beautiful sun flowers you've got there. I plant for thé time. Please let me know if I still can pinch them. they are 2 ft high and have 6 leaves. thank you in avance
Thanks for the tips. This is the first year I tried the multi branching sunflowers and love them. I have been cutting them for flowering arrangements and they are just the right size I will be collecting seeds and to plant them next year. I live in North Central Florida and am looking forward to a long season of beautiful blooms
I love how you present. Your garden is beautiful. I felt so connected with your teaching methods. I have a small space and grew this summer. After listening to you, I think I will have a better one. Thank you.
Thanks for making this video, just what I need! My first year to grow sunflowers in my backyard. Not sure why I was afraid to grow them until now. Really appreciate your tip how to make them bloom more.
Such beautiful flowers! I want to add a border of branching sunflowers along my fence line this year and thanks to your video I'll be so much more confident that I'm pinching correctly. Thank you!
That's so exciting! Branching sunflowers make such a beauiful landscape backdrop. Wishing you much growing success. Don't be afraid to make that pinch.
never knew about cutting just above the leaf and getting another bloom. I was pulling out the whole plant thinking it was down once the top drooped. Next time I will do this thanks
You mentioned not a lot of pollen on the Syngenta sunflower. So if I am interested in planting flowers for the bees, this probably isn't a good choice? Are Syngenta zinnias low pollen as well? Thanks so much.
Great information. I've planted a long row of branching sunflowers, Soraya, Sonja, Ring of Fire. So we'll see how they do. I notice the plastic mesh you have. What does that do for you? I'm familiar with doing wire mesh to support fresias, but I haven't seen it on sunflowers before. best of luck !
It is called hortonova netting. It keeps the flowers from falling over when they get top heavy. I have another video about it. Couldn’t live without the netting
Natasha, I grew the sunfinity sunflowers last year after watching your video. They were outstanding! I see in this video looks like you have amaranth (red spikes?) planted in your garden. Would you recommend this plant in a borden garden (full sun) or is this plant more of a cutflower? Would love your thoughts. Thanks!
So happy to hear that you were happy with the Sunfinity sunflowers. They are so prolific! I grow several varieties of Amaranthus. We use them in our bouquets. They get rather tall. One thing to know is in our climate the leaves are a pest magnet and not always beautiful. We strip all of the foliage off for bouquet work. It might not be the case for you. We grow velvet curtains and hot biscuits varieties.
@@1818Farms Thank you for getting back to me Natasha. I live in RI Zone 6. I've never grown Amaranth before. I started a cut flower garden for my wife three years ago and grow B. Thanks again!
This is new to my farm, I didn’t know I needed to pinch my sunflowers. What do I do now? They are about 5’ tall and we have only about 6 weeks left in our season for flowers. Should I just let them branch and cut from that or should I pinch anyway? I would hate to miss having flowers.
Your video is full of amazing details. Thanks really. Considering that the harvest begins when we cut the first flower. How long until we cut the last flower? So how long is the total harvest time?
Thanks for your informative video that clearly shows how to pinch branching sunflowers. Quick question: do you have any pest pressure? There are tons of rabbits, groundhogs, and other wildlife around that love to eat my sunflowers. How do you keep your plants alive? 😁
I have a branching sunflower already in bloom, currently has flowers producing all above the stem and the entire plant is probably 3 to 4 feet in height. Can you still pinch the first big head flower or once it’s blooming? Is it too late?
This is my first year planting branching sunflowers and I didn’t know to pinch them. They’re very tall now and I can see many blooms starting to form which is so exciting! Is it ever too late to pinch? Thank you for this informative video ❤️
Pinching is basically assisting you in them not becoming too tall and falling over and controlling the bloom size. How many leaf sets do you currently have and how tall are they now?
@@1818Farms they are over five feet tall and are a different variety than the sunfinity ones you talk about here.
