coat on the chair you mentioned, it could be true.
yep!
Maybe the writing is different because gaster writes in a different manner than he speaks?
@@fullaccess2645i think when he's communicating with text (writing, typing, etc) it's normal, like in the twitter takeover the text was completely readable
he seems to only speak in hands, like the river person says
Well, there was not a man here."
"Well, happy new year! Or, was it the old year."

It's almost like there's more than one human soul in these games. xD
Long history thing means that the game was in development for a long time. DR since 2011 and the other for over 10 years, like Toby said in sentence right after
La Nina and and El Nino are climate phenomenons that occur in the Pacific Ocean. Its almost definitely where their names come from.
You don't have to be the cyan soul to wait patiently.
i don't get where the cyan soul came from. Didn't he discard the cyan soul in the Who is Kris video? This was really confusing

The Spamton Love Network also Aires on New Years Eve of 1999, which connects to the "New Year" the Gaster like entity talks about.
I thought the running joke for Lancer's letters was that he thought he had to write a letter to someone called "Valentine"
Both memories and saved files could be considered snapshots of a moment in time, and a save file as stored on a computer is quite literally "memory."

there's an obvious counter here: it's a valentines card. it's not something that "direct and scientific" is appropriate to use with
A scientist doesn't always have to talk in analytical language
This is a letter, not these two people talking during work on some expirement.
"...or wear no face at all." MAN. Why did I choose this video as the one video before bed
1. I think that Red Cup's from the Church. Makes the most sense for them to have disposable red cups to me.
2. Good by [Me], but it got deleted, as it always does with Gaster.
3. It's eggman
Him assuming that every valentine relates to a character and not meant to be for the reader (us) is the definition of insanity
I thought the thumbnail was a joke, but this is actually the biggest drop we’ve had in years
In the newsletter, my reading is that Papyrus got a mountain of valentine's cards, but Sans took them all away before P checked the mail.
57:00 "check out the enclosed instruction book" is a phrase from the intro of Hotel Mario. This makes it another CD-i/YTP reference made by Toby Fox.
"QUICK REACTION" *Stares at 2 hour time*
There are actually issues with the Mystery letter being Gaster besides "being goofy."
The manner that the Japanese translation is depicted is apparently very different from the way it normally is with Gaster.
And he refers to DELTARUNE as "DELTARUNE" in the Japanese version of the Valentine, despite it being referred to as "DELTA RUNE" in the Japanese version of the game itself.
he's speaking informally. he's writing a valentine's card
Gaster Note ideas:
Maybe the "old year" is in reference to this being the soul of an Undertale character and going into Deltarune put them in an older year than Undertale takes place?
I wonder if these two are connected in this timeline as well
Interesting point!

Unless you are writing a romance story, ships shouldn't matter all too much.
the classic "the tomboy gets the femboy." or in this case, "the meany gets the softy"
@@AllucardBR-JPFS Tomboy x Femboy is a pretty underrated ship dynamic.
Man I was so afraid that Jevil didn’t get a love card because my boi needs some love since he didn’t appear at all in Chapter 2 only mentions
"time is going around" could refer to the hands on a clock going around the clock. Just a thought, even though I do believe in the time loop.

I think it was called into the void? Or beyond the veil?
Over the void I think is the comic you are talking about
@@commenter6328 that sounds correct
I always found it interesting how Sans eye specifically flashed Cyan and yellow in his UT fight. If we go with the theory that “Don’t forget” is a picture of him with the Deltarune cast and that he’s from the Deltarune world, his eye flashing cyan and yellow may indicate monsters do have more human-like souls in DR and he is one of them
Cant wait to see your reaction to this one! It was very interesting, fingers crossed for a chaper 3-4 release soon, I cant wait to see where this is all going. =)

There are unused lines in the code, one of them being : "You've come again to this wonderful place, now tear off the mask beneath your face
Even before we got this letter, i had figured a couple things that prooved it had something to do with Gaster : the use of the word "Wonderful", the rhymes and the fact it's hidden in the code much like other Gaster stuff.
The fact he directly talks about putting on your face in the lettee seems to refer to this unused line. Thing is, in my bunker incident theory, I assumed his unused line was what he would say to Kris when he'd finally enter the Bunker again, but like you said, the letter doesn't seem directed at Kris
45:24 No Jaru, it's implying YOU are in love with Rouxls. Or maybe Toby, since he writes the newsletters...
Y’all, I don’t even know how you make a two hour video out of what we got in the newsletter. Interested to see
Is Jaru, he has made even more long videos with less content is his talent hahahahaha
"Put on your face" could also be reffering to the vessel, considering we never got to give it a face.
I am currently going insane from all the lore so my thoughts will probably be a bit scattered right now, but
Monsters still have heart shaped souls so theres no reason it has to be a human being talked to here,
Heck the fact that there is error text in UT/DR (i dont remember which one) that says "you cant read these symbols" and we arent able to underatand, meanwhile this character is able to manifest its meaning would actually imply that its anythiny but a human soul's trait to understand gaster's words.
(Personally i still thinks its a human hes talking to but its still important to ackowlage)
Your theories have slowly been taking over my brain because i actually had an explanation for what "old year" meant brewing in my head but as soon as you said "timeloop" it completely overwrote my thoughts so now i can't remember.
Gaster forgetting being ironic could also imply he was the one that made the dont forget note in sans' workshop
The coat being blue isn't really the smoking gun you think it is, there are a lot of characters associated with the color blue; Frisk, sans, ice E, berdly, yhe spade family, jevil, the aliens from my fever dream, and there's plenty of characters we havent even seen yet who might be wearing blue in this universe.
Another interpretation of the "put on your face" line is a fake identity or personality of sorts, this terminology is commenly used in stuff like persona 5, and theres already a creepy unused error text in deltarune that reads "tear off the mask beneath your face!"
I dont even know how you would even begin to explain how the patience soul is the friend, the only connection is that they were hiding behind the chair, which does not at all imply that the coat belongs to them, and it just being a face doesnt really connect, gaster has always been associated with faces, often disconnected ones.
you just said the color blue is their sign, but now you're saying they have yellow and pink eyes?
Its been heavily implied that friend/mike/tenna/tv smile is a character associated specifically with spamton and chapter 3, ive had suspicions gaster might be some kind of shady buissness partner with them, but it doesnt make sense for this character to one of the most important ones with direct contact and involvement with gaster,
Especially considering toby said he didnt think people would really like spamton i doubt he made a spamton related character a part of one of the major plots of deltarune.
The only "human" with the ability to shape shift is the vessel, and the vessel is not the patience soul.
Over all really great video.
part of valentines culture in America is the platonic giving of cards among classmates (though they are usually very low effort) and the women in your family (like a child to their mother or grandmother or aunt, akin to behavior on mothers day). it's also common to give slightly higher effort valentines, but specifically in a platonic nature to your close friends. highest effort valentines are reserved for romantic interests.
usually tiers of valentine go something like:
tier 1) simple store bought card, sometimes with a single piece of candy (for classmates / strangers)
tier 2) simple store bought card with a flower, or a lone flower (familial)
tier 3) simple handwritten card with candy (for friends)
tier 4) handwritten/made card with flower (familial, very close friends)
tier 5) handmade card with candy & flowers (romantic interest)
7:17 I’m convinced this is a “two trucks” lemon demon reference
You cannot convince me otherwise
1:42:53 There are theories that Kris's real soul was the Cyan soul, which I think you should look at.
He already did a video on it?
I love the implications of the sans cards being accurate for both undertale and deltarune sans
