Wow what was Mazda thinking. This looks tricky but you handled it like a pro.

I will never ever do this again. Thanks for the help!
It is such a nightmare. haha. I hope I never have to do it again. Thanks for the comment! I hope you were able to figure it out fine.
@@BigAlRepairs I fixed it thanks to your thorough video.
@@MrLegobro oh good, I am glad it helped. thanks for letting me know!
I haven't done this in years. I guess I'll do the next owner a favor & get them swapped out soon, haha.
Thanks much, the best part showing how the filters go back in the HVAC case. I laid across the console to hold the top one up so I could slip the lower in. Its not a bad design most every thing snaps off/on from there a well thought out process of removing parts. I wish GM, Honda, Nissan would make the fuse box this EZ to get out.
We agree! Thanks for the nice comment! This project took us a long time but we are glad we filmed it to hopefully help others!
I think this filter location was made to be ideal for right-handed Asia/European vehicles.
I bought my Mazda3 used, and I wondered why everytime I’d drive my car would throw dirt and little bits of leaves through my vents until I decided maybe I need a new cabin filter and went to change it and learned that for the last 20,000 that I’ve put on my car I’ve had no cabin air filter
serious?? oh wow! That is crazy. I am so glad you were able to figure it out!! Thanks for commenting and letting us know, we love to hear from viewers.
Nicely done. Thank you!

Excellent job
Very good explanation
Thanks for the comment!
Thanks
Possibly a stupid question, I'm not very car savvy but is unhooking the battery important? Will it damage the car if I don't or is it like a safety thing?
Bro cheers for the vid but a slight headache. After reattaching all the plugs to the fuse box(made sure they were in the right place), the high beams, fog lights and central locking don't work. And the handbrake light stays on even tho its off. I've gone through the fuses for the high beams but they're all good same with others. I wonder if it's coz i left the battery connected when doing it? Any suggestions man? I'm gonna give it another crack tomorrow by disconnecting the cables and reconnecting them. I even then after this disconnected the battery and reconnected it incase it rebooted everything. Gutted to say thd least
I am sorry I have not seen your comment until now. Did you have any success?
Hi, i just changed my filter today and Check engine light came on after the whole process. Any tips on how can i get rid of that?
Communication codes from disconnecting the fuse panel, clean them out with a san tool are it may clear itself out over time.
Alot of work involved
Ok looks good lets build it , oh wait a second where does the cabin filter go !
HA! Exactly! What were they thinking?
I bought a 2008 Mazda 3. I have found their designs are so obnoxious
I owned a Honda Civic and so many practical designs blow Mazda out of the water.
Mazda is a bunch of clowns.
Took me 5 min to replace my filter in the Honda. Look at this mumbo jumbo
Exactly! What were they thinking when they designed this? Definitely not the easiest task.
I said I hope to never do this again. Well after 8 years I did it just again now and it remains the stupidest design in the world.
Honestly, I agree. Could they make it any more complicated? Thanks for the comment!
Just open the windows
much easier honestly
I would have to spend a million dollars to move to a place where that works.
OMG. Mazda should be ashamed of themselves how to make change a cabin air filter so difficult.
Agreed! It is not the easiest!
Is there any car that has it worse than this...fml
Haha. So true. Thanks for your comment.
All than MEANS, pay a mechanic to do it...😢😢😢
Might be worth it! Definitely figure out the opportunity cost of your time vs money.
Well I've changed heater cores that were easier. If this was my car the old filters would get tossed and the new ones returned to the store. I've driven thousands of miles in cars that had no filter from the factory and believe it or not, I can still breathe!!. what a useless place to put a filter
Al M, I totally agree. It is way to difficult to replace a cabin air filter. Thanks so much for your comment.
Thanks
