Hi Ralph, our buddy charlie from Chester built us a koi pond. As you know how addictive it is. We had built 2 other ponds first because we have turtles. Second pond was aquascape products. One issue we had was one of the turtles would always go into the skimmer and get stuck in there. This year will be turtle pond number 3. Going with intake bay and wetland. That way everything is natural and they can go where they want. We did have to put a good size rock in front of the skimmer to keep her out. But that affected the "skimming" action. Just curious how that turtle will do. She will probably be fine alone. We have 4 so they want space. Hence pond #3. 4 times the size. Lucky charlie is 6 minutes down the road. Lol. Great work Ralph.
First of all, Charlie Holland is awesome and you are lucky to be so close to him. Wish we were closer. Thanks for watching and commenting. Normally we do build turtle Ponds with Intake bays. However, this particular turtle was bigger than the skimmer opening and they do not plan on adding other turtles. Happy, pondering!
Awesome video. I am building on my land in the copper hills of globe arizona. I want to make a pond and house some turtles in there. I am from the PNW so no idea what can survive out here. Any tips and info is greatly appreciated.
With two decades of experience creating ponds the list of tips and tricks I would suggest would be a long one.
Start with having a set plan on your vision. Then keep it simple.
