Yo Slew! That’s why I like your videos. The daily toil of being an artist; prepping work surfaces, cleaning the workspace, installing lights, organizing the studio, setting up and tearing down, moving, etc. All with a “can do”, “get ‘er done” attitude. Been watching since you were freezing your butt in the CT studio. I can relate, and often listen to your vids while working in my studio. Keep up the good work. Happy Holidays to all.
Been watching since the old studio, you have shown major growth as a complete artist. I watched you paint a giant white slab, and I watched you teach a class on drawing in your own f*cking studio, and get it filmed, and edited. Great stuff man.
Watching you for a bunch of years now your journey has been fantastic so far! You are like a feather thats been blowing in the wind up and down and all arround and finally landed in the right calm place! Physically and mentally in my humble opinion! Thank you for sharing your journey Slew! Peace and Love!!!!
A fulfillment facility for your prints?! Seems nice you get to sign them and then not have to deal with shipping, but it'd be interesting in seeing how that's profitable. I see the hard cut when you were talking about profitability 😂 using a shipment facility for prints is this just living in a city thing? Storage thing? Bulk print run thing? Paying for prints, paying for the shipping of prints to you then paying for shipping to the fulfillment facility then paying them, ya it'd be interesting in seeing how that's profitable vs time saving.
Happy 2023! Love your content so much, thanks for keeping me entertained and inspired! PS: I definitely recommend everyone get a print! The quality is awesome, and I always get compliments on the one I purchased!
Studio chores are 100% things that you never see on social media. I like to share it too. People are always sharing these clean, perfect, aesthetically pleasing studio but not the scuffs, paint drips, and disorganized messes that happen while creating 😂
There are many aspects of being an artist that are satisfying. Most of the time I will purchase pre-stretched canvas, while other times, say on a custom size, I stretch my own. Also I have prints on canvas made, so that when they arrive, I stretch them on stretcher strips for that near original look, for a fraction of the cost. Varnishing is that one task that says “ It is done!” When it comes to varnishing, it has to be the one thing I’m eager to do, just to see the painting come back to life. All the thinners and mediums change the look of the oils, so the varnish pulls it altogether. Most satisfying, With my (new) studio being very small, I’m working hard on designing space that will allow me to do a lot of work in a itty bitty space. I can say that so far it is going well, but I still have an issue with where the computer will go. I may wind up networking my main computer to a laptop, and just use the laptop in the studio. The behind the scenes of any artist, is what most people don’t see. Hence they do not know what goes into creating a work of art. I think once my studio is completed inside, I may document the part of the process that no one sees. As always, love your work, and love your insight on the art world! ❤❤
Merry Christmas ya filthy animal 😜 hope you have a good time decompressing with your family😊I have watched you for many years now and one day I hope to get one of your originals, if I can ever afford it lol, wishing you all the best x
Happy 2024 I keep saying I'll start recording to have content and things to look back at but idk. Maybe next year. Thanks for the content happy new year!🙂
Have to ask. Since you do so many DARK backgrounds or paintings in general in oil. You know they have that crazy glare. Any ideas on how to make it not really effect viewing the painting ? Thanks
How on earth did you stand on the top of that ladder and it or you not fall? You're not heavy by any means, but that's still some skill to perfectly balance the ladder. 😂
How is it affordable for you or profitable having to send the prints to a facility after paying for them, paying for shipping, then paying again to ship them.. like why not ship them out yourself?

You don’t have to wait for an oil painting to completely dry for gamvar though? Just until the surface is firm yeh?
Bang on Sam, the hand sword is your best yet. Let loose.

His time is probably worth far more than that. It’s a job someone else can do while he does the things only he can do.
What is zone of creativity for you..?

I feel like you missed an opportunity to name your studio Slew Slew Studio as a Phil Collins homage.
And why did you not go with “The Slewdio”?
It’s gotta be “The Slewdio “ for short surely ??
