- so yea this video was going to happen lol got the escort cab on the dyno budget zetec turbo. st170 bottom end. blacktop head. and a decomp plate. got it dialled in for now. gonna get the car out on the road drive it around and see how it goes then sort some real boost control :) let me know what you think cheers guys

I have the silvertop zetec 2.0. Got a gt28r turbo with ext gate. Plenum intake with 650cc injectors, stock pistons, 2mm decomp plate and 2x 0.6mm gaskets. Boost at around 0.7bar (10psi). I made 228bhp, with a bit of playing around we made 242bhp, but decided to keep it safe and stick with the 228bhp.
Your setup should be able to make around 260bhp I think. If the brakes don't hold you back.. Lol

Must admit I thought it would make more bhp power but still ok figures.. the fiesta under the ramp looks real nice too..
The Wippit it would piss 250/280hp when we turn the boost up. But we have no decent boost control so we did not bother

Hahahah, i used to play with these things 20+ years ago. Back when the good old '195 chip' was king. You struggling to make boost, I'm sitting here saying bleed valve, bleed valve!

Oh the first runs was disappointing for a turbo my st170 pulls 181bhp on the dyno thats just with a miltek and a decat.
Ive found on the servo there is a adjustment nipple when u remove the master 👍
What afr's are you getting mid 10's or leaner?

Why change the cylinder head? I thought the ST170 head flowed more. I noticed your Black Top head engine has piston oil squirters. The SVY is the only Zetec based engine over here in the States that have them. Great content BTW!
The ecu does not have the capability to control vvt. That and an st170 head makes a VERY unresponsive turbocharged car.

All that work and you went from 170bhp to 201hp? Would it not of made sense to keep the st170 head, high compression and run it on decent fuel to make good hp? I bet I could get 300hp at 12 psi on the st170 engine with 20% methanol
Very true high comp is the way forward anyone who knows serious engine builders the best way to obtain power is to make a powerful N/A engine then turbo it. Hence why the k20 Honda engine responds well to boooost.
But that said this is a budget build. 👍

Nice result, good info regarding ST170 blocks a shame they're so rare down here. Anyone know of a good clutch to suit IB5 transmission? I only get silence when I ask people here in Australia.
The IB5 will probably let go before the clutch anyway. Get an MTX75 in there.

I've experienced the "what's that smell, why is there smoke?! Before too, doing the same thing with my servo lol
Move the servo 10mm not 20mm like we did lol. Not sure its off ebay rated at 350hp

I'm building myself something alike, hopes are 260-280 hp at the crank...
Yes like i said in the video. Once hes driven it around for a wile we will crank the boost up and make more
Should of put a -31 on it ,they hold 14 psi all day long.
Its external gated. Watch the other videos regarding the internal gate.
Hardly worth the trouble when a std ST170 makes 170BHP. A none std ST with a few mods makes more than 200. My opinion of course.
