Thanks everybody for the kind words! Nice seeing the great shots that the Koi Talk guys got of it, it’s been a lot of hard work to get it this far but nice to step back and appreciate how far it’s all come! I’ve already re-done the waterfall and added another huge moving bed with 700litres of media since the vid was shot so it keeps evolving and improving
Beautiful set-up Adam! Totally ignorant of where you live but would a small coffee shop help sustain the project?
Well done Adam great talk though. You've done a fantastic job with the pond! 👍
@@lorcanblake thanks for the idea Lorcan 👍
Your set up is great! Wow! Building a deck over the pumps and filters makes everything look so seamless and attractive! And your fish are beautiful!
Incredible pond. And best of all. happy fish. 👍👍
He's so humble when describing it... it's a massive success lmao.
We agree!
What a humble person, loved watching this and an amazing setup. You talk about your pond like you have mine not the amazing one you have. Well done
Thanks 👍
This is stunning, a credit to the owner. Id love to sit with a coffee and watch the fish.
Beautiful pond!
It really is!
So relaxing, watching fish swim around a pond. We had a much smaller pond and waterfall at my childhood home, I loved it. Always looking for houses to rent which have ponds.
Wow adam what a pond. Nice to see something more natural if that makes any sense. It fits the size of your garden. As you said it was already there. Hats off doing your homework on keeping koi. Not an easy hobby. You've done an amazing job. Some quality fish in there.
Thanks 👍
Your pond is beautiful, I love the fish and the landscaping is superb. Good Job!
Stunning house, garden and pond! Like a national park estate!
Yes, thanks
Amazing. I could sit by that all day
I’m sure Adam spends as much time there as he can.
Try adding a pool at the lowest end just before the waterfall spillway flows over into the pond with a bottom drain so you can clean the waterfall full length. This way the sludge cannot go back into the pond. The pool needs to hold enough water for you to wash down the entire spillway. I manage a pond like this and the filtering capacity of a long waterfall/creek is best not underestimated. Incredible set up. Thank you for sharing your koi with us.
so big and so amazing pond
Exceptional!! What a journey Adam! Cracking collection you have.
Many thanks!
Looks bloody awesome my friend. Well done. Absolutely stunning pond. 👍🙏
Fantastic Pond, thanks so much for sharing your story. Well done, beautiful fish.

👍
Great guy, successful pond.
Thank you for sharing
Fantastic pond 👌🎏
Thanks 👍
To keep the power costs down, build a solar water heater. Also, when the liner needs changing, try a clay bottom.
👍
Amazing pond! Congrats and thank you for sharing with us what it takes to run it
Thanks for watching!
dream pond! the sheer volume of water is a huge advantage.
It certainly is
Wow that’s beautiful it’s a lake ain’t it lol na on a serious note that is absolutely stunning not just the pond the whole garden set up I really like it 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
Good job fella, nice to see how you worked things out.All ponds are different at the end of the day ,so it’s a case of suck and see as I also found out 👍🏻
Thanks for commenting.
Cracking updata pal 🎏
Thanks.
Where about in Cheshire! I would love to see this in person
Really nice pond, looks amazing just lacking plants though
I bought a Thermatec ASHP from Adam when he was still in the process of landscaping this pond, it is really looking nice now
Nice!
Must be the the best set up in England that?
It’s certainly very impressive
Would also using natural filtration help by running water through a planted area ? I found planting a Momotaro Bakki with plants wiped out green water on a small pond when my uv popped I didn’t replace it and the plants kept the water clear you could build a huge natural filter in your garden
It would help but flow rates through the UV are essential. Many people put water through them too quickly.
I use 110mm airlifts, at about 20lpm air each means you'll get a great rate through. My two airlifts + bottom drain air and bio comes out at 80lpm which is 58W. I have no water pumps.

Do a wetland filter will help
👍
I love the underground pond as well looks more natural I don’t think Japanese people from back in the days would like the modern koi pond look.
Agreed it’s an amazing style for a pond.
hello sir u should watch Greg Wittstock, The Pond Guy videos . an u need a wetland flirter
Cool, thanks
What a segway into the hobby.
Is it not possible it was originally a trout pond for feeding the house?
We’ll have to let Adam answer that if he see’s the question.
WELL DONE LOVELY POND WHAT DO YOU TREAT THE POND WITH IN THE SPRING AND KEEP IT HEALTHY I NEED TO GO DIRECT FOR MEDI I HAVE 10,000 GALS COST ME A FORTUNE ??
I buy my treatments from a company called APC pure when needed. Potassium Permanganate, Malachite Green and Formaldehyde cover most parasites apart from Flukes
Would love to know the monthly cost of running that! Must be sky high at the moment 🤯
Adam is on here maybe he can answer if he knows.
To be honest I don’t know the exact amount but it’s a lot 🤦🏻♂️ our gas and electric is over £1000 a month at the moment 😭
To the farmer that help you do the 50 tons worth of sludge removal for cheap he turn and around and made the best fertilizer with it probably 😂
😂
Make sure there's no otters about ,,I've lost loads to those ,,or it will end in tears 😢
How the heck do you heat 190k litres 😳😳🤯
Do ever feel like jumping in? 😊
That's my dream pond and koi collection, gorgeous, what's the depth and diameter if u can, thank you
It is approximately 18m long x 12m wide at the widest parts of the oval shape. It is about 1.7m at its deepest part. I had to use the salt concentration method to accurately measure the volume for treatments etc as it was hard to calculate due to shape 👍👍
Holy cow, that's huge,I love it,I wouldn't leave that deck if that was my pond, absolutely gorgeous
I see Adam has answered 👍
get ur self a generator to keep cost down or go solar
Wonder what a farmer might do with tons of pond sludge? ;)
It’s like rocket fuel
Great video but a suggestion would be to let him speak to shoot what he is talking about and not his face ,,,, in saying that thanks for the video
Suggestion noted, thanks.
@@KoiTalkMagazine your welcome really enjoying your content
Also. You thought if cutting your food with oats? Breeding worms or maggots maybe? Bring some of that cost down
He could use a much cheaper food but I think he’s seen the advantages of using a top diet.
Old saying. It's not what you know, it's who you know
koi that big go for 2,500 to 5,000 bucks...apiece..lol.
I would suggest improving the habitat for the fish by perhaps adding a dead tree and some rather large boulders. Swimming their entire lives in circles makes fish miserable. They need enrichment. It's important to realize that fish a living, breathing, thinking, feeling Beings no different than Humans. If you want them to breed, then adding small pebbles or sand will be necessary.
