- Watch as British couple, Jack and Paige take the overnight sleeper train from Hyderabad to Multan in the famous Pakistani economy class. We meet interesting characters at Hyderabad train station and purchase our snacks for the journey. After taking another load of selfies it was time to board the train. We were nervous about what kind of seating we would get because the train was so busy and despite the journey lasting more than 12 hours, we didn't get a bed to sleep on.
Unfortunately, then the police frequently disturbed us about our seats, they were uncomfortable with foreigners being in economy class with unsubstantiated claims of its lack of safety. We were forcibly moved to a different carriage by a policeman holding a machine gun and despite their insistence that it was for our comfort and safety, the entire journey felt hassled and entirely uncomfortable. Despite trying to sleep, 2 policemen and a train conductor then sat with us for a significant period of time wanting to take selfies and drink tea, even though we were asleep prior to them disturbing us.
We arrive in a freezing cold Multan, an ancient city of the Sufi saints, and take a rickshaw to our hotel. After a quick room tour, we get some sleep before a big day in Multan which you will see in our next video.

I am from India I cleared one thing about the ticket checker he didn't want to take bribe from you. he don't know the scenario that happens in early stage of your journey. its just a misunderstanding he just charged the official penalty because you have economy class ticket and traveling in business class thats why he asking to pay the penalty. hope you understood now brother. And another thing is that they don't forcefully romeved u from the economy class they just wants this in a good manner for your convenience in this journey that why they upgraded you to business class.

The Police man was concern about your safety, if anything bad happen during his shift then he would be responsible, that's why he moved you to set near him . please some time ask someone to translate for you, people most of the time trying to help you but due to language barrier, they cant.
Because tourist are given escort or protection, it simply means it is not safe . It should not be that way in the first place , tourist should feel safe and free as travelers .

I am also a Pakistani but have lived here in UK for 30 years and I admire your courage to shoot videos so well and so often, and kudos to you for creating a vlog that is so inclusive of the Pakistani people. But if you had found someone who could speak English during this time, believe me you would have had more fun, especially in Lahore, Karachi. I really appreciate how the Pakistani police wanted you to be comfortable. Honestly they were not intimidating your wife and you jack. They were respectful. They could have forced you to AC the first time they came around. They really wanted to make you feel home and applied diplomacy. They were also really excited about your presence. You buy the ticket without reservation and sit in reserved coach, the railway conductor do a good job and reserve your seats to your name and then the conductors make a special effort and seat you an others AC standard coaches. The policeman feel his responsibility for foreigner, he keeps both of you safe. This is Pakistani Hospitality.

Jack, it’s not a scam. The tickets are printed in bulk, the train tariff increase is an on going phenomenon; and on the ticket only one item is variable ie the price. So for many reasons the best to stamp the ticket with new price as and when the prices change. Hope it clarifies🙏

Advance reservation are computerized, on spot tickets are old fashioned and charges are frequently changed due to fuel adjustments as economic conditions changes fast.
That sindhi police man gives you extra comfort in the AC standard in same price and the AC standard price is different from economy class He never charge anything about it and gives you the security as well appreciated.

Fascinating to see the interior areas of Pakistan. Growing up my parents even forbade me to go to certain rough areas of Karachi, let alone Hyderabad and Multan! Very entertaining for me to see.
Don’t worry Jack I live in London last 48 years and I am native Pakistani I done the same in1980 : I gave 100 rupees to the train ticket inspector and he bought me tea and biscuits as well : Even Living in London so long I find strange these things but unfortunately that’s what it is-Atleast u was upgraded free which I wouldn’t be intuited - police is strictly ordered from high level to protect the foreign citizens- which u both had the privilege’

The security issue is as follows :
Every foreigner in pk to such places ( specially south west pakistan )is escorted by police so they remain safe. The foreigners security is prime as they are guests. The plCe where they are staying , the managment informs police 🚨 so the foreigner renains safe.
2. Once there was a chinese in local bus with us and the police stopped at every checkpost . Its a rule in pk and good for the safety of foreigners.
No need to n scared.
3. Yes theremust be dedicated hotels go accomodate foreigners to avoid hassle
4. Do visit Qila dirawaer ( Dirawer forte ) v famous in bahwalpur. A city 1 hour away from Multan . Youvan wat h km youtibe what im talking about.

Well that's whole point. The fact that police has to keep following any tourist itself tells you there are serious security issues.
Nobody likes being followed like that. If y'all had worked on your society, you wouldn't have had to go to such extent just to have a tourist travel through the country.
Not to mention the problem of nearly non-existent women in public spaces.
That's all well and good but they should scrap the E-Visa system. You can't give E-Visas and then restrict travel. One or the other

" Please show some manners specially when dealing with females. Do not behave like beggars for a selfie.. Would you approve someone to take selfie with your Sister or wife? It's quite funny because as soon as I talk to a Pakistani woman in videos and film them while I talk with them, I get loads of comments hating me because I filmed a woman. But then Paige receives this treatment in reverse

Hi Jack, I think you dealt with the problem with good self control and believe me you made the right choice. I think you handled the situation well. Now, just to let you know you were safely escorted to Multan by members of the ISI intelligence. The same for the chap who spoke fluent English at Multan station offering to take you to a hotel. While the policeman and his team took you to a more comfortable location so that they could get to know you a little better and help you guys be comfortable with your surroundings and journey. Don’t worry you’re free to roam the place no one will say anything to you. It’s a little like Israel the Mossad will always be around to keep eye on foreigners.

You're a foreigner and here in Sindh region outside of the Karachi specially they try to give extra security and a good living experience to foreigners that is why you're not allowed to live in any cheap hotel but luxury hotels so you can enjoy your moments and never face any issues or difficulties. Now come to the train part, You bought tickets for ECONOMY, But we all know that how f**ked up our economy class is and you was not comfortable there as well that is why police inside the train put you in Business Class for free so you can have a safe and cosy or comfortable travel but looks like he forgot to tell that to ticket collector and when ticket collecter checked your tickets it was of Economy Class and you were in business that is why he asked for more money which is the actual price for business as he didn't knew that you were put by police there but not by yourself.
So yes we can not call him corrupt as he was just doing his duty.
