Never put your knee on the back, spine or neck area that can lead to serious problems like positional asphyxia.

You can but you gotta make sure not to put your weight on the restraintant. Putting your knee on one’s back (only) is to maintain control

In the heat of the moment after a 4 min fight with a subject you aren’t going to regulate how much weight you put on someones back. You will be resting all your weight on them to simply rest. It’s one of those things that are the total opposite from training because training is simply theory. When you get into the field doing that you are more likely to kill someone with that move. Mistaking their tranquility for compliance when in fact they are actually dying beneath you.

    Dear Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department,
I appreciate the hard work and dedication that go into ensuring public safety. However, I have concerns about the recent video released by your department. While I understand that the video may be intended to display the department’s capabilities, it could inadvertently send a message that aligns more with violence and bullying rather than community service.
It’s crucial to consider public perception. Just as healthcare professionals refrain from releasing videos on sensitive subjects like Medical Aid in Dying (M.A.I.D.), law enforcement agencies also need to exercise caution.
The video in question has raised concerns among those who see it, myself included. I support the police and often find myself defending the department when others criticize it. However, videos like this make it increasingly difficult to do so.
I kindly urge you to reconsider the public access to this video. Perhaps it could be restricted to internal use or revised to convey a message more in line with the values of community policing.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

For anyone that doesn’t understand where you’re coming from: can you try to explain _how_ this video sends a message that aligns with violence and bullying?
