Had not read about pinching branching types. And by default learned that crowded single sunflowers are skinnier but that can be ok! Really informative.
I had some extra procut seeds a few years ago. I threw them into a row in the veggie garden. How much could it really matter? They were enormous, so yes, spacing matters! 🤣🤣
Very helpful. You showed a single-stem flower that was just opening and one that was fully open. How many days longer was open flower on plant assuming it was just cut.
That is a great question! Flowers tend to have a lot of bloom time variation. Factors like the temperature, amount of sunlight, and water will have significant effect. Generically speaking, a flower will tend to open in about 2 to 3 days. Thank you for asking 😊
Hello! Yes, by the time they are 24" tall, they should be starting to branch, so you will be able to see which ones are branching and which are single stem. To encourage longer stems for your branching sunflowers, we suggest pinching them when they are about 12-18" tall. Single stem sunflowers never branch, and should not be pinched. Thank you for asking! 🙂
is it possible to keep single stem sunflowers short? I'd like to have them around 6inch only, if possible 😅😅 Inhave just planted the seeds few days ago and they're already sprouting
Hello! Unfortunately, we do not offer sunflowers that small and they would not adjust to being cut back to that height. We do offer some shorter sunflowers that you can see here: www.johnnyseeds.com/search/?q=dwarf+sunflower&search-button=&lang=en_US
Yes, we do ship to Canada! 😊 You can find our information about shipping to Canada here: www.johnnyseeds.com/customer-support/shipping/shipping-canada.html
We recommend using bird netting if your plants are small. You can also use flash tape or specific balloons that can be effective in scaring birds. You can find them on our site here: www.johnnyseeds.com/tools-supplies/pest-and-disease-controls/repellents/ We hope these are helpful!
I bought a branching sunflower it has a lot of flowers on it already what do I do I don't want to lose a flower that's already ready to bloom what do I do

Very good info. Thanks. I was getting a little confused over the pinching or not pinching advice. This has made it clear. 😊

Can i branch single head sunflower and have myltiple bloom or can i only flower branching variety?
Hello! No, you cannot pinch a single stem variety as that will terminate flowering. Thank you for asking :)
@@JohnnysSeeds Thank you. I'm new to gardening and lots to learn.
If I am looking at a stand of 24 inch Sunnies, is it possible to tell which are branching or single stem by the stem pattern?
